We were greeted with a big smile by Demi and she took great care of us. We had the large Meze appetizer and the small Mixed Grill and it was perfect. We had plenty to take home for Super Bowl snacks. We had a nice chat with Demi and she gave us a complimentary dessert of their homemade ice cream. The flavors were baklava and walnut. They were delicious. I highly recommend eating there. “My manbun chum and I have been trying to find a home to watch our one March Madness game every year, and I think we found it for the foreseeable future. In fact, this time it looks to be a literal home.We stopped by last night to watch my beloved Gonzaga Bulldogs end their tournament run against Purdue. I could go into quite a bit of detail about some very shady calls in the paint and what I think should have been a taunting foul on Purdue's future proctologist Fletcher Loyer, but I digress. As soon as I walked in, I could tell I was going to like it. Prior years have been marred by loud sports bar atmospheres where you have to battle tooth and nail to convince someone to change the channel to something that isn't a mediocre NYC-area sports team (I say this as a Mets fan as well). Liberty was significantly quieter, definitely had an older crowd but also had numerous TVs throughout. The best of all worlds. I walked maybe 10 feet from the entrance, asked the bartender if she could switch the TV to the Zags on TBS, and that was that. Aside from a weird moment in the second half when the TV mysteriously changed to ESPN for a few minutes (we never confirmed the culprit), we had primo viewing of the game. Somehow we also managed to sit down next to a couple whose son was currently at Purdue. What a world.Vibe is everything with a place like this. I did a mild double-take when I realized the bar was located in a literal residential neighborhood in what may be someone's actual house (or at least upstairs). There's a parking lot on the side that had plenty of spots, and overall this was one of the most conveniently located establishments I've ever been to - it's about 30 seconds from Route 78 both ways. Initially I felt bad for the neighbors, but as bars go this is not exactly one that's going to be hosting raucous throwdowns outside or anything. You may actually be able to go to bed at 9pm living next door, which is my personal dream.The interior has a lot of tchotchkes behind the bar, and is surprisingly comfortable/spacious. The game started a little after 7:30pm on a Friday, but there were seats available right in front of the TVs and most of the patrons seemed to be in the back area playing pool. It did get a little more crowded throughout the game, but never to a point where it felt claustrophobic. The clientele demo skewed all over the place - several older codgers looked like they'd been rejected from Rock of Love Charm School (I thought one in particular was a dead ringer for Poison's CC DeVille), but there was also a few young men roaming around and middle-aged couples/singles throughout the establishment as well. Pretty much anyone who would theoretically come into a bar, did.We had a good bartender, who not only accommodated my TV request, but was friendly and accessible throughout our stay. I was in a sweet palate mood, and she offered to make a Hawaiian Volcano, apparently a drink pilfered from her days at TGI Friday's years ago. It's not something I'd necessarily get on a regular basis, but it definitely brought me back to my early legal drinking years for sure. I could taste some Malibu and juice, and sipped them throughout the game. We also got mozzy sticks and a pepperoni bar pie. Both were really decent for what they were, especially the mozzy sticks, which were fried perfectly. I thought the pizza tasted like a giant Bagel Bite, which is not an insult. But let's be clear - this is a dive bar, so it's not like you're wandering into the kitchen and stumbling across Jeremy Allen White from The Bear. You want something fairly tasty to munch on, and we got it.Strong recommend. I think expectations for a dive bar should be pretty simple - comfortable and pleasant. This was certainly that, minus the March Madness heartbreak.”

“For one the food is always a hit, never a miss. I especially had an amazing experience with the manager Timesa. After placing my order and sitting in the parking lot to eat my food, around 3am, my car died and though it was well passed closing time and I could tell Timesa was tired, at 3 am after a long shift, she was more than willing to help me jump my car and ensure it started up and I was able to get home. Timesa was lovely enough to get her hands dirty and jump the car for me. I truly appreciate her amazing ethic when it comes to ensuring great service and her ability to go beyond her duty as a manger to help those in need.”

Fun to me is to be able to be in a restaurant kitchen and talk to the chef while he’s making a dish. I want to be able to see what he’s doing and ask about it. Why are you taking the dish off the fire so quickly? Why are you using canned peeled tomatoes rather than fresh? I want to know everything. To me, process can be just as exciting as being presented with the beautiful and delicious final product. This evening, I stopped at an unusual pasta restaurant - All' Assassina. https://www.allassassina.com/ They call themselves the killer pasta project. It’s different. It has an open kitchen. The small dining room is colorful – eye catching. You go up to the front and order your pasta. You decide what will be added in – mushrooms, capers, tomatoes, chicken, olives and more. And then the chef makes it right in front of you. The owner told me that not everybody watches. They’re missing out. This restaurant is offering dinner and a show. And the cooking here is a performance. You get to see what goes into your food and how it is made. It gives you an additional appreciation for what you are about to savor. All the senses go on alert. You could see it. You could hear it in the pan and you could smell it. If you are anywhere near Union, New Jersey, check out All' Assassina. But do not just order and walk away. Look. Listen. And learn. Not everybody likes to cook. But everyone should like to learn. The more you know about what’s in your food and how it is prepared, the more you’ll appreciate good food. The tastes, the textures. Wow. There was an avalanche of different flavors hitting my mouth all at once. It’s worth a trip. Go for the meal. Stay for the show.”

“I went there with my wife this evening and it was a great experience. We had delivery a couple of times, but eating at the restaurant was so much better. We were greeted with a big smile by Demi and she took great care of us. We had the large Meze appetizer and the small Mixed Grill and it was perfect. We had plenty to take home for Super Bowl snacks. We had a nice chat with Demi and she gave us a complimentary dessert of their homemade ice cream. The flavors were baklava and walnut. They were delicious. I highly recommend eating there. Thank you so much Demi for a great experience.”

“This review is not necessarily about this location per se. We ordered catering from this location, and it was ready 30 minutes late, which made us late for the event that we were bringing food to. We complained to corporate and corporate gave us a gift card for the full price of the catering. That's actually amazing customer service, and it's one of the reasons why I am a loyal Chipotle customer. When Chipotle doesn't get it right (no place ever gets it right all the time), they make it up to you to make it right.”

“My first time here and it has a very intimate feel to it, I came here with my friend and son!!If you plan on getting pancakes you only need one unless you are very hungry. I got the chocolate chip pancakes with Turkey sausage and I ended up going home with half of the pancakes!! I will be back to try more food off the menu ”

“I had the pleasure of attending a fundraiser today for #camystrong. The food was amazing, the service was excellent and I learned that 100% of proceeds will benefit my little 6 year old friend. Well done Johnny Napkins, well done. Definitely worth the 1 hour drive to get there for this sweet girl. I will have to make another trip up to support the restaurant this time.”
