“I visited this place with co-workers who recommended eating here. It's a pretty cool spot. Dark, even during the day, with flat screen TVs playing K-Pop music videos and cozy tables, cushion stools with removable lids to put your belongings in. Great idea for coats and jackets as you will leave there smelling kinda smokey. After all, they're cooking your food right at the table. By the way, when you go - go on an empty stomach. You will eat!! They have an all you can eat menu and their options are plenty. With some help from my friend, having been there before; he helped choose some dishes and they were really good. They have dips and toppings, kimchi and other little add-ons to have with your food and as you choose your meats or seafood, the server places it on your cast iron pot, you watch it cook and they'll tell you when it's ready so you can enjoy. It's very family style as you're all eating off the same pot, but the server sections off portions of food to each guest so you'll have your own area to grab food from. The bulgogi and spicy pork were really good. The homemade spam was ok. It's a very unique and enjoyable experience. Definitely coming back here and bringing my son who would absolutely love this place.“

“A great hidden gem in Queens. Right outside of the LIRR Broadway station, only a handful of items on the menu, if you don't ask for drinks, they don't even bother to ask you.Seems like all customers were locals and regulars. It's only 25 minutes from Penn Station, the pork belly was very tasty and so was everything else. Big portions, reasonably priced, and friendly staff. Will definitely go back to try more!“

“Best KBBQ in New York. The owner is super friendly and often comes to cook the meat at the table himself. The rest of the staff is also pretty attentive. Their Galbi and Jowl is my favorite in all of NY. The Bonchon is always fresh and they are not stingy in what they give. The meat is better than 100% of the KBBQ spots in Ktown and Flushing (I've tried A LOT). It's a little pricier than some of the other spots nearby, and obviously pricier than the AYCE spots - but, for the price it's amazing. My favorite restaurant in all of NYC, KBBQ or otherwise.“

“I came here after claiming my free bubble tea from one of Yelp's events since I was in the area. I visited the LIC Lunar New Year events website and saw that this spot had a sampler special. I took a chance on it. After disputing with staff and management that the deal on the website ends at the end of the month, they had adjusted their online menus to provide the sampler option to order. I did get the sampler without having to spend extra. Portions were generous and fresh. I ate half and took the other half home for the family. The ambiance was designed for locals living in the area, not so much for outsiders like me. I saw that Kuku has other locations, so I may check those out.“

Meju

Meju Korean
5-28 49th Ave, Queens

“Chef Hooni Kim succeeded in his vision: dinner at Meju should feel like getting invited as a guest to enjoy a home-cooked meal. Many dishes allude to home cooking yet the flavors clearly tasted professional. This was one of my best meals in the past year. The hwe was perfect. In NYC’s glut of modern Korean tasting menus, Meju has set itself apart by firmly rooting itself in tradition and fermentation.A 3.5-hour dinner here educates not only the palate but the mind as we learn about the history and context of fermentation in Korean cuisine. The experience is much more preferable than waitstaff plopping plates at a table while quickly reciting an ingredients list. The chef encourages friendly conversation in this intimate eight-seat speakeasy. In no time, strangers started talking with each other, though there was no pressure for anyone to do so.A highlight of the meal is getting to taste a few drops of 129-year old soy sauce. It tasted just like how I imagined it to be, mellow and a tad yeasty, though surprisingly devoid of vanilla-like compounds.“

“Had such an amazing mother day celebration at Daori. One of the best place I ever had and definitely beat out its competitor next door. I was a loyal fan of the Michelin restaurant next door but until I met Daori I would say this bbq place and service is so much better. The place is clean and you're met with kind sweet waitress who takes care of your needs. Love the banchans they give . Ordered a soup and two bbq items for 3 people and it was more than enough. Great ventilation system so your clothes won't smell. The short ribs and duck were the highlight and definitely worth it. Love how they start each guest with fried tofu, soup and end with their dessert soup. Would definitely be back!“

“TLDR: Korean style pizza spot. Definitely get a Korean pizza and that jumbo shrimp Rose pasta! I've unfortunately only ordered takeout/delivery but I've thoroughly enjoyed my meal every time. The Korean pizza is a bit different than the standard NY pie. A golden crust with sweet potato mixed in or a cheese crust with duh - cheese. I've done the Mahsil (house special) that has a mixture of everything but I think my favorite is the bulgogi. Something with the sweet/savory combination of beef and sweet potato just works. The jumbo prawn rose pasta I've gotten every time. It's perfectly al dente (especially for a place that doesn't specialize in pasta) with a rich creamy sauce and perfectly bouncy shrimp. I've been meaning to go in-person one of these nights, especially with a bigger group so you can try everything.“

“Really good quality food, the best quality Korean bbq I’ve had in my entire life. In comparison to Gyu-kaku, Kang ho dong Baekjong, Gopchang, and others. However, would recommend you to go earlier in the day, because they are incredibly shortstaffed after 9pm! 1 waitress handling 6 tables (3 with 8ppl). She was nice but facing an unfair challenge! Be prepared to turn the meat yourself. Highly recommend the fresh beef short rib! And the thick pork belly!“

“Gopchang Story's rise in the ultra competitive Korean dining scene started in a few years ago, just a few months shy of the pandemic. Fast forward a number of years and they've done well, outpacing their Manhattan location (#1) in terms of quality and service. I'm a sucker for a place that stays open late (#2) and offers a fun ambiance. The interior is modern, spacious, and very group friendly. I love the souped up, overhead ventilation fans and the additional second level. I've seen dates, families, and massive groups all thrive while feasting and drinking. The food presentation is stellar. The cuts of fatty beef, the hearty jungol style casseroles, to their individual noodle bowls / rice platters are always perfectly laid out and make for a good food photo-op. From the cube steak to the flower pork belly, I'm a fan of most of their meat cuts. The beef brisket casserole earns top honors for me, but the octopus, intestine, and shrimp hot pot is also an excellent choice. In fact, for intestine lovers, this is the place to be. I think some other honorable mentions would be their boochoo gochoo pancake and the beef brisket pancake. I do think the beef tartare is wonderfully seasoned and the gopgamchi (aka fried intestine with garlic, potato, and cheese) is a surprising hit. For rice lovers, I am always partial to the tripe and intestine fried rice, which is also very tasty. I haven't had any major issues with the service and the pricing is average for the area. I do think this is one of the better a la carte Korean BBQ experiences in Flushing proper. I am already looking forward to my next (late night) visit. __________ (#1) (#2) Open till midnight on most nights, but 2AM on others.“
