Sancocho de Cola Con Pollo Al Horno

“The last Colombian bakery I'd gone to was stale and greasy. This place was neither! Really fresh breads, all full of flavor. My main complaint is that some of them were dry and/or mealy, but that might be an issue with my own personal taste. That might come with the nice part of the flavor, too, since so much is with indigenous South American flour.“

“This is Colombian fast food and street food fusion at its finest. A meat lovers oasis that serves up well portioned, well constructed and extremely flavorful dishes. The creativity is a challenge for your palate. The flavor explosion is the gastronomic reward of the journey. The service is fabulously Colombian, South American hospitality/friendliness, accommodating and extensively menu knowledgeable. The decor of this munch-spot is of a Colombian BBQ pit with an American flair. Tastefully designed to resemble a road side BBQ shack. Music keeps it bumpin' and is all about the Latin BBQ Vibe. Seating is limited, large groups of 10 or more will be difficult to accommodate. No outdoor seating is available due to heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Worth the ride to munch with friends, family or a casual date. WASH YOUR HANDS BECAUSE YOU WILL BE LICKING YOUR FINGERS. Yummy Tummy!“

La lechoneria ramirez Colombian • $
45 37 162nd Street, Queens - 6.07 miles

“I. Food II Ambience III Predictability I. Food Slow roasted pork - most excellent. Most excellent. Rice with beans - very nice. Octopus salad - great dressing and bits of salad, and I think I had mistaken expectations. I've only had grilled octopus in the past, at white table cloth restaurants, and I'm guessing that those octopus samples were massaged and massaged and massaged. (Remember the great movie, Jiro Dreams of Sushi? One of the sous chefs had to massage each octopus for 45 minutes before it was considered ready to be presented.) The flavor, by way of the dressing, was great. The octopus itself was tough, maybe because it was marinated and not grilled. How tough? It took me a couple of tries to spear a piece with a metal fork and longer than that to fully chew it. If you're good with that, then it's a must have. II Ambience Yes, it's a food truck by a school playground with no seating. Puerto Rican (?), Mexican (?), Latin X (?) music at a strong but not conversation-killing volume spills out of a speaker, all upbeat, great arrangements: horns, strings, and of course percussion. It'd be great music for a party or festival. Which Lechonera basically is. III Predictability So. Google has it opening at noon, and a 2015 GrubStreet review ( has the pork coming out in batches at noon, 1:00, 1:30, 2:30, and 4 p.m. Today, 4/28/2024) we got there at 12:45, and there was a line of about 50 people. No movement on the line. I asked people at the front what time they'd gotten there and they said 11:30 and that people had started lining up at noon. The first batch came out at 1:20 and the people in the front of the line went in at 1:32. We ordered and got served around 3:20, though they didn't have the shrimp pastillos or the mofongo. So, overall: fun party atmosphere, excellent slow roasted pork, and leisurely service, at least today. It took 2 hours for 50 people to be served, which isn't crazy slow, and if the first batches had come out at noon, as advertised, instead of 1:20, our wait would have probably been one hour instead of two. I'm glad we went. The vibe is great, the pork is succulent with a beautifully crisp skin. But it'll probably be a while before going again, and if the food is slow to come out and the offerings spotty, we'll probably move on immediately instead of waiting. And waiting. And waiting.“

“[Review of 4/27/24 Visit] If you have been to Colombia before and want a reminder of your experience there, then visit Bogotá Latin Bistro! Come for the authentic Colombian food / drinks, as well as vibrant ambiance, but stay for the exceptional service. I had moved back to NYC after spending some time in Colombia, and I visited Bogotá Latin Bistro to reconnect with that beautiful country. My visit exceeded my expectations. The ambiance at Bogota Latin Bistro strikes the perfect balance between cozy and lively, with decor of Colombian colors and "rolo" (Bogota) decorations and a variety of Latin music that instantly lifts up your spirits. Whether you're here for a meal with friends or for a casual date with someone, the restaurant's welcoming vibes make you feel right at home. In my case, I ate alone and admired the interesting Colombian artwork and tchotchkes lining the restaurant walls. The menu celebrates the rich flavors and ingredients of Colombia. From classic arepas and empanadas to mouthwatering bandeja paisa, which I ordered, the menu makes me want to return to Bogota Latin Bistro at least 2 or 3 more times to taste the items I haven't tried yet. I also took the opportunity to try the "Boozy Brunch" special in which I enjoyed different mimosas containing juice from fruits common to Colombia, such as maracuya and lulo. Qué rico!! Yummy! What truly sets Bogota Latin Bistro apart from the other Colombian restaurants I've visited in Manhattan and Brooklyn is the exceptional service from the waitstaff. An incredible, lovely woman from Bogota, named Valentina, served my table and she made my visit memorable. With her warmth and happy attitude, she reminded me of the many amazing Colombians I know from Bogota and Medellin. I asked her if I could order in Spanish so that I could practice my Spanish, and she didn't hesitate to speak clearly and slowly en espanol to me so that I could understand her. In addition, when she asked me what foods I missed eating in Colombia, I mentioned that I missed having fruit "salpicon". And later on in my meal, when I was ready to enjoy another mimsoa, she surprised me with a "salpicon mimosa" containing juices from various Colombian fruits, which I enjoyed so much! Also, during our conversation, I had mentioned the name of a song that I liked from a popular singer from Medellin. And to my pleasant surprise, I heard that same song playing in the restaurant a few minutes later on! Valentina's attention-to-detail (and her patience with my mediocre Spanish, haha) makes me want to return to Bogota Latin Bistro as soon as possible!“

“The food is PHENOMENAL! El servicio superior! (Service superior!) You cannot go wrong and the prices compared to other Spanish restaurants I once frequented before making this "My Spot!" Are easily 25-40% less while their quality of food is better here at Costeña! May been Paisa!“

“I first ate here in 2012 with about 20 Colombian adoptees and have been back so many times despite not living in Queens. I thought it had a different name, but I recognize the decor. This place was amazing and we went around lunch time. Many of us have friends and family in Colombia and we loved this place so much. I remember going there with a friend and not really knowing for sure how to get there one time as we took the subway, but I was still able to locate it. During that weekend we also went to an overpriced place, attempting to be "upscale" and it was no where in the same category as this restaurant. They other place even ripped us on the bill because there were some many of us and they claimed we "must have bought alcoholic drinks". They ripped us off and a girl had to put it on her credit card to get the reservation and now the bill was about $300 to $375 more and we all knew what we ordered food wise and nobody drank I'm excess so we just all chipped in to cover this rip of. If that's not bad enough they had our event published in some magazine or newspaper. Don't waste your time with those places, go here and you will not be disappointed. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Ciao.“

“I’m so happy that I ignored the reviews and ordered from here anyway. I’m Colombian, so if I think the food is good it’s because it is! Their hot chocolate was authentic and delicious! Their buñuelos are huge which is a plus! The portions of their dishes are perfect. I was extremely happy with my order. I’m so happy that I was able to order through seamless and they delivered to me 2 miles away. My food and drink were hot and fresh! I was so delighted that I even called the restaurant to thank them because their hot chocolate spoke to my soul. I can’t wait to try their soups over the weekend.“

“The food is delicious. The people are nice unlike other Spanish restaurants, as we do not speak Spanish and they speak little English. They do not make us feel as if we’re an inconvenience as other restaurants tend to do.. it’s a cute little place I would even think about having a get together there. Cozy and good vibes ..“

“Had the usual get-together, so we chose Noche De Columbia to celebrate a birthday. The food was ok... I guess it's Columbian home style. I don't know. To me, the food was just ok. This shouldn't prevent anyone from getting their own experience and deciding for themselves. Go the and enjoy the place...I'm sure you'll like it!“

“Went here for a breakfast/brunch with my mom and we got the Mexican and Colubian breakfasts along with a coffee each. We also got the guacamole and jalapeños sauces.Coffee was very nice, not too strong and very smooth. My mom loved the Mexican breakfast. The beans were very flavorful and the egg scramble paired very well with pickled jalapeños. The tortillas were nice and hot and didn't break apart even when piled high with beans, rice, and eggs. Highly recommend.I also very much recommend the Columbian breakfast which came with an arepa with cheese, steak, and the same egg scramble. The steak was pretty good. While thin and cooked all the way through, it was crusty, well seasoned, and tender. I poured loads of the jalapeño sauce on top which was great. The arepa was also very nice, crispy bottom and nice gooey cheese. The sauces were also pretty good. I highly recommend the jalapeño sauce. A little kick balanced with a good sour and sweetness. The guacamole sauce was also pretty good, if a bit watery. The portions of the meal were perfectly good and filled you up but for $15 a pop, it's most definitely not an every morning meal. The highlight really was the service. Thr food arrived quickly and hot. The lady at the front desk was very nice and offered for us to finish our meals before paying. She seemed very enthusiastic and was happy to give me more jalapeño sauce when asked. The dining area itself was clean and cute. Nice music and vibes. The cushions on the seats were clean and not deflated and the tables were very clean.Overall, very nice place to eat with some damn good food. If you're looking for a great weekend breakfast/lunch, come here.“

“The food here is incredibly delicious and authentic. The owners are so sweet and friendly, they take pride in putting out quality food that tastes like a vacation in Cali. The empanadas are delicious as is the accompanying aji and the jugo de lull is fresh. I have so many dishes I still want to try, the menu is extensive. “Absolutely love the food here! IMO, it is hard to find an authentic Colombian joint that serves luscious food and showcases their origin's unique flavor. Each bite delivered a delectable and VERY satisfying punch. From their homemade hearty beef stew to their generous portions of tamales...my family loved every bit of it. All you heard was "WOW" for 5 straight minutes as we all dug into our food. Their bakery also had a wide selection of baked goods, which my kids absolutely loved. All in all, El Punto provides great service, amazing food, and good vibes.“
