“This hidden gem check all the good boxes! It takes a bit longer to get your food but it really is worth the wait. Our waitress was super nice and it was a very clean place. They have some of the best tasting fries you can get here. Very low noise level and no wait time to get seated. Prices are very reasonable. There is lots of parking in a lot right next door and some behind the building. This used to be Toms Diner. Very nice menu. If you haven't been here you really should try it”

“My husband and I had dinner at Robinson’s Smokey Bones last night. We were hungry and not disappointed with our meal. We had a friendly, upbeat waiter, Patrick, who gave us suggestions based on what we asked about menu items. My filet medallions, potatoes, and broccoli as a were delicious, and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his meal as well. The berry cheesecake we split for dessert was scrumptious! We’ll definitely be back, and we’ll ask for Patrick on our next visit! I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a tasty meal in a great setting!!”

“We had an excellent dinner at Monterey Bay last evening. I had the Branzino which was filleted and cooked perfectly. My wife had the seafood trio which was a starter for her entree. It included some tuna, salmon, shrimp and a delicious crab cake. We also split the Mediterranean salad which was very fresh. John was our waiter and was very knowledgeable and attentive. I am convinced Monterey Bay is the best seafood restaurant in Pittsburgh after dinning there several times and enjoying the magnificent view.”

“My wife and I had a last minute dinner at EV's, and we were wonderfully surprised how beautiful the restaurant was. There was a live jazz band playing in the background which also made the evening more romantic.”

“We’ve dined twice at Alla Famiglia and it’s the best Italian restaurant in Pittsburgh. Their portions are massive and we’ve always had enough for lunch the next day. The three things we recommend are the grilled octopus appetizer, any of the veal chops, and the seafood diavola. You need to see the size of the veal chops in person as pictures online don’t do it justice. We thought the Cavatappi tasted better than the Cacio pasta, even though Cacio costs more. Overall it’s pricey for Pittsburgh, but the quality is superior and you get enough for lunch the next day. Another tip is get a bottle of their spicy olive oil on the way out. I add it to many dishes for an extra kick and it makes for a great present.”

“First time in Pittsburgh so we decided to stop for some breakfast at the speckled egg. It’s nestled inside a historical building with lots of beautiful architecture.I got a latte which was perfect, and the I am Kazam skillet with avocado, chicken sausage and potatoes. The Kazam was great but could use just a bit more flavor. I added their home made pineapple hot sauce and it tasted great.I would recommend this spot and hope to come back!”

“Tucked in the heart of thr cultural district Gaucho Parrilla Argentina is an international trip for your taste buds. From the moment you Wal in you can smell the wood fired meat just waiting to melt in your mouth. The menu has a wide variety of food that has generous portions. We recommend the foccacio bread and empanadas as appetizers. For our entree we had a variety of the sandwiches all of which were huge. For dessert we had the lemon meringue custard and red velvet cake. Our waiter was excellent, fast and attentive. If your coming to the cultural district I highly recommend you visit here. It is well worth it.”

“GREAT CIDERS, PIZZAS, and VIBES! Tried Threadbare Coder House for the first time last night - I am REALLY late to this party - and it was fantastic! First off, if you're a toddler mom like me, you know a night out with the kids can be more stressful than fun. Threadbare was totally kid friendly and has an amazing corner with giant light bright boards and magnatiles for the kids to play! It was amazing and the most relaxed my husband and I have been out in a long time! Like it was so nice that even if the service and food hadn't been good I would have returned for that feature alone- thank goodness that wasn't the case! We ordered two pizzas - the buffalo chicken and chicken bacon ranch. Both pizzas were sooo good! We especially loved the buffalo chicken! The chicken is a slow cooked braised cider chicken that is so flavorful. The ranch on both pizzas is homemade and herby, and the dough is a homemade sourdough crust which was perfectly crisp and thin. Very well executed. Service was fantastic! We felt very well taken care of, we were given the cookie for the kids on the house and the food and drinks were out quickly. Our favorite cider was probably the tiki which is a seasonal recipe and has a hint of coconut. It was delicious. We also really liked the imperial cherry and guava flavors. The bridge city bubbly was nice but sweet lovers beware - it's very dry. Overall we loved our visit to Threadbare and will be back soon! Our only regret is that we didn't know about it sooner!”

“Eddie Merlot was a favorable for us in business and personal dining. In last year the restaurant had a top down staff change so I think they are revamping so that is a challenging process. Our waiter Matt was outstanding and everything a steakhouse regular knows to want and expect from the experience. He was attentive, informed, sincere and timely. Kudos if they garner more staff like him. I would encourage corporate to invest in new carpeting. It looks bad. As a marketing person I would encourage them to find a way to drive socials groups in for some happy hours as it seemed peculiarly quiet.”

“This place is AMAZING! My mom and I are in town for a college tour, and many people were walking around with the ice cream so I suggested we give it a try. Immediately the two guys in there were delightful and very helpful and cheery. The atmosphere was so fun the moment we walked in. The flavors were amazing and I almost couldn’t choose between the Thin Mint and the Pittsburgh Pride. I ended up going with the latter. It is like brownie/oreo/cookie chunks and butterscotch. There might be another thing added. My mom got the pear flavor. We are both extremely satisfied with our choices. They did say that the flavors change up pretty often - for example, they’re getting ready for Blackberry Lemonade. But Pittsburgh Pride will always be available. So if you’re looking for a cute little dessert place after dinner, this is the place!”

Meet the night manager Chris, super nice and very helpful. Later we called to order pizzas to pick up. Ordered 3 large pizzas, one plain cheese, one of the new superoni and the new pittsburger pizza, all were AMAZING! Lots of flavor, fresh dough, crust was soooo yummy! “We often order delivery from here and are always impressed with the quality of the food, the quantity, and the speed of delivery. Tonight it was chicken parmigiana with angel hair and a side salad with fried zucchini as an appetizer for me, while my dad did the build-your-own-pasta with gnocchi and carbanara (bacon, mushroom cream) sauce and caesar salad. They said it would be an hour and it was only 30 minutes. I don't know how the fried zucchini travels and still arrives crispy, but they do it, and it's awesome, large slices, very generous, like a whole zucchini, with crisp, though not too thick, breading. It does not include a dip, only lemon wedges, but I have ranch dressing here. The chicken parmigiana was two large breasts, breaded, moist, and smothered in sauce and cheese. The side salads are generous with a thick slice of cucumber, grape tomato, red onion, and lettuce (the caesar - not real authentic but good - with croutons, black olives, grape tomatoes, lettuce, and parm cheese). We are never disappointed and always have leftovers. The one time something was wrong with our order, they promptly came back with what was missing and gave us a credit. Try the focaccia pizzas for a week's worth of great food! Highly recommended!!!”

“I came into Wilsons on 09/02/23. it was like visiting an old friend that I thought I would never see again. The ribs were good and that sauce needs to be put in a trophy case. The customers the staff the owner were all amazing I wish i didnt live a thousand miles away or id be their once a week to get my bbq fix. I thought it was amazing the owner gave me some sides when she heard how far I travelled to taste these ribs that were part of my childhood been eating wilsons for 40 plus years. I hope I can order a tshirt next time I come in probabbly in the spring so I can rep Wilson in the 407 down in Orlando. Kudos if they garner more staff like him. I would encourage corporate to invest in new carpeting. It looks bad. As a marketing person I would encourage them to find a way to drive socials groups in for some happy hours as it seemed peculiarly quiet.”

Wedge salad and Tomato / Burrata were embellished with attention to details. Steak was tender and cooked to perfection. Chilean sea bass was moist and succulent. Roasted chicken had crispy skin. It was tender and sauced nicely Butter Cake is a MUST. Great meal. Great wine list.”

“I came for their industry night and it was great. They have a variety of ginger beer (alcohol and non), cocktails, and local craft beer. The space is a modern and comfortable vibe. There is a small space with a fire pit to hang out outside as well. They did have a food truck while I was there this visit. Not sure if they will continue to have trucks-but there is definitely space for rotating food trucks. The ginger beers were great and their mule was super refreshing and delicious. I'm looking forward to them opening up full time soon.”

“I only wish this existed when I was going to college nearby at La Roche. Apparently a Crazy Mocha once existed in Passavant, but I never made my way to it unfortunately. I have, however, been to some other hospital coffee shops, like the Starbucks in Presby in Oakland. Not only is this Starbucks new, but it looks like some of the main hall at the Passavant entrance was redone too. There are plenty of tables and chairs out front so you can gaze out the window, and the large atrium seating area is nearby. Inside there is ample seating like any location, with an area off to the right to buy branded cups and mugs. Given that it's the holiday season and the special drinks were available I decided to try the white peppermint mocha. The cafe was not too busy for a weekday in the midafternoon, so I was waited on right away. Only a few hospital employees wondered in while I was sitting, as well as a few visitors. Nothing too unique about this location design wise, it's your typical dimly lit but nicely done spot. There is some interesting hospital history and displays father down the hall to explore, as well as the chapel and gift shop.”
