15 Best Craft Breweries in Pittsburgh

City Brew Tours Pittsburgh Brewery •
1247 Smallman St, Pittsburgh

“We had a tour last week with our beer guide Kevin. He was extremely knowledgeable about all beers and the history of the area, very friendly and just really enjoyable as a tour guide. We went to Old Thunder in Blawnox, Strange Roots in Millvale and Allegheny City on the North Side - each with its own ambiance and tasty brews. We'd be happy to go on another tour with friends sometime!“

Back Alley Brewing Company Brewery • $$
2975 W Liberty Ave, Pittsburgh

“The first time I went here I thought the beers weren't great, but the second time was a lot better. Excellent location, in any case; good place to chat with friends. The music is a tad loud, that said, but I guess it makes conversations more private for some who want to talk loud? Who knows.“

Inner Groove Brewing - Allentown Taproom Brewery • $$
827 E Warrington Ave, Pittsburgh

“A fun and eclectic brewery in Verona. Inner Groove's ~thing~ is having a great collection of records which are always spinning. It added a nice ambiance while sitting at the bar and whatever's playing is a good conversation starter with the bartenders who are really friendly and helpful. I felt the tap list is super IPA heavy, which I'm not as into anymore personally. But if you are, you'll love it! I tried a blonde ale and the rainbow sherbet sour (which legit tasted like melted rainbow sherbet). They were both good. I look forward to checking out this space again in the summer. It's really close to the river so I'm sure it's even better when you can spend time outside.“

Hop Farm Brewing Company Brewery • $
5601 Butler St, Pittsburgh

“Excellent food, excellent service, huge space with plenty of seating. Beer: I tried a Helles and a Hazy IPA and both were very good. There was a great beer selection and I wish I would have been able to try a few more. Food: I had a burger which was excellent. I would have added a picture but it didn't last very long. There were 3 of us and everyone enjoyed the food. Service: There was a QR on the table where you can order food and drinks. The drinks came out shockingly fast and although the food took a bit it was worth the wait. Parking: We were able to find close parking and although the area by the bar was full there was plenty of available seating in the back. Games: There are also pool tables, darts, and a large Jenga game to play.“

“Our server was amazing! She had a group of over 100 people coming and going over a 2 hour span and she rocked it. I had the Cobb salad, which was light and tangy, very refreshing. The pickle chips were amazing! The batter on them was so good, it was tough to share! Great location by our hotel, huge patio area, and the weather was perfect that evening. I also heard the beer was pretty spectaular too. Great choice!“

Hitchhiker Brewing - Tap Room Brewery • $$
190 Castle Shannon Blvd, Pittsburgh

“Easily one of the top breweries in the area. Not only are their beers unique and tasty, but they generally have something that will please everyone. Some of the best beers I've had have come from Hitchhiker and while their cans are good in a pinch, their on tap beers are well worth the trip.My only knock is they need to expand somewhere else with more seating and do a food menu of their own rather than relying on food trucks which can be hit or miss (can't remove a star for that since it's clear this is only a taproom) .The staff is great and attentive and let you try something so you don't get a glass of something you will hate.Getting seating here sometimes can be problematic in the winter months; but their stuff is top shelf and worth it.One of my top 5 breweries in the Greater Pittsburgh Area.“

Allegheny City Brewing Brewery • $$
507 Foreland St, Pittsburgh

“They took care of my wife and myself with service and fantastic drinks. They also took care of an intoxicated Steelers fan, giving him water and food, while calling him a cab. This staff was fantastic with how casual they were with the situation. I'd come and give my business to this small brewery everytime I visit the Pittsburgh area.“
