I wish to report on our dining experience at the Robinson Township Eat’n Park at approximately 7:00 pm the evening of April 13. When we arrived there already two families waiting to be seated. Their names had been taken and they had been informed that they had a five minute wait. There was no hostess at the station. There was another couple ahead of us waiting to have their names taken, ourselves, and subsequently four other families behind us. There were open tables and during our more than twenty minute wait to see a hostess we saw two tables being bussed. During that time we saw two employees engaged in a 10 to 15 minute conversation with guests at the table. Not once did they notice the ever growing queue at the hostess station. They eventually disappeared into the kitchen and were never seen again. One couple came in and sat at the lunch counter. They were waited upon in approximately five minutes. When the couple ahead of us hailed the waitress concerning the prolonged wait to be greeted by the hostess they were told that someone would be with them in a few minutes. It was said with a great deal of attitude. Hopefully, not because people of color had made the inquiry. Upon hearing that the couple whose names had been taken rose in disgust and departed. I began to write a note on the hostess pad to explain why so many of us were leaving, only then did someone come over to the hostess station, more to see why I was writing and to stop me. I wrote an explanation of the situation and the attitude of the employee. I am quite sure that it was immediately destroyed. There were at least six of us who left at that moment. I understand the problem of understaffing and crunch conditions on the kitchen, but there is no excuse for someone not to check on the hostess station every few minutes to take names and give an assessment of wait times. There was no apology, and I am quite sure that the employee only came over because I had taken the matter into my own hands. We are frequent users of the Eat’n Park franchise. This was our first really bad experience, and I can understand people having a really bad day. The clients were patient and respectful until the surly attitude of the server. We left the Robinson Township location and drove to the restaurant in Moon Township. There the hostess was checking someone out as we arrived and then apologized for the wait which was a few minutes. The server was courteous, and apologized that our food was taking so long, and asked if we needed anything else. It was a vastly different experience.
