“Came to give my out of town friend a taste of local sushi, not knowing what to look for. Saw the good reviews and they are 100% accurate. Presentation was great and we both left happy. My friend said the maya was great, he enjoyed its flavor.“

“Our food was quite spicy. I was quite surprised when we got our appetizer and soup. We had to send the soup back as well as one of the appetizers. Someone was very heavy-handed with the spice. Other than that, the food was very good. Our server was fabulous! ??“

“The food and service was excellent. We enjoyed the sashimi plate as well as a couple of the bowls. It has a bar-like vibe, offering some inventive cocktails. It takes two flights of steep stairs to get there, so the crowd is inevitably younger and able.“

“Our first experience at KIKU was highly memorable and a truly delightful evening! 5/5 stars all around! ⭐️ We made a reservation for 8 people which they easily accommodated, and the pacing of the many courses and dishes we all sampled was timely and thoughtful. We also requested a staff member who spoke Japanese because we are in a beginner’s language club trying to improve our Japanese and conversation skills. Yasuko B. was absolutely wonderful!! So patient, kind, and helpful in speaking with us and making it an extremely positive experience. She took great care of our table and made me feel welcome to try speaking in Japanese even though I am a beginner without a lot of confidence. I left feeling very inspired and motivated to continue seeking out experiences like this and hopefully meeting more kind people like Yasuko. All of the food was exceptional, and I especially loved the torikatsu, korokke, iidako, and beef tataki. The drink I ordered, Jade East, was hands down one of my favorite drinks I’ve ever tried. Also, the ube mochi was delicious! Overall, we loved everything about KIKU and we are already looking forward to our next visit. ありがとう ございました !“

“Food was decent . The waiter was fast and he food was timed well. Only issue was the appetizer was a bit on the small size and seemed over fried. Maybe they fry it and then set it aside and then fry it again when ordered to heat it up. Other than that I liked the res of the food and the atmosphere.“

“My family and I love Kujira. We have been blown away by everything we’ve tried to eat, it is all definitely worth the price. The decor is beautiful and stylish, and the staff are so friendly, accommodating, and fast!! The host, Aimen, is especially kind and a joy to interact with; he was very sweet to our kids. Highly recommend!“

“I have too many words to share to describe this establishment. Tonight was my first experience dining here, after a day date with my boyfriend we decided we were in the mood for hibachi. The first mistake we made was driving from Robinson to Carnegie to dine at Benihana‘s. Within thirty minutes of being there, we left (but that’s another story) Unsatisfied and still very hungry, we decided to stop in at Sapporo’s. They didn’t open until 4:30 (at this time it was 4PM) and noticing the website says reservations only, I called to make sure it was okay we dine in. The man on the phone said what time can you be here and I informed him we were already in the parking lot. He told me “I’ll see you in thirty minutes” The moment we walked in we already knew we made the right decision. The table we sat at was full of kind people. Everyone was talking, sharing stories, laughing etc. it literally felt like we were sitting at the dinner table with FAMILY. The chef came out who happens to be the owner. A one man show, and boy did he kill it! The food was so fresh. I had the filet and scallops and it was cooked to perfection. Not only did he make a great meal. He shares stories himself, took the time to actually enjoy our company and show his appreciation that we were there. He must be the sweetest man I’ve ever met. His wife was very pleasant as well! The waitress was so accommodating and very on top of things with her being the only one there. I honestly think this is the longest review I ever made… I could go on and on but long story short, you will NOT be disappointed with Sapporos.! Living nearly 5 minutes away, this will be our forever date night spot!“

“An amazing, inviting environment to share delicious dim sum and traditional Cantonese dishes! Every aspect of the experience, from the well crafted cocktails to the impeccable service is without equal in the area, while also providing a more relaxed, family style vibe to the experience. One of my main "go tos" when dining out!“

“What can I say that hasn't already been said about this place? I was told about this gem of a restaurant through reddit. As a west coast girl, I'm particular about my sushi. I maintain that Oakland, CA has some of the best sushi on that side of the Mississippi. For this side, I have found that this restaurant is up. Perhaps the best sushi in Pittsburgh. My boyfriend and I came in with empty bellies around 5:15, fifteen minutes after the restaurant opened. A party of five was before us, and we were followed by a few parties of two. Right away, we were glad we came early. This place fills up fast. I would plan accordingly, as weekend popularity should be expected. We were sat close to a window, the table was clean and set. Our server took a few minutes to approach us and offer waters, then gave us a bit more time to peruse the menu. My boyfriend ordered a fried chicken dish with veggies, I tried my best to get a diverse pick of rolls. I know that it's very American of me, but I couldn't pass up the Philly roll. I also got a discovery roll and a third one that was off the menu, as my original third pick was out that day.I don't mind 86's when it comes to sushi. You work with the fish you have that day, so I was more than happy with something mysterious. We also got a bottle of sake to share. Both meals came with the option of miso soup or a salad. We got our soup and salad first. His soup was wonderfully salty and piping hot. My salad was a typical restaurant house salad, but the dressing was something orange and tasty. The sake was served cold, which corrected my original assumption that it is always served hot. Ignorant American moment! Still, it is a nice drink for those who like their alcohol dry. I enjoy a good sake, oddly enough, even though my drinks of choice range more sweet. This was my boyfriend's first time, and he seemed to like it more as the bottle went. Our entrées took a bit of time, but the wait was worth it. I was told that the owner of this place is particular with choosing his fish and it showed in my meal tonight. Everything tasted fresh and yummy! The rolls were somewhat loose, but the flavor more than made up for that. I was in sushi heaven my entire dinner. The third roll was a great suggestion by our server, but the discovery roll was easily my favorite. My boyfriend's chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. It came with a dipping sauce that was sublime. Good food and conversation, what more do you need from a Friday night? We sprung on dessert because we were full but not stuffed. The dessert menu is all ice cream, but they have it in three types. There were the mochi balls, the fried ice cream, and then your run of the mill scoops. We got both flavors of the mochi, red bean paste and green tea. They were a sweet send off at the end of the night. Altogether, our bill came out to 66.77 and our tip was around 16 dollars. That much food for two being under eighty before tip was a huge plus. The restaurant is clean and well lit, the atmosphere was more communal, I wouldn't take an intimate date here, but it's nice for a casual Friday date night. We were given hot towels for our hands before our meal, which was a nice touch! I recommend this place to anyone who likes quality sushi. Plenty of non-sushi options for those like my boyfriend, who aren't as keen on raw fish. Overall, a wonderful Mount Leb dinner spot for when you're not feeling the t into downtown. We will be back!“

“The fresh fry on the grill comes through and it tasted really good. I would definitely order again. The container is unfortunately styrofoam and it's the divided kind so you're not getting as much food as would fit a container without the dividers fyi. It's still a good portion and I had leftovers for lunch the next day.“

“Phenomenal sushi restaurant in Pittsburgh. Fish straight from Tokyo fish market. Freshest fish in the United States. The salmon tataki was the absolute best. All other fish was excellent. Appetizers, entres, desserts, and views were spectacular. Highly recommend.“

“Nice fast casual spot for a quick, healthy meal. The additional ingredients I got were all fresh, cucumber, and spring mix greens. The salmon sashimi was good. I made my base with steamed white rice. You get a lot of rice; I couldn't finish it. I will look for this chain in other cities for a quick, GF, allergy meal.Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free options, they have an area for i gredients like Chipolte to add to meals. Depending on the allergy, it could be safe for you.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, electric door button and small ramp/slope to get through door from side walk.“
“This was a nice very reasonably priced small sushi establishment. Parking however was a nightmare, so if possible walk to this location. The staff was very friendly and gave me a good recommendation. I had the Eye of the Tiger Roll and it was great. It was spicy but I like it that way and in my personal opinion if you’re not crying a little bit then it’s not spicy enough. Haha. Hopefully this helped with your selection. Overall, I would definitely recommend to come here for lunch.“

“Very well decorated, seems humble from the outside but once you step in you are greeted with great service and a genuine Asian atmosphere. They have all you can eat sushi here and many options to choose from including my favorite CHICKEN tempura roll! I was able to order some salmon, crunchy roll, spicy tuna roll.. and if you don’t want to do the sushi you can always have the chicken or steak hibachi which comes with a sort of honey bbq sauce on top of it. Both were very delicious. They honestly put a lot of protein in the sushi so if you’re a fan of the raw, go for it! The only thing was that in some fo the google images it appears to say the all you can eat is 23 dollars but it’s actually 29 which is still a pretty incredible deal for the amount they offer to you, but of course 23 would be better lol“

“This is our usual Monday destination for lunch. There is a wide selection of diabetic friendly meals. I've even managed to convince them to make me "X over rice" without the rice. I occasionally go off program and get dumplings, and they are totally worth it.Vegetarian options: The cucumber salad is one of my favorites. The egg with tomatoes is also delicious. They have a vegetarian section on the menu, though don't overlook the vegetarian appetizers.“

“Amazing decor, friendly staff, and delicious food. Sat at the bar when our other pre-show dinner plans fell through and needed a quick bite. They serve full menu at the bar. The seating is comfortable and gorgeous with the modern cherry blossom decor. New downtown fav, go there you won't be disappointed.“
