“Been here through many iterations and happy to see it doing well again! We stopped in for drinks while visiting my daughter and learned they were having karaoke that Friday night. Not only was the place lively and fun but the staff there participated and made it more fun. Gretchen is an awesome bartender! Food was tasty and fresh. The KJ that evening is very entertaining and really got the crowd going. We will return on Fridays for karaoke for sure!“

“Awesome spot on Mount Washington - my tacos (I got corn; you can get corn or flour tacos) had great flavor, were seasoned appropriately. The chips and guacamole were crunchy and fresh, and the whole atmosphere and vibe of the place was conducive to just kicking back and having a good time. Service was friendly but a bit slow (weren't many people there, but took over thirty minutes from when we placed the order to when we got the food; maybe there were to-go orders who ordered ahead?). Given the quality of the meal though and good service, I was impressed and would come back.“

“I love this down to earth blue collar lounge. They keep it simple and so are the prices. It is a great place for a burger and beer after riding the mountain bike in South Park. They can handle a group of friends too. The waitress and cook are very accommodating. They have daily specials like mum use to make. Who does like grilled cheese and a cup of hot tomato soup?!“

Adorable Greek owner, a talker *love it*, entertained us with life experiences, cafe history, three owners over 91 years…award winning foods…the gyro, the spicy sicilian, and the Spartan (the hubby had this, fabulous), each one, separately, winners of first place, three years in a row. It's super friendly, but in representation by the staff and the locals that crowd around the bar, and as it's a cash establishment, it's more than affordable. It's a real dive bar, so the beer and drink selection will not be too extensive, but if you're looking for 60 different kinds on a rotating tap, you're in the wrong place. It's dimly lit but no longer smokey, which is great when you just want to hide from the world.Nothing bad to be said about the place, and it's nice to be treated like you're part of the neighborhood, even as a married-on person (my husband lived here about a decade earlier, and so he's still recognized by staff and regulars).“

“What a fun little spot to stop in for a drink before & after an event. We dropped by for the 1st time b4 the Pens game (& after if course). The owner Jimmy was so gracious, so friendly to talk with. The crowd wasn't too bad (we even started taking to a few other PENs fans, that was nice) , the food was really good. So if you're looking for a good place to hang out, grab a bite & a drink be sure to stop at Shale's. I know I'll definitely be back.“
