“This review is LONG overdue. My sister & I visited Charleston July 2023. The night we flew in from Seattle we had Chasing Sage for dinner - what a delight! From the atmosphere to the food to the incredible staff and chef, it was an amazing experience. My sister and I still randomly bring up our experience at Chasing Sage, and how delicious the food was. Honestly, we'll probably be back to SC and this place is a decent part of the reason why. Cannot express enough how much we enjoyed this place! *edit to add that at the time there was some sort of a seasonal drink on the menu that included peas and my sister thought it was to die for!”

“Lunch...terrific. started with fried green tomato blt sandwich that was off the chart. Sinfully delicious... now that I have your attention please note this sandwich was paired with deviled eggs. An over-the-top combination that takes you to an over-the-top state of pure bliss. Rest assured that you will be in a dream state after this meal.”

“Great restaurant! We had lunch here after walking around the park and rainbow row, conveniently located. The grilled salmon was absolutely delicious and the gazpacho was refreshing and tasty. The tacos were just okay, they were the best but they good for lunch. Mahi was the best, tuna is a seared tuna btw and the shrimp was just okay and fried. “We devoured the most epic dinner at Azur Charleston last night to celebrate our anniversary! If you haven't been, get ready for a taste bud explosion! We started with fancy cocktails that made us feel like high rollers, then feasted on an Azur burger with beef braised in burgundy on a croissant bun - it was like a party in our mouths! And don't even get me started on the lamb wrap with Boston lettuce and crème fraiche, it was like a flavor bomb went off! The service was top-notch, especially when we sat at the bar and got entertained by the bartender's fancy mixology tricks. What a night to remember in downtown Charleston!”

“Shiki looks unassuming on the outside, but the food is amazing and the interior is adorable! Since it is such a small space, you need a reservation to guarantee a spot. I was able to make same day reservations though! We got lucky, someone canceled! Even though this is a sushi spot, they had vegetarian options, and they had non-sushi options like the pork katsu. Their veggie sushi roll was SO good. I love when places get creative with veggie rolls and put a variety of veggies in. I also tried the roll that had lemon and jalapeño. I'm not the biggest fan of crab, but this roll was amazing. The lemon adds the perfect amount of zest! Plus, it's fun to try rolls I've never seen before. Even though we were absolutely stuffed, I needed to order the fried ice cream. It was SO GOOD. The fry batter is super light and crispy, and the red bean ice cream was amazing. If you're in Charleston, you should definitely try to get a reservation here!”

“Been following Chef Nikko since his Mansueta's pop up days and very proud of him and all he has accomplished thus far! Kultura definitely did not disappoint! The Sisig Carbonara and Bistek were very good and the Ube latte was the icing on the cake! We will definitely be back for another dinner visit but also looking forward to trying their brunch. Kultura is small but very intimate with the kitchen staff and Chef Nikko himself up close and personal working their magic. Highly recommend!”

“I would argue that Malgón has the best bread service in Charleston. We stopped in for appetizers and wine. Our server was great and the patio was suuuuper cute. Blankets were provided on the patio as well, which was the perfect touch on this chilly evening. I’ve dinned here a few times and this is easily one of my favorite spots in Charleston.”

“Highly recommended by cocktail loving co-workers, I visited the Last Saint twice - once in the main bar and once in the Annex. I loved this place. Located just a little off the people heavy King Street Last Saint had a front room which is very grandma-chic, like a bar met an antique store and had a kid, and a back room, the Annex, which is mellow, intimate, and delightful. The difference is that the front bar has a fixed menu of delightful cocktails and the Annex doesn't believe in menus. They need no menus because they are awesome. Both visits I had a great time. The Last Saint offers amazing, inventive cocktails while acknowledging the classics with all the hospitality I enjoy in Charleston. I was shocked to find that I was remembered from my first trip. I don't consider myself noteworthy, so I was taken off guard with the recognition. It was such an amazing experience!”

“I ordered take-out. The young lady that took my order left half of my order out of the bag. always check for exactness. She was so sweet and apologetic. The waffle was smaller than I remembered. The whites of my over medium eggs were a little too runny. But the food was delicious.”

“I love the coffee I make in my own kitchen- and I also savor the 20 min or so sitting at home drinking my delicious coffee in the morning before I get into my day. It takes a lot to get me to break from that routine. I prefer to meet someone for almost anything else other than coffee- to protect that time for myself in my own kitchen with the wonderful coffee I make at home. That was at least until I tried the coffee at Bottleneck. I had it for the first time several years ago at a local farmers market- the Vietnamese coffee (as another reviewer mentioned is mind blowing). I loved it but I tend to be a coffee purist- don't add anything. I want to taste the coffee. Now Bottleneck comes to MUSC- where I work. I will now forgo my coffee at home for a coffee from Bottleneck. I mostly get the Nitro- cool, black coffee infused with nitrogen. No ice. The varietal changes regularly so I know I am getting a world tour over time. Sometimes I switch it up and get hot black coffee, sometimes iced black coffee. No matter, it's always delicious.”

“The staff at The Ryder Hotel is just incredible. Everyone we came across was so friendly, helpful and always in high spirits. It was such a pleasure to stay there and not to mention how beautiful everything is! Great food and location too. Thank you again for such a pleasant stay.”

“If you're near the pineapple fountain at the waterfront park in Charleston and in the mood for some good food and drinks, this is the place to go. The food here is always fresh and delicious; especially the fish and chips. The place is covered in dollar bills left by prior guests with lots of interesting drawings on them so your eyes will never get bored. The bar itself is a little small, but most go here for the food and dining area anyways. The only thing that was lacking was the absence of any air conditioning, so it was quite humid and warm inside. Other than that, I would definitely recommend coming here for a quick bite to eat and some beers along with it.Parking: Free street parking around the neighborhood.”

“I don't think we could've found a better coffee shop in Charleston! This was a local recommendation for us, and I am so happy that we got to stop in here. The baristas were super friendly and the atmosphere was perfect. I ordered an iced chai, we both got the quiche, and I also got a peach pop tart on my way out. We decided to sit outside since the weather was beautiful. They had the cutest outdoor seating which really tied the whole experience together. There is also indoor seating but we couldn't pass up sitting outside on such a nice day. The iced chai was delicious and the quiche was cheesy and yummy too! Parking was a bit of a scavenger hunt but it's totally worth it!”

“Enjoyed a flavorful meal at Chez Nous. The menu of the day included 2 apps, 2 entrees and dessert options - all hand written by the chef. Highly suggest making a reservation as it’s a smaller restaurant. Also, there is no parking, so ride share or garage/street parking will be necessary.”

“Excellent service, excellent food! This restaurant was one of the few that is able to handle a large reservation (for us 13 people). We were split into two tables and had to order family style (meaning they serve a variety of dishes, you are able to tell your waiter if you have any specific requests though). The food was so amazing, for the first course they gave my table of 6 two pizzas, meatballs and a caesar salad. The second course they served a roasted chicken with gnocchi and asparagus. It came with 2 pastas (a red sauce and a carbonara) as well as brussel sprouts. The dessert was a tiramisu. The caesar salad was SO good, it was well dressed and had the right amount of parm! A person in our group has a celiac allergy and the staff here were so so accommodating. It was impressive how knowledgable they were in ensuring there was no cross contamination (asking questions such as if it was ok to fire the gluten free pizza in the same oven as the others). They were able to create gluten free versions of the pizza, pasta, and dessert. In addition in each course they clearly communicated which dishes were specially made as well as which of the normal dishes were safe as well. Overall super impressed!”

Not your Daddy's Mexican restaurant.Update 4.16.2024: unfortunately the food quality has decreased since Patty left Rancho Lewis. Our last few visits have seen a significant slip in food quality - stale tortillas, room temp food, un-melted cheese in Chilis Rellenos, .... the food just misses the mark. Some items are still excellent, but there are disappointments also in execution.”

“Great food, great service, beautiful decor. Be prepared for an unusually loud interior due to hard surfaces everywhere. Marinated olives with orange zest and pizza were awesome. Probably need a loud atmosphere to turn tables because the pizza is so good and so many people order it, but just don’t expect a peaceful atmosphere. In a hurry and want great pizza in a place that looks super cool and feels lively and loud with incredibly friendly staff? Go for it! Sometimes that’s what you want to celebrate something and to keep things upbeat. We prefer to be able to have a conversation and relax, but it’s probably great for young people who are on dates and nervous because they don’t know how to have a conversation yet or people who like drinking at dinner and cackling and hollerin’ at each other.”

We walked by here and thought it would be good. The restaurant isn't exactly the cleanest and to food isn't exactly the highest quality that you may be used to in Charleston but it was pretty good, especially for the price. My husband and both ordered a drink and entree and shared a roll, all for about $50. It's almost impossible to get all that anywhere else. I even opted for the duck, which was a thigh portion but I really liked it. The curry was good and the vegetables were fresh. The roll wasn't very fancy but they had some that sounded really good to choose from. At under $10 for a roll, the price was right. Our server was nice and the food came out pretty quick. This looks like one of the hot spots for the college kids, probably because it is so affordable and it's pretty darn good. I'd definitely recommend and if we were local, we would definitely be back.”

“A small but quality Chick-fil-A on The Citadel campus. This one is located within The Citadel Canteen building beside Mark Clark Hall. No, you do not have to be a cadet to go eat there as it is open to the public. The dining area is always clean, and the food always comes out great. They are usually busy serving cadets, but the line is always served quickly. Overall, it's a great little fast food restaurant.Parking: Free parking lot just behind the building.”

There are lower seating options in the bar and terrace areas.”

“We love Harbinger. The coffee is great but the pastries are TO DIE FOR. The Spice girl is one of my favorite pastries in Charleston. It’s a small place so it can get kind of busy, but we have always been able to find a spot when we visit. Would highly recommend to anyone!!”

“The cutest little spot! Saw a video on TikTok raving about it and had to visit. The folks working were so lovely and kind- politely answered questions about each item. We grabbed a sandwich, a strawberry biscuit, a slice of honey pie, a slice of olive oil cake, and two pistachio cream sandwich cookies + two iced coffees. Sampled a little bit of everything and loved every single bite- I cannot choose a favorite. 100% will be back! Thank you!”

“I really appreciated this place! Cute little spot you wanted even notice if you were driving over the speed limit. I got a burger and fries and girlfriend got chicken salad sammy and side of pickles. I hate mentioning a side item first but these were some of the best fries I have ever had. The crisp was phenomenal! The burger was very good and the toppings were very fresh. The burger was "clean" in the fact the bun stayed in tact and the burger and toppings didn't just crumble off. The chicken salad was super flavorful and had big chunks of chicken! The service was ELITE. Just two youngins in there but super attentive and very kind. Made ya feel important. As for inside this place, it's so cool. Wine bottles to buy, and coffee beans and tea to purchase. Overall a really cool spot that I hope sticks!”

The fries are cut and made in house, making them the best fries in town. Staff is usually swapped but will always greet you with a smile. The food can take a bit longer when they're busy, definitely worth the wait if you've got the time to hang out!”

“I finally got to try daps, I always want to try but always tend to go to my regular spots but today I really wanted a breakfast burrito so I sought out a new spot for me! I ordered online because I heard that it can get really busy and it was easy to do so, I went and picked it up at the counter. I ordered the classic breakfast burrito and it was really yummy, I will say I am more of a spicy breakfast burrito kind of person but this was savory and cheesy! They put a cheese sauce inside and it was yummy, the eggs were very fluffy and the onions and potatoes were yummy! I think if I had a hot sauce or something to put on top it would be a 10/10 for me they give a green sauce on the side but it wasn't spicy. I still loved trying this place and I think next time I'll order a breakfast sandwich. Also their drinks looked so yummy. Definitely will be back for one of those.”

She was most helpful in suggesting the amount and toppings. My mobility issues allowed me to go to the Lobby and receive my Pizza. Leo brought it to the desk, he was very nice, appreciative and caring. April and Leo are great employees to have, they accommodate others issues and make it happen. I am most grateful and thankful. “This place is a super gem. After trying other Pho places, I found this one to be best. The chef sat down with me and explained how she makes the broths from scratch (no MSG!) Portions are huge with very fresh meats and vegetables. The pho is served with a side plate of limes, cilantro and/or basil and bean sprouts. The place is clean and the staff is great. We finished our lunch having been there a total of one hour , enjoying talk with nephew who we hadn’t seen in months when another employee rudely and abruptly said “so, are you ready to settle up?” Never have we felt like we were being ejected from a restaurant! And the real rub is there were at least 3 empty tables and a booth in our seating area. We three were so stunned by her rude manners, we politely gave her our card, (and she took the liberty of pre-selecting a 22% tip which we gladly gave our server)paid our bill and left - NEVER TO RETURN!”

We were seated and saw at least 2 Parties of more than 6 people. We love eating at California Dreaming for special events and to start this event out like this was not good.”

For eats, we had only appies -- crab cake deviled eggs (delicious but couldn't tell there was crab), brussel sprouts (pretty tasty but a bit overdone), street corn tostada (absolutely the best of what we ordered!), and the Pork & Pistachio Terrine (wouldn't order again). Overall, Prohibition provided an inviting, comfortable experience with mostly really tasty, flavorful treats to nosh on. If I found myself in the area again, I'd come back.”

We shared the stuffed mushrooms as a starter and they were spiced just right and had a very good taste. My wife ordered a house salad with the green goddess dressing along with a starter portion of seared scallops. She really loves scallops and saud these were the BEST she evef ate. I ordered veal marsala served with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. All were very, very tasty and cooked perfectly. Great experience and definitely a place we will return to.”

Had the porcini rubbed prime rib with mushroom conserva and it was heavenly. We also ordered sides of the rotisserie drippings roasted potatoes which tasted like they were right out of your grandmas best pot of stew, and the cremini mushrooms that were delicious! So happy we found this spot!”

“Went by for pastries for the weekend. Not at all sad about it!! While I truly enjoy good pastries I don't like anything too sweet. I got a pecan bar which was delicious and not sweet as pecan pie- thank goodness! Would get it again. The pop tart was fun. Never cared for those in the store or other bakeries but liked this one. The coffee cake was Devine! I love cinnamon so was excited there was a lot of cinnamon in it. Now, I got a whoopie pie expecting it to be too sweet. Started eating it before I got out of the parking lot and almost went back for more but I had other treats to eat. Thank goodness I don't live nearby! I will be making the drive many more times though! Excellent experience!”
