“I was not terribly impressed with my 2 visits to Rodney's Charleston location, especially considering all the hype around it. The original Scott's in Hemingway is insanely good and well worth traveling a great distance for. Rodney's Charleston location, not so much. Everything that I had, both times - the pork and the sides - were simply meh. I wanted to like it, but I really didn't.Update May 2024 - I visited again, and this time I found the food to be quite good! Maybe they had some kinks to work out.“

“Saw all the hype of this place so we had to check it out. Took the scenic drive from Ridgeville to West Ashley and it did not disappoint! We tried the ribs, sausage, BARBACOA, beef cheek, collards, and Mac and cheese! We will definitely return!“

“Second time coming to Poogan's and it was once again that best restaurant we hit on our trip! The food was delicious, all of their homemade sauces are amazing, and the drinks came out great! The sandwiches are packed with meat and definitely worth the stop! We can't wait to stop in next year!“

“Yall, this place is an insanely good hidden gem. They have AMAZING food, that tastes like its made from scratch, is cooked as fast as any fast food place (they even have a drive thru) and they are also cheaper than pretty much ANY fast food chain. It's honestly mind boggling. But on top of all of this..the staff is so sweet and amazing and they really make you feel like your the most special. This place is my new favorite restaurant and I will be eating here over and over and over again! Thanks for being awesome yall, keep up the great work! <3“

“Was looking for some good BBQ, in particular Briscket, and landed at Southern Roots Smokehouse. After receiving a very friendly greeting and tips on the food selection; my family and I enjoyed a very delicious meal. Two of us had the plates and one had the brisket burger. Both of which were very good. So good that we ended up ordering some extra banana pudding. Overall the service, the food, and the atmosphere was very enjoyable and would defiantly visit again.“

“I didn't have time to dine in this time, but I love the rustic decor and hospitality of those who work here.Parking: There are a few spaces in the front of the restaurant and few in back as it will block the drive thru.Kid-friendliness: Very wholesome, polite people and atmosphere.“
