To all Veterans of color, I repeat do not go to Little Jacks downtown Charleston. My family and I was treated very horrible. My first red flag was that I saw a African American family leave. When we walked in the waiter didn't want to seat us and told it was a hr wait( the place was empty and only had two tables of people which were white). We waited and was put in the back. The server then said very rudely " sit here and we will get to you". That was the last straw we left. This place should be closed down.. Veterans we didn't fight to be treated like we don't belong here. This ruin my entire Christmas weekend in Charleston for my family.
I would not recommend this place to anyone. As an interracial couple, we felt out of place the minute we walked in. The group of older women sitting by the door would not stop staring at us in a rude manner. I figured me wearing my Afghanistan Veteran hat, I would get some acceptance. But that was not the case. As we finally spoke with the host of the restaurant in a pretty empty establishment, I was not asked how many but met with a "Can I help you?" I asked for a table for a party of 5, was told that it would be at least an hour wait. Mind you, the restaurant was empty. As a Latino Veteran, we felt disrespected, and the fact that my children had to experience that was even worse. We watched the white people come after us get seated no problems. Should've known not to go in, when we saw the black family walking out of the place looking unhappy.

If you are of color, this is not the place to go. My family and I heard good things about things about this place, the food anyway. So we figured we would try it out. The minute we walked in, the people that were seated would not take their eyes off of us. The bar staff had looks of disgust and not one person welcomed us in. It took a few minutes for one man to come and say anything to us. We asked for a table for 5 and he said it would be an hour wait. Now, keep in mind there were several open tables, and only a handful of people at the bar. An hour wait for an empty restaurant?? Makes no sense. My kids are mixed and have experienced the racism and stares before, but this place just made me feel some type of way. We will never go back and I will never recommend this place to anyone.
