It has been a while since we tried Jake's Place.. I was pleased at the offerings on the menu; fish had hushpuppies with it, slaw available, and of course, french fries were on the menu. I can't remember if there were white beans or not, and I like white beans or baked beans with my fish. The fish was really good with no "muddy" flavor, and the portion was plentiful. Their burger was good. It did seem a little higher priced than other similar food options. What will possibly prevent me from returning is the vibe that I got from the tin pan and basket on which the food was served. Also, the "hushpuppies" didn't seem to have any onions in them, and they were a "sweet" cornbread, which I have never had in hushpuppies before. If these two things were changed as well as the huge potholes in the back parking lot, I would be excited about Jakes' Place as another meat and 3 option.
