Restaurant Note: Blue Corn Harvest: G’town. While I don’t like to critique a place on a single visit, this mini-rant is based on multiple visits. To start with, we love the food there, and the people are friendly and kind. The service has always been hit or miss. Today’s visit was special. We waited for about 40 minutes for an appetizer. There were only 4 tables being used to the right of the entry, so it wasn’t busy. The server, who seemed like a good guy, was no where to be seen. There were about 2 to 4 managers/supervisors around, but they were totally clueless as to what was going on in the restaurant. Finally, after 40 minutes, or so, we got one’s attention, and asked he could check on the appetizer. Another manager-supervisor came by, with the server, and said there was a mixup in the kitchen. A few minutes later they brought it out. Our wine glasses were empty for about 30 of the minutes…I believe the server’s issue was lack of training. BTW, appetizer was cold !!! Then, waiting for the check, was another experience. We got there around 3:40. Around 5:00, we couldn’t find the server, or anyone else, to grab the check. Incredibly, they were having a team meeting in the bar area. My wife went up, and asked to ring us out…Customers should not have to walk around the restaurant looking for their food, for a glass a wine, or to get the check. Who has a team meeting in the middle of happy hour, and at dinner time. This manager team needs to hit the road !!! Absolutely clueless. No idea who, or what, the customer needs are. We’re putting Blue Corn on the bench for a few months. Too much great competition in the area. Spent 1 1/2 hours to get a glass of wine and appetizer. We usually get a couple of drinks each, an appetizer and entrees. We rountinely spend over $100.00, but today, we got by for $30.00 !!! Thanks to the BC team !!! BTW, we still tipped 25% because none of this was the server’s fault. Lack of leadership. JG
