“This is a hidden treasure. I stopped in once to get gas, grabbed a chopped beef sandwich on my way out. WOW, the best and really cheap. It's an old convenience store and there are a couple of small tables if you want to dine in. Brisket is $10 a pound. Drop in, eat some, and take some home. I think they have BBQ on Fri-Sun. It helps to speak a little Spanish.”

“Great place for kids!!This place was recommended to us by a friend and we decided to stop in on a random Wednesday to check it out. The property is a bit far (we are based in NW Austin), but it is beautiful. It has ample outdoor seating - I would keep this in mind if the weather isn't awesome... not as much indoor. However, if the weather is beautiful, outdoor is the way to go.We are always looking for places to go to entertain our toddler and this fits the bill. Playscape for him, food for everyone, and drinks for mom and dad. Keep in mind the play scape isn't closed in, so keep an eye on the littles, they could run out. I only mention this because knowing this fact is important to me, but definitely not a ding on this place.”

“The staff are great and so very friendly! The atmosphere is beautiful and pleasant, with plenty of large trees and flower beds. There is lots of space to spread out and plenty of outdoor seating with tables. Indoor seating too. Very clean! 4 food trucks are there with tacos, Thai, bbq/biscuits, and American fare. They also have pastries from SourDuck, which are very good. She recommended some foods that we had never tried before and they were excellent. Sometimes hot pot can be overwhelming but with amazing servers like her the experience was wonderful”

“This food truck is absolutely worth a visit! Be warned - they only do online orders (no walk ups) so save time by ordering ahead or be prepared to scan and wait (at 11am on a Saturday we waited 45 min for one biscuit sandwich - I would say this is about what I'd expect for a brunch time wait). Tucked away behind radio bar and coffee this food truck serves a legit smoked meat and biscuit mash up. The biscuits are flakey, buttery, and slightly sweet. The perfect conduit for their succulent, Smokey brisket. 10/10 no notes - delicious.”

“New place for me on the southeast side of Austin. It's a taco truck called LA Tunira 512.very limited menu. Basically your choice is birra (taco, burrito, quesadilla, or in grilled cheese which I want to try).I obviously had the tacos and WOW. Really good. Basically the birra is perfect. Tender. Juicy. Ideal.I asked about the orange colored tortillas, which are also sublime. Orange because they are home made and fried in the excess grease from making the birra.I rarely give five stars on a first visit, but this is it.”

I spent 3 months in Taiwan before moving to Austin and was craving some Taiwanese fried chicken and this hit the spot. Plus, everything is made to order and comes out super fresh (that said, don't come in a rush, make sure you've got a little time to enjoy their new spot at The Thicket and hang for a bit).
