If you're not afraid to try different things, I highly recommend it. The burger was cooked with a little crunch as well as the sausage. The fries were nicely seasoned.“

“As one of Houston's older establishments, Stanton's City Bites managed to morph from what was once a convenience store to one of the city's beloved burger destinations. A lot has changed in the First World over the last half century, but Stanton's has remained one of the city's most popular businesses. For me, it's become one of my favorite places to enjoy an American classic and is a beloved Asian-owned business. The place is easy to miss for a lot of first timers, since the building looks more like a house than it does a restaurant. The beautiful mural on the outside is what usually gets my attention but it's literally on the corner of Houston Ave and Edwards Street. Parking can be a challenge at times, but the steady flow of customers in and out means the wait to find a space won't be long. The interior reminds me of a renovated retro diner. I love the vintage decor pieces adorned on the wall and it didn't dawn on me that the place had Asian management until I saw the urns and Chinese characters behind the counter. It was a surprise but I'm all for it. (#1) The staff was extremely kind and current owner Theresa Fong and her adult children were doing a masterful job at running the show, cooking the food, and greeting every customer. Every time I've gotten a burger here, it's been great. The 1/2 Ib beef patties are a welcome departure from the smashburger trend that has been sweeping the city the past few years, and the heartiness of their stacked burgers is my usual preference. Truth be told, I haven't really had a bad burger here yet, thus I tend to get something different here each time. The Miss Piggie (ground bacon + beef patty + house candied bacon + hashbrown + cheddar + lettuce + tomato) is an easy go-to, as it combines a lot of sweet and savory textures. I do feel their turkey burger is highly underrated, and the holy cow (5 different cheeses) is cheesy in the best way. The blue moon (crumbled bleu cheese) is my pseudo guilty pleasure, but the monster burger (1 Ib of meat, 1/4 bacon, 4 slices of American cheese, with all the fixins) is the one item I can expect a nice food coma. Combine this with their tator tots, french fries, onion rings or pickle chips. There are also many burger alternatives, from veggie options to other sandwiches. Their club sandwiches are stacked (literally) and the tuna salad as well as the BLT, or smoked turkey sandwiches sound fabulous. I've heard good things about their chicken caesar. The prices aren't back breaking and the takeout is so popular here that I'd recommend calling ahead of time. They are a friend bunch and whenever I'm in the area I'm always debating on making a stop to enjoy a good, casual, and delicious burger. ___________ (#1) Is this not the most Houston thing ever?“

“Wow! First of all; the beautiful lady at the window reminded me of my grandmother and had me literally fighting back tears! The food was made with love! Love! We had the chili cheese fries which were fire! That chili is delicious! We ordered the double cheese burgers with bacon they were so big we had to save half for later! The meat was flavorful and the toppings were fresh! We closed things out with pineapple and cookies n cream shakes and they too did NOT disappoint! “Husband & I had a little staycation downtown & decided to try out Federal American Grill for dinner. We were blown away by the food. We didn't quite expect to say that about a location with the items on the menu.We got the spinach dip to start & it was tasty. Everything is fresh & made from scratch. They bring you fresh biscuits with a delicious pepper jelly. My husband loves Philly cheesesteak & ordered that & was enamored with it.I got the freedom burger & I haven't had a burger that tasty in many years, possibly ever.We shared the Bourbon bread pudding & it did not disappoint. We ordered a slice of carrot cake to go & it was HUGE.The service was excellent, an amazingly pleasant experience.The restaurant itself & atmosphere is a vibe & made for an even better date night out.Next time we come here, we're getting the scallops & the shrimp & grits.“

“I got the Amboy burger and hand cut fries. The burger had interesting soft white bun (slightlyyyy sweet)- while it was unique and decent, I prefer a more toasted (?) bun. The patty was quite thick so while the burger looked deceptively small, it was quite big and justified the price. I didn't love the patty consistency but the burger overall tasted good, although nothing inherently unique or Filipino. The fries were pretty underwhelming- next time I would try their loaded fries.“

“Ernie's had amazing food! I have lived in the area for almost 40 years and have never gone there due to the fact they close so early in the day. I can't get there during their hours. However, my friend hosted a private event there, and finally, I was able to eat there. The food was so good!! I seriously am not over exaggerating. You must eat here. Staff was super good too. 5 star restaurant for sure!!!“

“Great place I thought it was own by black people but there Hispanic and they cook like my mom I got 2 six pieces of chicken and fries it also came with 2 soda's I love the chicken it was seasoned real good with out the sauce. I will go back 6 piece of chicken is $8.00 dollars with fries and a drink it's $11.00 dollars. They have other menus like fish and fried rice, burgers, ext. “Finally a Dominican-owned restaurant on my side of town! My wife is Dominican, and despite being an amazing cook, she likes to go out and eat Dominican food. We live on the Northeast side and until now, have had to travel minimum 45 minutes to the handful of Dominican restaurants we frequent because apparently, all the Dominicans in Houston live outside the Western boundary of Beltway 8 ?. We only came across this place today because they have a little Dominican flag in one of their windows, and my wife spotted it with her Dominican eagle eyes as we drove by. They had Bachata playing on the overhead speakers, mofongo and morir soñando on the menu, and all the food we tried at our first visit today was amazing. This is our go-to spot from now on. ??♥️“
