“I recommend that they stop serving old hard fried chicken wings & large thighs w/all that fat on ToGo orders so when U drive all the way home you're stuck with a bad order. I bought 3 orders Fifth Ward Specials $36.60 & 1 Red Bean w/Rice + 1 Macaroni w/Cheese $6.69 which was not good at all. Tasted old & we don't live very close by but my church is near by & does a lot of business with Frenchy's but for me & mine we will not do business with Frenchy's. This was at your East Fwy. Store“

“This was my first time eating Vegan food. I admit that I was reluctant and skeptical at first. I was truly blown away with this dishes. I ordered the jambalaya nachos, my daughter had the fried mushrooms and my son had the Cajun burger. Everything was delicious and way beyond my expectations. “Had mommy/daughter lunch date here with my 7 yr old. We ordered oxtail empanada, oxtail plate with greens and yams and catfish basket with plantain chips. The oxtail empanada was amazing, tasty and meaty. The my 7 yr said the oxtail needed more seasoning but the gravy was good and I agree. The yams and greens were perfectly cooked and tasty. The catfish was crispy and seasoned welled. The plantain chips were tasteless and too hard. I understand they were chips but it was fried too hard. We will return bc overall it was good.“

“Looking for a good spot in Houston for something we can’t get in Cali and came across Love’s. So glad we did!!! The food was fantastic. I got the boudin balls and the chicken and sausage gumbo and my girl got the seafood fries and the voodoo eggrolls. Everything was packed with flavor and spice and well loved all of it. “It has been years since my last visit. Pre-pandemic actually. My family requested this place.Of course the line was extremely long and parking is a beast. Why the air conditioner couldn't keep everyone cool is beyond me? ?But I came for the food. I had the ox tails over with rice, with yams, green beans, corn bread, and a lemon cake. One cousin had fried chicken, yams for both sides, and a lemon cake plus red Kool aid. Other cousin had a vegetable plate and lemonade.Godmother had baked chicken with raspberry tea.My beverage of choice was 2 bottles of coke. The tea, lemonade and red Kool aid was simply sugar in a cup. They even got bottles of water for each to try to water it down without success. Stick to the can or bottles.My plates was brimming with sides. The ox tails were mostly bones but the sides tried to make the price point seem almost acceptable.My cousin stated that the vegetable plate was too salty. So keep that in mindInflation has done a whammy on the prices. Overall, a good place for an occasional soul food cuisine and a pre-diabetic drink.“

“My wife was craving pupusas but I was craving pollo asado so we ordered both.The pupusas were big and stuffed with cheese. The curtido had the perfect “pickled” taste. The salsa was tasty with a kick!The pollo asado plate fed us both and we had enough left over for a second round each. The pollo asado was very flavorful and the smoked sausages were a nice surprise. The rice was good and the charro beans were delicious. They had a good amount of sausage and bacon in them.“

You will not leave this place hungry or disappointed. In fact, you may not be able to leave after you fill up on nothing but soul food goodness and maybe a little something for your sweet tooth.Their peach cobbler is perfect.
