“Short story first: Food is amazing. Plenty of options. Great seasoning. Nothing heavy handed. The proteins are cooked just right. Tender and juicy for all dishes so far. All priced appropriately and taste better than the price. Margaritas come in one size so far, jumbo rounded stem glasses.

I’ve had the Juarez (pork fajita platillo) with the touch of red chile sauce, beyond just wonderful. Carnitas Fajitas with the chunks of pork, probably slow cooked, and then grilled on the comal for a bit of crispy texture while retaining a very tender bite. Bites of the Mahi Mahi with spinach, mushroom and shrimp, also wonderful. Stuffed chicken… the beef enchilada… queso chips and salsa… and more grilled or chefs choice dishes. So far, all good. Beans are consistently good with enough slightly thickened broth to drink at the end. The Reuben’s chipotle chicken could use more heat, but was great.

I just went again and edited the above to add foods. On the recommendation of others, I ordered the churros for dessert. These things do not break the bank. They are not small, and aren’t basic with some ice cream. Nope. These are a delicacy. These tasted like a vanilla custard cream, but by some pro chef magic, the cream is filled and they are twice fried to heat the insides. It cuts like hot cheese with a slight pull. They have a lighter color than typical dulce or cajeta filling. The sweetness on first bite is light, letting you truly taste them for what they are. Two per person is well sufficient, and only $5 for 4 pieces. I could have stopped with just one, but I can’t be trusted to reheat them.

If you are looking for somewhere quiet, this is your place for now. Don’t tell everyone, but unless they have a party of 40-70, which they can handle, it is calm at the late part of the night.“

“The chocobananas are exceptionally delicious. Their description does not do them justice. I hate bananas but I will come back for them as often as possible. They are a composed of empanadas filled with chocolate and bananas. Topped with cinnamon. Served with vanilla ice cream and a sugar cookie. It is the perfect dessert for any occasion. Boy, can this guy cook! 3 of my dining friends had Sour Cream Enchiladas. The portions were most ample so there was take home, but they all raved about the flavor and freshness of the dish.
I have been on a Chile Relleno in Katy quest since Chuy’s quite offering their crispy Rellenos. I should have had them tonight, but instead opted for the beef fajita Queso Flameado’s. A HUGE portion of bubbling cheese and onion interspersed with lots of Fajita meat. This dish is unbelievably delicious!
Yes, I know I should have taken pictures, but we all devoured the meal.
El Asador also has a large party room that held 35 tonight.
If you haven’t been, you owe it to your “Love of Latin” food to stop in at El Asador. Tell Pablo, who is ALWAYS there, Great Day from me!“

“Vegetarians beware!We Stopped at the Katy Location for dinner. The atmosphere was great and the server even better. We had Table side guacamole which was excellent.We ordered enchiladas and requested extra vegetables and less cheese. The kitchen made Cheese enchiladas with hardly any vegetables.The server tried to get the kitchen to remake it..the second enchilada came out fast and had all the vegetables we requested. The enchilada was Stone Cold The kitchen failed again.Thanks for trying perhaps this restaurant isn't a good choice for vegetarians. Others like Lupe's, Spanish Flowers and Ambrizo have a vegetarian menu.Quote disappointed since we work close to this location. Will try it again one more time.
