“Pretty chill place, not a lot of people on the bar side when I was there. Bartender was decent as far as attentiveness.The foodd was tasty, so there no complaints from me. Could use more cheese on the Nachos... don't really like having to order extra queso & guacamole (not included).“

“My husband and I went to Gumbo Mama for the first time today. The food was absolutely delicious. The Gumbo was better than any I have ever had at a restaurant. The Shrimp Po’boy was amazingly delicious. The shrimp were large, the tartar sauce was creamy with a hint of sweetness. The bread which can make or break a Po’boy was the perfect compliment to a perfect sandwich. Also, the Socket-it-to-me cake was melt in your mouth moist. We definitely plan to go back and try other items on the menu.“

“This place is amazing and wonderful. We had a lady had us a flyer when we stopped at waco and i10 saying to try it. I thought why not for lunch the next day. I am blown away. The prices seem high but portions are fitting. One dish is easy enough for two, but you would be missing out if you didn't get more than one dish Give this place a go. Will be back.“

“Excellent boudin balls! You can buy them fresh & ready to eat or frozen to take home. The boudin is very meaty with great rice. Can be bought fresh, cold vacuum packed or frozen. The store has a great selection of Louisiana food items. This is truly a market!“

“Omg! This place has really good food. Our party of 15 tried out a lot of their food and EVERYONE raved about their dish. I had shrimp and grits. I'm really picky about that dish. Grits we're cooked right, creamy and I wanted more. Shrimp cooked perfection. They have a great chef. Price very reasonable $10-20 at lunch time. Our waitress was great considering we came without warning but she handled us and our separate checks perfectly. This will become a favorite.“

“Went here for a quick lunch decided last minute that I want this. It's right next to Chick-fil-A, not from this area but it was quick and easy the wait times is not bad. Order my food online I ordered the 2 chicken tender and 3 shrimp, got in the car and tasted my food it was delicious tenders and shrimp were seasoned right and French fries was seasoned well also. “Capt. Benny's is Capt Benny's is Capt Benny's. I have been going to Capt Benny's since I can remember. At least 50 years. Thousands of meals over the decades with family and friends. Some no longer on this earth. I still enjoy the old shrimp boat trawler design. Reminds me of my summer's in Cameron Louisiana working with my grandparents on their shrimp boat. Brings back so many memories of eating the freshest seafood out of the trawler kitchen that my grandparents would prepare while shrimping. At Capt. Benny's the food is fresh, especially the oysters, Seafood cooked on or off the bone in tasty fashion. And always get a cup of gumbo with your meal. When your hungry for a seafood meal you can't go wrong with fresh oysters, cup of gumbo and whole cooked flounder or platter. Either broiled or fried.“
