My decision to eat at this establishment was one made due to (usually) good food, good service and a refreshing atmosphere. Granted the wait is usually the same around the time I went. The Food: Shrimp and Grits, I asked for no fried onions. They decided that I needed no ham and extra gravy as well. When I spoke to the manager regarding my meal after a 30min wait. She informed me that they would at more grits to my meal and they would not take the food off of the check. The shrimps where not seared and when I pointed that out I was met with an elaborate definition of searing and informed yet again that this was there way. So I payed my $64 dollar check for 2 plates of shrimp and water and asked to leave. So what they being said I will not be returning and I hope that you guys find this helpful.

Stopped in for a quick lunch. I asked if the veggie burger on the menu was a house made patty or an impossible type burger and was told it was house made. It came out either an impossible burger or real meat. I would have ordered the cheese panini had I known - I didn’t have time to send it back. I wouldn’t go back. Disappointed since I took the time to ask.Vegetarian options: There were a few options. Cheese panini and a vegan gumbo but I would avoid the burger.

Was very excited to bring my parents here after coming the first time and loving the food. Unfortunately my mom didnt get to eat. She wanted fried chicken Benedict but they refused to put hollandaise sauce on the side. Its crazy to me how they refused to cater to the customers request. So if she was allergic then she couldnt eat the meal because of a sauce??? Awful experience, not to mention it took an hour to be sat, and all of our drinks were empty... the waitress never refilled. Barely checked on us at all. If your policy is to maintain integrity of dishes, i would expect the quality of service and experience to match a place that hold there food to this value. The mango preserves came in different sized dishes so my dad got more than me. Same with grits bowls. "Integrity of dishes" doesnt seem too true.... but we couldnt get the chicken without the sauce though? I dont get it. I truly hope you take this review into consideration and change this awful policy that doesnt make the guest feel valued at all.

Mango Mangeaux holds a special place in my heart – I’ve celebrated every birthday there for the past 7 years, and it just keeps getting better. The staff is super friendly and always greets me with a smile. The ambience is cozy and welcoming, making every visit remind me why I enjoy the bistro so much.Birthdays, baby showers, promotions, weddings…Mango Mangeaux has been part of all of those things for me. ?But it’s not just about the familiarity – the food is consistently delicious. From their signature dishes to the delightful drinks, every bite is a reminder of why I keep coming back. It’s like Cheers, where everyone knows your name, and that’s what makes Mango Mangeaux truly special. They are true gem in our community and every time I have someone visit from out of town, I take them there. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, every meal is a hit. Mango Mangeaux is more than just a bistro. It’s a family and I’m grateful to be a part of it ?

I came in Sunday the 14th (for my anniversary) we are Black. We walked through the back door a Black waitress greeted us and said go to the front. So we went to the front (after awhile the same NICE Black waistress said it will only be a few minutes) and it took about 5 minutes for the white female hostess with brown hair to come to the front. Looked us in the face without saying Hi and said How May I Help You Today? As if we werent in a restaurant to eat food. Bad training. Sat a white couple immediately before us but told us it would be an hour wait for 2 people. We left of course. Drove all the way from Virginia Beach literally near the beach to eat there.Lastly when we walked in there was a table stacked with dishes that could have sat the 6 people waiting outside (Black people) but instead of being bussed it was just for dirty dishes. The Black waitress needs to be the hostess clearly. She was talking to us while waiting tables. She had glasses short curly hair like a box style.

My wife and I came here after church on Sunday and we both got the chicken and waffles. The service was excellent. The wait was short. But the chicken was a little overcooked and a little burnt around the edges. My wife and I haven’t been here since before Covid but last time we got two pieces of chicken breast. But now it is just one piece of chicken breast cut in half. For the price that you are paying which is $22 you should get two chicken breast. That was 4 or 5 years ago.

I have never been so utterly disrespected by African American people in my life as an African American consumer. I am a Sr. Pastor of a local church in Virginia Beach but I don’t live on that side of the water. I decided to get through the tunnel traffic ASAP on today and decided to eat at Mango’s. The hostess checked us in and said we can choose “first available” and a seat at the bar would be available in 30 minutes and a table in 45 minutes. So we said first available. 10 minutes later she sat a white male at the bar with NO WAIT IN OUR FACE! My wife and I asked the white male if he had a reservation. He said no, he sat at the bar because he didn’t want wait for a table! We were livid! I will never go back to this restaurant! And I would suggest that if you are a person of color that you stay away! They disrespect their own so they don’t deserve our hard earned money!

The food is great, I mean I can tell the first Chef that was there is gone he was a beast!, the ambiance, and everything is great and I always get good service! The only thing I don't care for when it come to them is the fact that if you have an allergy or if something come in the food that you don't eat the Chef won't change it, and baby you can't add anything to your food. For example if you like eggs with onions or tomatoes the chef is not doing it. But overall it's alright. I don't patronize them much anymore because why can't you make the adjustments for allergies. Shrimp and grits are good, but don't expect the same energy for the fish and grits.

To be utterly disrespected by people that you are trying to support. We arrived at the restaurant around 2:05. The restaurant was full and they said it would be approximately 30 mins at the bar and 45 mins for a table. We sit down beside the hostess station to wait. Approximately 10-15 mins later after two sets people get up at the bar another couple (a white male and a black female) walk in. The hostess says there will be a wait for a table but I can seat you at the bar. She proceeds to sit them at the bar along the wall. Then another group of two comes in and then she sits them at the bar. I ask is there a reason you keep seating other parties. She states that they were on the waiting list for over 1.5 hours. I say ok. I verify with the 2nd group. They confirmed. Several tables empty and we still remain unseated. Finally over an hour later we are sat. The mixed couple is now finished eating and I ask how long were you on the waiting list. They say oh less than 10 mins, they said we didn't have to wait because we were willing to sit at the bar. My assumption confirmed, I was too mad to eat and I promptly left. I live in RVA and my husband pastors in Virginia Beach. I will be telling everyone I know to avoid this restaurant.

The food was just okay. The mango preserve was delicious though. My husband had the fish and grits. He said the grits were pretty good but the fish lacked flavor. I had the french toast and it was just ok but the handmade turkey sausage was tasty. We may pay them one more visit but are not in a hurry to go back.

Everything is always top tier when I eat here. I came for brunch with friends, and the atmosphere was fabulous. The food came out fairly quickly as well. I had the brunch burger, and it was delicious. They've cracked the code to an A1 dining experience. Happy to support this business.

The food is very delicious. I have been here for brunch and lunch. Lunch has larger portion sizes, but both meals were delightful. I ordered the French dip for lunch, and for brunch, I had the French toast.
