This is my 5th time eating at Gyu Shige as my last two times were in the Rockville location. It was a busy night but my server was quick and responsive by bringing our requested meat dishes, and explaining their personal favorites for drinks and appetizers. Restaurant setting, in my opinion, has been the same, with conversations left and right --truly withholding the essence of Japanese bbq which is enjoying the fine meats cooked for you but also chatting with friends and family. For anyone who seems to be stuck on the price. You just have to understand that "you get what you pay for" meaning every dime you spend on this meal, the experience and food are definitely worth while. “Ok, so I love barbecue. I mean, I really LOVE barbecue, and Mission BBQ is definitely the answer to my craving! I recommend the brisket, Mac n cheese, and corn bread, but the ribs...LAWD THE RIBS are out of this world. The first time I went, I got the 5 bones and the second time the full 10 bone. The meat slides off, is perfectly smoked, and goes perfectly with the Mac n cheese. The service is amazing, the atmosphere friendly, and the flavors will have you coming back for more!“

Old Blue has the best BBQ food in the greater DC area - so, that would be enough to recommend them - however, if you are planning an event, you will not believe the quality of the service they offer. Everyone was helpful, had great suggestions, they even shared decorations with us. The day of the wedding was also perfect - they were attentive and seemed to anticipate every need. “This is THE GOAT KBBQ spot in the DMV. Everything is good and high quality. If you're not looking for AYCE, this is my go to spot, for sure. Would like a little more selection of side dishes, but that's me being picky. Combos are def enough for 2-5 people. Pro-tip - They don't really take reservations here and the wait is usually very long. If you don't want to wait and can't make it to Fairfax at 5, try going on Sunday at 12 when they open. usually no line. They do accommodate groups, but I've found it's best for groups of 4 or less.“

“I feel that barbecue is subjective and kind of depends on your personal preference if you like it or not. My idea of good BBQ may not be yours. That being said... I LOVED this place. My brothers and I were in the area and one has been craving BBQ something fierce. Walking in, the place smells like heaven. We probably ordered way more than we should have because if we weren't hungry before, we definitely were when we smelled how good it smells here. We all ordered the pulled chicken sandwich, soda, cornbread and we each ordered different sides: baked beans and corn pudding, yucca fries and fried okra, and onion rings and macaroni and cheese. We also had a side of coleslaw to share since BBQ sandwich + coleslaw = perfection. You order at the counter, stop to gawk at the biggest selection of hot sauces I have ever seen for sale, grab your plastic ware and fountain soda, debate if you want pickled jalapeños, pickled onions, hot pickles, (hot pickles were AWESOME!!!!!) and then have a seat. They brought us the food pretty quickly and we dug in. We found their original BBQ sauce, found on the counter in a giant cauldron thing, a little too sweet and tomato-y for our likings (although I did enjoy digging the sweet marinated onions out of my cup of sauce, because those were great with the pickled onions and hot pickles), but they had a smoky and sweet one on the tables that we really liked. The onion rings were so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and tasted amazing. I dipped one in his macaroni cheese and that tasted pretty darn good too. The fried okra is a huge portion and is also perfectly fried. The yucca fries were also wonderfully crisp on the outside and soft on the inside and not at all greasy. The baked beans are a little savory and a lot sweet. The corn pudding is very soft and fluffy and tastes like a hush puppy without the hard exterior. The coleslaw is delicious. They add super crisp peas and carrots to the normal cabbage. More places should get on this because it adds sweetness and texture and it is fantastic!!!!! The cornbread is amazing! I have no idea how they make it so fluffy and moist but WOW. I may carry honey in my handbag in case there is ever cornbread and I have never been so happy about my weird tendencies because YES!!!!!!! The pulled chicken was juicy and tender and smoky and so good. The buns they use are perfect for standing up to the saucy goodness. We really wanted to try some of their pies and banana pudding, but we couldn't eat another bite by the time we left. The portions were very generous, you couldn't even close the bun around all of the chicken without it jumping ship. You definitely need a fork to scoop up all your fallen chicken, which is also how I like my BBQ... I really wish we lived closer to this place because it was delicious and I would probably feign being too tired to cook dinner at least once a week so we could come here.“

“We are from Buffalo NY down here on vacation. The host was absolutely amazing we sat at a high top by the bar and he came over and offered to move us to a bigger table so we had more room!! The bartender was our server and he was so attentive and on top of everything. They had a large school party that had about 50 people in it and they did not let that slow them down at all. At the end of that party we ended up speaking with one of the owners and he was so nice! We ended up finding out the host had family from where we are from and that was awesome! The food was amazing, portions were huge! Moral of the story the whole staff was amazing the food came out with perfect timing even with the huge party. The halo halo smoothie is the best halo halo I've ever had. It was a perfect combination. It's like a taro smoothie with all the goodies of halo halo. “I went with my sister, who is vegetarian. We both loved the food. Service was great. We got the vegetarian pancake to share, she got soondobu jjigae and I got the seolleongtang. I've been looking for a restaurant with good seolleongtang and this place fits the bill. The soondobu was adequately spicy and delicious. One thing to note is the egg is $1.50 extra. The vegetarian pancake was crisp, not too oily, and along with the sauce it was delicious.Highly recommend this place. It's reasonably priced (paid maybe $35 for the meal) and the food was amazing. Kalbi came out too frozen but tasted good.Overall to my surprise I actually like the food here. Tried 4 food items. Yangnyum kalbi everytime my fav! Thick pork belly. Kimchi jigae. Maewoontang.Seats are a bit uncomfortable, sits a bit away from the table...The parking area looks small from the road/front side but if you go around back there's plenty parking.I thought it was on the pricey side but comparing it to other bbqs in that area it was comparable.“

I thought the wait would be long since it was a Friday night, but I only had to wait about 5 minutes and since I could eat unlimited food, I was able to fill up after just one refill. This was actually our 2nd time dining here as we had a very nice dinner there awhile back and thought we'd return. They had a special Mother's Day menu that included prime rib, and I really dig the unlimited small plate concept. Everybody got to order what they wanted, and everyone got to share a bite or two. The mimosa kit was very fun and at the end they gave my wife a special cookie treat to take home. The food was excellent, but our server was even better. His name was Nelson, and he was awesome. I mean, he never missed a beat and when we were done with the first round of dishes he was immediately there to see if we wanted more. He made some great suggestions and was a total pro. “This restaurant introduced hot pot earlier this year. Current lunch special is AYCE hot pot and skewers for $35. The meats are quality and you have over 5 skewers to choose from. Some speciality items include snow crab legs, scallops and hot chili wontons. These items are usually add ons at other restaurants and sometimes cost a lot more. My friends got the Tom Yum and I got the pork broths. Broths were rich in flavor and we ordered multiple rounds of the skewers.I love the high ceilings and how the dining tables are set up. You get a grilling station in the middle that is constantly moving. Each diner gets their own hot pot and the seats were really comfy. The sauce stations are covered and there are plenty of instructions on how to make your favorite sauces. Save room for the vanilla ice cream as well. Service here was on point. I feel like we had +3 servers at all times. You order on your phone and food comes out really quickly. You can't go any where in the area to get quality meats and hot pot at value. Fun place to try different types of seafood, meats and vegetables.“

“Seated quickly at 5:30 pm on a Wednesday. Menus brought and ice water. We ordered and they brought warm fresh pita bread and Israeli salads to share. I ordered a rib eye medium done and it came out well done. Had to return it and when the new one came out it was rare. No happy medium. Green beans were delicious. Wife ordered Jerusalem mix with rice which was good. Service was slow, took a long time to get refills on water and more salads! Asked for a to go box and waitress never brought it, I went to the kitchen to ask for one. Food is good but slow service!“
