“a really cute vegan bakeshop in carytown! my friend and I went and we both got the banana pudding and I got a rice krispie treat. the rice krispie treat tasted just like the real thing and the banana pudding was great too. they also have a lot of fun stickers on display you can purchase as well. definitely recommend taking your vegan friends here!“

“SO many great flavors to choose from; roasted strawberry will spoil you on regular strawberry ice cream forever! The cannoli ice cream(with mini cannoli shell) was excellent. My daughter always gets a sweet little macaron on top of whatever she chooses. It’s such a great spot to grab a great scoop (or two!) of ice cream.“

“My waitress/bartender was exceptionally kind and caring. She checked on me every time she would walk by. Not once did she walk pass without acknowledging my presence or asking if I was ok or needed anything. The male greeter was also extremely kind and caring and even came to back near the bar to inquire about any needs i may have l, even engaged in some meaningful small talk. Another male waiter was very pleasant and answered questions that i had regarding the drink menu. Over all a great experience, great food and awesome hospitality. “I was in Richmond this week for work and wanted to find a local Meditteranean spot to grab something to eat. I luckily stumbled upon this place through google and I couldn’t be happier I did! If I were a local, I’d be here all of the time. Seriously! Absolutely delicious, fresh food! I got the lamb schwarma wrap with tabbouli and highly recommend.On top of that, I also wanted to say the customer service was top notch! I ended up eating my food in the place and talking to the owner for almost an hour. He was wonderful and I loved hearing his story! “Packed on a Wednesday night, but at 6:30pm, we were able to get a decent table for 5. Portions are huge food was hot. Coffee with dessert was cold, and it got sent back. The housemate chips are thicker than most but deliciously seasoned and very crispy. Just the way I like them. The calamari was cooked to perfection and not rubbery. I liked the fried peppers that accompanied the calamari. Had to get extra marinara because the bowl was full to overflowing. When I say the portions are huge... I ordered the chicky chicky parm parm and I still have more to eat. I've been having sides of spaghetti for the last 2 days. Go and try it out. You won't be disappointed. The drinks were on point.“

Our friend with Celiac could choose from almost the entire menu which is unheard of, especially at an Italian restaurant. “Our go-to for desserts, and they just happen to be vegan! Flavorful, beautifully prepared, unique items you can't find elsewhere. The savory options are amazing too, they are magicians with seitan. Don't miss their seasonal offerings for holidays! Most recently we had a delicious box of items for high tea from their Mothers' Day menu and everything was perfect and fresh. We are really lucky to have Sunflower Gardenz in our city, a hidden gem for sure“

“Met a friend for dinner on a Tuesday night and so enjoyed our evening at Frank's!! The restaurant was very clean, which is just important to me. It's small and intimate, so we could talk and hear each other. It wasn't busy at all, with just a couple other tables and some pick up orders dropping in. Our server Christine was fabulous! She responded well when we told her we were going to be slow and were visiting while eating dinner. She checked in on us the right amount of times, offered suggestions (which were spot on) and kept our drinks full. She made us smile several times and I hope to see her again! The food was delicious. We started with the eggplant appetizer (recommended by Christine) and it was so good! Crispy on the outside and fresh on the inside with the right amount of sauce. The dinner salads were the right size and their house dressing (a balsamic vinaigrette) was divine. I wish I knew how to make that at home. Maybe I will ask next time! For dinner I wanted something lighter and no tomato sauce so opted for the Chicken d'oro (another suggestion when I asked about this or the piccata) and it was spot on. The right amount of lemon butter sauce over some super thin, breaded and sautéed chicken breasts. I ate them all!!! My friend thoroughly enjoyed the chicken parm and we both got spaghetti with our orders. For dessert I went with the tiramisu. It was different from what I normally get in that the lady fingers weren't totally covered in mascarpone, and I enjoyed this too!! I really look forward to returning and trying something else....hopefully to get Christine as our server again!“

“Dinner with a friend at The Savory Grain. Early reservations for two and were seated immediately. It had been a long time since I had been out so we really wanted to talk over drinks before ordering so I checked with our waitress that this was ok. We did not want to tie up her table if a turnover was needed. She encouraged us to relax and go at our own pace and asked us to let her know when we were ready to order since she did not want to keep interrupting us. A couple of happy hour beers in we ordered the fried green tomatoes appetizer, shrimp and grits entree, and the meatloaf entree. The beer was nice and cold, the food was absolutely amazing. The appetizer arrived long enough before the entree for us to enjoy it. The entrees were generous enough that we both brought home leftovers and mine became my husband’s dinner. I could not have asked for a nicer evening out.“

Last time I tried their cake doughnuts because I don't think anyone can make regular doughnuts as good as those I had growing up in California but yesterday I gave it a shot & got a regular maple glazed doughnut and YES they are the best on the east coast! It's hard to find a light & fluffy doughnut but this is it! I wish I lived closer because I'd be here every week for a veggie burger and maple doughnut!“

Every couple months we make a food run from the Washington area to Richmond and we buy boxed lunches to last for two days, plus an extra pound of potato salad. “Regrettably, my review is a tad overdue since my visit to Mom's Siam coincided with my attendance at a conference. Nestled just a stone's throw away from The Berkley, this gem of a restaurant lies along a charming cobblestone path. Like many establishments in the area, Mom's Siam is tucked away in an old building, easily missed if you don't pay attention. Stepping inside, I was greeted by ample seating, a well-stocked bar, and a chic speakeasy vibe that felt refreshingly modern. Opting for my usual favorites, I indulged in a serving of pad Thai, accompanied by some sushi and an Old Fashioned. The cocktail, though delicious, sported a hue a touch redder than I anticipated, though it certainly didn't detract from its flavor. As for the sushi, it was a delightful treat, although be warned, it's strictly à la carte. But the star of the show was the generous portion of pad Thai, which left me thoroughly satisfied. Given its proximity to the hotel and the overall sense of security I felt in the area, I wouldn't hesitate to revisit Mom's Siam during future business trips. After all, convenience paired with quality is a winning combination in my book!“

“We visited the Staples Mill location for the first time yesterday. The staff was friendly and helpful, telling us about their business and offering free samples. We got a variety of bread, baked goods and sweet treats and so far everything is top notch. The baguettes are amazing - we just had some in France and these are just as good! Amazingly, we found the prices to be very reasonable. We will definitely return.“

“We went to Texas De Brazil for dinner. 6pm. We were greeted promptly and were seated within 2 minutes. We ordered a bottle of the featured wine from Brazil, a very nice blend. It paired very well with our dinner. Meats were served piping hot and when I told the gaucho I like rare, he quickly returned with picanha and flank steak cooked perfectly for me!!! Outstanding service. We also ordered cheesecake for dessert and it was a generous portion. The manager stopped by to check on us and took the time to talk with us about our experience. “So I think I found my NEW favorite cookies spot. Cookies were still warm to the touch on delivery. Cookies were huge and the oatmeal raisin cookie is to die for! We also tried the chocolate chip, red eye cookie and the cookies and cream. All flavors were spectacular!! I used to love insomnia cookie but lately they’ve been lacking in quality but as long as these red eye cookies stay the same. I will be a customer FOREVER!!
