“Doesn't get any more authentic than this!!! Nothing like actual fresh cooking from grandma's kitchen in China. Don't come here expecting Panda Express flavors if you're not use to REAL Chinese food. We tried a ton on the menu & everything was mouth watering. Great, friendly staff & nice music. Such a cute & neat date spot. You have to check it out especially if you're tired of fast food.“

“We had dinner before a theater event at Sandler. Restaurant was close to the facility with parking as well(warning: 2nd level has a 2 hour limit so go at least to the 3rd level). I had the orange chicken which could have used more orange flavor. My date and the Crispy Honey Shrimp and enjoyed it. Fried rice was good. Service was quick given the crowd in the restaurant. Server was cordial as well.“

“We ended up here on a Thursday afternoon by chance. We actually needed to stop by Sam's Club which is right next door but we were so hungry we knew we wouldn't make good choices shopping on an empty stomach so we decided to eat lunch first and of the few restaurants in the same shopping complex, we ended up here at Forbidden Palace. Upon entering we were greeted by a human (lol) & then asked to follow 'Wally' the robot as he led us to our table. The place is a lot more spacious than it looks from the outside which was a nice surprise and the decor was anything but Chinese or 'palace' looking. The walls were painted a with a space themed mural which I actually thought was pretty cool! They had ample seating with booths and tables and a large bar. In the middle of the restaurant. They also had tvs which were on. A couple looked like they were on ESPN and at least one was on some kind of news channel. The music that was playing sounded like it was on 80s flashback. Again, I liked it but that's just my preference :) Now on to service and food. Our server Jim was great! He came by and introduced himself and really made us feel welcome. What I mean was that you could tell he enjoyed talking to people and even more importantly, he loved his job! The menu was slightly overwhelming as it had so many dishes to choose from. From apps to entrees there was something for everyone that I believe that even the most finicky eaters wouldn't be disappointed. It went from dim sum to sushi if that tells you anything. For apps, we ordered cilantro dumplings, siu mai and lettuce wraps & for our entree, we ordered the Peking duck with bao buns. Cilantro dumplings were tasty and light but only with a hint of cilantro. We were expecting just a little more cilantro flavor. Siu Mai was tasty especially dipped in the sauce that was provided. They were larger than we expected (at least 2 bites). But they were just a little dense for my liking - still tasty nonetheless. Lettuce wraps were excellent!! Very tasty with a good ratio of meat to chopped veggies. The sauce it was cooked in was not greasy at all. The lettuce leaves were also perfect (I point this out because some places don't pay attention to this little detail so I always appreciate fresh, clean, intact lettuce leaves). Peking duck with bao buns were amazing!!! We've never had duck with anything but rice or noodles so when the dish came out with a plate of bao buns we were slightly confused but Jim was more than happy to explain how to assemble and eat the bun :) I would definitely recommend checking this place out at least once if you've never been. Five stars for food and definitely for service because I don't believe 'personal preference' (about the siu mai) should factor into it. We'll be back!!“

“VaChinatown is our go to place for Chinese food. Not only is it fast, good and inexpensive but we are lucky enough that we are close. We've been visiting VaChinatown for a long time and have tried many menu items. Currently, our favorites are the lo mein, general tso, egg foo young, sesame chicken and, my "crack", fried pork dumpling. But, we mix it up and are rarely disappointed. The Chinese food staples of egg rolls and fried rice keep my husband coming back for more. He LOVES them. The egg foo young and pork lo mein are some of the best that I have had anywhere. This place knocks the socks off PF Changs and other more expensive places. Though the prices, like everywhere, have gone up- it is still a great value. They give you enough food to have it for dinner and then for lunch the next day. I don't like spicy food, so I'm happy that they give you a choice as to heat. My husband loves the general tso and chooses mild heat. We've been in there often enough that they know what we like. If we order something out of the ordinary, they notice. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We've eaten at other Chinese restaurants and quite honestly we usually miss our neighborhood place. It compares favorably to much higher priced places.“

“Pork egg roll is bland. The lo mein is the most flavorful I’ve tried in the area. The sweet and sour chicken doesn’t have that much breading and is decent. I would definitely say this place is up there for the area. Most places are just terrible, bland, and greasy“

“Typical strip shopping center Chinese takeout place, but there are a few tables there (with no table service). This is a relatively low-rent area, not unsafe, not far from upscale. Workers are behind glass. Seems to be a two-person operation. Place seems reasonably clean. As expected, communication is a bit of a challenge, but we were able to put our order in with no great difficulty, and they got it correct. No complaints about the food or the price. I would not go out of my way to try this place, but if you're here and want Chinese, I think it's well within the acceptable range. We'll probably be back.Parking: Way more parking than needed.“

“I have eaten there numerous times. The food is always fresh, the service is friendly and helpful and the establishment is always clean and neat. It is much more than your typical take-out restaurant. I always eat in the restaurant. I am served with plates and utensils just as if I were in a standard restaurant. The owners could not be any nicer. The prices are most reasonable and the portions are plenty. I would highly recommend this restaurant.“

“This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Hampton Roads. The service is excellent. The food is delicious. While it may not offer the choices of the most exotic or varied restaurants found in NYC or Montreal, it has a wide offering; all of which is prepared well. The restaurant is nicely appointed and clean with the detraction of being located in a shopping center, but this is de rigour for Hampton Roads.“

“Service - fast and courteous. They had very busy traffic in and out and lots of phone calls for orders. So my first impression was - wow, what a busy restaurant. The food should be very good. I ordered their all day special which I chose shrimp roll and 2 chicken wings to go with the shrimp egg foo young. It was very good! For the price I thought it was worth it. I loved that I did not have to get rice with it. I'm not a rice fan so that made me happy. The wings were a good size and cooked to perfection. I ordered hot and sour soup and wonton soup - both large. There were a lot of wontons in the soup which made the soup very filling! We are interested in trying other dishes. My order was complete with napkins, utensils and sauce in a short period of time. Thank you for being open on a Monday!!!“

“I stumbled upon this gem on DoorDash recently, and let me spill the beans - it's a culinary hidden treasure in VB. Living just a hop, skip, and a jump away, my orders are lightning-fast, clocking in at a mere 20 minutes. Such promptness coupled with top-tier taste makes for an unbeatable value. Feast your eyes on this gastronomic masterpiece that graced my doorstep. The visuals alone are drool-worthy. And hold your horses, I haven't even showcased the boneless spareribs yet! These little bites of heaven are my absolute go-to when it comes to takeout, and trust me, they're the crème de la crème. Indulge your taste buds and do yourself a solid - give this place a whirl. In my humble opinion, it's the ultimate takeout spot of 2023.“

I highly recommend the chicken lo mein and general tso chicken combinations.“
“First time in Virginia Beach, this Chinese restaurant look new! The food are fresh the onions and broccoli are fresh, freen, and crunchy!! 9/10 for food. The location is in a shopping center and a lot of parking. 9/10. Overall it’s 4.5/5 star.“

“I love China Sea. Haven't really ordered anywhere else since I've tried a couple different items they serve. Everything is well seasoned and tastes good. The service is good and the owner pretty much knows my family...that's how often we come! The owner asks about the family every time we come in. They have a small eating area like most Chinese restaurants but it's always clean when we come in. Haven't had anything bad since I've been coming here...for about a year or two now!“
“I love their food ! I have gotten the chicken wings and fried rice, donuts, spare ribs, wonton soup, dumplings, chicken and vegetables, human chicken. “I have no idea why only 3.8 stars. I work out and eat lots of good food. This place has the best tasting food and quality. The people are realy cool too. The egg rolls are about twice the size of regular chineese places and the quantity is way more. Their lunch special ends at 4pm and everyone else ends at 3pm. The rice is cooked perfect every time and chewy, not mushy. Thanks guys! My favorite place!“

The service was great as a whole. We will all definitely come back again.“

“Oooh this was some good takeout!! Ordered it on Uber Eats and didn't get a photo as we were starving. The prices were competitive, but the portions were huge!! We got the general tsos chicken and sesame chicken. Both were delicious and still super hot after delivery. The egg rolls were the best I've ever had as well! “If you're in the Indian River area & have taste for Chinese, definitely go to Han Xing. I've tried other places in the area, but consistently find my way back to Han Xing. I ordered a beef & broccoli combo with pork fried rice and a spring roll. Also, a general tso chicken combo with shrimp lo mein and egg roll. My order was done in 10 minutes and the portions are big. I love that the food is cooked with a lot of sauce. Something to consider is that the combos automatically come with fried rice but can be substituted. I don't like the fact that the shrimp lo mein is a up charge. Also, if you order takeout, I've noticed that they don't add plastic utensils in the bag ever unless you ask. I find that odd as they'll add napkins and sauce. This could be bad if you go somewhere to eat and find out they didn't give you utensils.“

“First time here! My usual place is closed on tuesdays so I decided to try this place! I would NEVER look inside and stop here based on looks alone. I also waited over 45 minute after the given wait time sitting in there which made it worse sitting there looking around?. THE FOOD WAS WORTH IT. Oh my gosh. Every single item was still piping hot when I got home, the flavor was ACTUALLY THERE AND WAS AMAZING, the portion sizes were huge, and it was so fresh. Best crab Rangoon I’ve had in Virginia Beach.“

“I've seen reviews that were not positive about this place and I'm not sure what happened with that because everything we've ever ordered for the last 6 years has been perfect.I don't think they've ever messed up an order once. Not even a little.Maybe the disappointed people in the reviews are ordering things that they make in large amounts for a lunch rush? Unclear.I can say what I have done, because I learned this trick with fast food restaurants back in the '90s, as I worked in one through much of the '80s.I never order food strictly off menu and try to avoid peak hours, because during rushes most places tend to make commonly preferred things ahead of time and leave them under heat lights. (Ever gotten warm fries that are limp and rubbery? They were made 10+ minutes before you arrived and have been sitting under a heat lamp!) It doesn't cost a company much and it's very time efficient to get people in and out so they don't complain about the time it took to get their meal.To avoid that, I will customize what I want by taking what is normally available and then telling them to hold something because they can't just scrape or pick it out of the food, so they have to make it fresh.I always end up paying a little bit more for whatever I order because it's a specialty order but that whole extra dollar or ten means that my food is amazing every time. Sit down places I tip 20% or more/take out 10% or more to show my appreciation because I know a rush has been thrown off by MY request of a special order. If you've ever had problems ordering here (or anywhere during a breakfast / lunch / dinner rush) I highly recommend ordering what you want and tell them to leave out a specific item-and yes, you likely won't get the lower price of a lunch order that was made in bulk for efficiency, but you will get a perfectly made fresh meal. There's usually a reason that places with daily lunch specials are cheaper. They make it in bulk and keep it warm to get people in and out quickly! As to whether or not Rainbow Garden actually makes things in advance like fast food places during peak hours, I am not sure. But I do know EVERYTHING they've made for us for 6 years now has always been perfectly made and freaking delicious.Vegetarian options: They do have quite a few vegetarian options although if you want a protein you are limited to tofu or egg. Egg drop soup has chicken stock so know that before you order! There are vegan options as well. Our personal favorite is broccoli with garlic sauce and have them add tofu (bean curd).Kid-friendliness: There is a sit down area inside, but there is nowhere to play at all, and I can't recall if I've seen high chairs in this particular place. For take out, everyone is good, especially the donuts! They are basically oversized donut holes so you can cut them into smaller pieces for smaller children. SCRUMPTIOUS.Parking: Wheelchair accessible spots are limited and this is a strip mall so there's only a handful of spots right in front of Rainbow Garden but you can park anywhere and walk over quite easily.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes the place is wheelchair accessible although the handicap spots fill up quickly during peak hours.Dietary restrictions: There are vegetarian options, there are vegan options, there are low-fat options (steamed instead of fried), there are sodium options.Best of all, they do not use MSG!I have an absolutely crippling reaction to MSG. It's like instantaneous rheumatoid arthritis that lasts for DAYS. My hands and even my spine just curl up and I cannot straighten myself out for days after eating MSG so I can promise you it is not in there. There is no mistaking it when I eat it!“

“Most places to eat, especially if they're kinda small, don't have room to have you eat in the restaurant. Small place. I had the shrimp and broccoli. Broccoli was good, not too overcooked. Friend had the beef something, I don't even know what it was. Every person has 'their own' chinese place to eat. This wasn't mine. I like Kin's wok in Norfolk, 21st st!“
