“Was traveling and stopped in New Kent and did a search for best rated restaurants. Although a bit of a drive from where we were, absolutely worth it. My wife and I ate and had drinks at the bar. Excellent service, especially for bar seating for a meal. Bartender was friendly and talented at his craft. Food was among the very best restaurants I have eaten at across the country.“

“I ended up here because a place down the street was closed, boy did I luck into a great restaurant. The atmosphere is very casual and the overall noise level made it possible to have a conversation without raising your voice in the bar area. The food was prepared well and the Gouda grit cake was an unexpected treat.Would definitely go back when I'm in the area!“

“This is a busy spot. We had great food and fabulous service. Wish we had gotten the young lady's name because she was truly awesome. We had to add a guest at the last minute and the host was not as accommodating as I might have hoped. The restaurant wasn't too busy at an early lunchtime so not sure why he had to make an ugly face. The gazpacho and shrimp salad made up for the strange welcome and the freshly baked berry cobbler was an extraordinary way to finish.“

“This is a true fine-dining, cheffy restaurant. The food is outstanding, as is the attentive service. The meal is paced well and the intimate dining room with the open kitchen screams big city class. The mozzarella appetizer is unique and wonderful. The short ribs and scallops are super. And it's hard to find any spot that cooks fish better. If there's a halibut special when you're there, dive in.“

“Salad, Oysters, corn pudding bread, steak, crab cakes, seafood pye- vegetables, bourbon cocktail, beer, coffee, apple pie, chocolate ice cream. The food and drink are so close to being off the charts amazing. The important items- oysters, entrees and vegetables were perfect! Crab cakes could have used a touch more spice for our tastes but are delicious as they are. The cocktail was barely average. The apple pie was more of an apple berry thingie with a very thick crust, some of us liked it and some didn't. The ice cream was very good. The ambiance was great. The live music was fantastic and provided by an excellent musician. ???? The service was okay-ish.“

“The food was wonderful. I ordered the Cheesesteak fries They were good, but I was sorry I didn't get a traditional sandwich. Hubby got the Pizza Steak and I preferred his. The amount of food is phenomenal. We could have split a large sandwich and fries easily BUT hubby managed to eat the 10" all by himself lol. The fries were too much for me. Prices were not ridiculous and the service was friendly. Restaurant was super clean and welcoming.“

“Excellent food and service as always. We have never had a bad meal here, so thought it time to share. The raw oysters and the fried oyster toast were amazing. The Bibb lettuce with pickled asparagus, strawberries and goat cheese salad is 10/10. Their house burger didn't disappoint either. All the cocktails were excellent. Our server Bryan was friendly and did a great job as well, had perfect timing.“

“It was alright, our waitress took our order and brought us our food and we didn't see her until we finished, another waitress passing helped us with SOME of our needs ( refills, syrup, coffee, water, etc...(, my pancakes were huge but heavy and dry, the atmosphere was probably ok, but I went thirsty for most of my meal...“

“Book with anticipation, I booked with almost 3 months and I was close not to get a reservation. I had a great time. I went for my anniversary and they gifted me a nice card and the musician played us a song that George Washington played for his wife. The food was really good. The menu will give you references from the actual recipes. My husband had Tomas Jefferson champagne and it was really good. We had for dessert Egg Clouds and it was delicious! I highly recommended. The service was excellent and you'll go back in time with the restaurant vibes.“

“I'm late on this review. We went around Christmas time. On the way to Busch Gardens for the Christmas lights. Which I will also review. I have to say that this was the most delicious pizza I have ever eaten in my life. My bf happens to know the owner and has worked on his hvac and refrigeration years ago when they were smaller. There were 4 of us in our group. We shared a large pepperoni pizza. Despite the line out the door that night we got our pizza and we were eating within 30 minutes. Want to warn you if you see a table open have a member of the party grab it lol unless you plan to eat outside on the curb or car. Lol. The bathrooms were surprising clean and well stocked despite the amount of traffic coming thru. I have told everyone I know going in that direction that you absolutely will not be disappointed.“

“Even though it was a rainy Sunday, our party of four really enjoyed our brunch. With a view of the vineyard, we lazily dined on the turkey & brie, BLT, shrimp & grits and eggs benedict with Virginia ham which were all outstanding. We also enjoyed the extended wine tour after the brunch, well worth the time and expense.“

“The donuts are made to order. My friend Sam says they're a beach favorite, but this location isn't always as packed. Fresh cake donuts, if you have a sweet tooth, you will love the icing combinations, (the flavors are incredible) but if you don't like a very sweet treat, skip the ones fully coated with icing. The real treat is the texture of a fresh cake donut, anyhow. Crisp outside, light cake interior. ?“

“While visiting Williamsburg, Va, my husband and I initially tried going to the Colonial Pancake House. We saw a lot of people waiting outside, so we decided to go to Capitol Pancake House for breakfast. Was easy to find a parking spot close to the entrance. Immediately upon entering we were greeted by a friendly gentleman. We were also immediately sat. I ordered the catfish breakfast and my husband ordered a Grecian omelet with a side of peanut butter pancakes. The portions are big, enough to skip lunch. I have to say the catfish was cooked perfectly, probably the best tasting catfish I ever had. It was very crispy on the outside and soft inside. It was seasoned perfectly just the way I like it. I didn’t have any need to add any tartar or hot sauce. My husband said his meal was delicious. The server we had was friendly and offered additional options. The price is also good for the quality food and service. Only complaint was the large orange juice was $6. Will definitely come back again!“

“Your Gold Course Clubhouse restaurant is now our favorite dining venue in Williamsburg! We discovered it in February, and have returned twice since then, driving up from our home from Norfolk. Your facility is beautiful, the food is delicious, and the delightful service puts it “over the top” for us! Our server (Leah) was absolutely wonderful! Please thank your entire staff for us!!! Looking forward to many, many more terrific meals in your gorgeous restaurant! With gratitude, Terri and Marc Kirchner“

“Went to celebrate a birthday. Definitely upscale dining in more than in name only. Impeccable service. Calm, polite, and in control. Never rushed us even when we had not finished our drinks in the bar or took a few pictures outside. Not your usual fare. I had a stuffed trout, my date had salmon. Done and presented well. Good wine selection. A perfect romantic evening. Slow down, relax, get dressed up, enjoy a delicious meal prepared and served by a staff that cares in a beautiful setting.“

“A gem in Williamsburg! Great breakfast spot with a nice variety, ample parking, very friendly staff and reasonable prices. Lots of regulars and they are welcomed warmly. We had the garden omelet, breakfast burrito, oatmeal and corned beef hash. All were piping hot and delicious. The oatmeal came with ample " fixings" which was great. The booths and tables are very diner-like but perfect. We want to return to try other options.“

“Rocco's has fantastic brisket for which they are best known, but what's really fantastic is the hometown attitude and caring of the staff - especially when you consider you are in one of the busiest tourist towns, that also happens to be a prestigious college town, @William & Mary. Rocco's gets busy by the bus load, literally! But the entire crew are patient and jovial for your entire dining experience“

“Great dinner at Blue Talon. Our meal was delicious - a number of starters which was perfect after our long day. Service was fine. They did everything right. Just not the hospitality that makes you feel like a welcomed guest. Definitely order the clam chowder, truffle fries, beef tartare, and cake dessert. Skip the oysters, they didn't have much flavor, though the relish/salad they were served with were quite good. Had a nice cocktail and a lovely bubbly rose.“

“Food and service were both top notch. JJ was our server and he made us feel like we were his only customers. He was friendly, quick, thoughtful, and knowledgeable of the menu. He was able to make great recommendations when we were unsure of what to order. The food was absolutely delicious! We had the special barbacoa bowl, lemon ricotta pancakes, breakfast tacos, Belgian waffle, specialty drinks, and eggs and bacon. Everything was made to perfection. Before we left we were already making plans to go back again!“
“The sandwich spread is delicious. The sourdough bread has that perfect sourness. Every little product is a cut above in quality. The sandwiches look deceptively simple on the board, but prove that when you use the highest quality ingredients, you don't need to overcomplicate things.“

“The food taste really good. My son order chicken and waffles and the chicken was ACTUAL fresh cooked, not frozen. The prices were very reasonable and serving sizes were great. Great family friendly environment!...and the coffee wasn't watered down like most pancake places in the area.“

“Excellent meal with my daughter & her 6 friends. We were offered the wine room for seating which was intimate & cozy with the fireplace. From seafood to steaks, everything was delicious. Desserts were shared as the overall portions were generous. Good wine selection. About 10-15min drive from W&M. Easy parking.“
“Absolutely lovely venue, stately and classy. The food was all excellent, service was very personal. Waiter addressed us by name. Only criticism was the amount of spirits in the martinis were so small that we needed to order a double which ended up costing about $40 per martini. Also, when you make a reservation, there is no information that the menu for outdoors is more pub like and different from the menu inside. Namely, you can't have regular meal outdoors, which was disappointing.“

“We almost didn’t go in once we saw Jolene’s was inside a motel but decided to try out because it had great reviews. Oh, my goodness, we had the best burger we’ve ever had at a restaurant! Burger was amazing! Very fresh and had the best flavor! We will make the 30-minute drive again just for the burgers! Staff was great, friendly, attentive! Even the cook came out to ask if the burgers were okay! Better than okay!!“
“Had a fabulous evening celebrating our anniversary. The food is wonderful, starting with an amuse bouche (a sort of mousse-like watermelon gazpacho) and a terrific assortment of breads, each with its own butter. We both had the roasted oysters (a little on the briny side for me but my husband loved them). For the mains ("premier" course) I went all out and had the Wagyu ribeye (an additional charge) and hubby had the beef short ribs. Fantastic! The desserts were out of this world--do not miss Abby's Confections, an assortment of exquisitely crafted small gems of deliciousness. Hubby had the Hazelnut Ice Cream Torte, which was equally over the top. The menu is prix fixe with option of 3 or 5 courses--3 was plenty of food. We opted for the (very good) wine pairings. You can get great meals at a few other spots in Williamsburg, but what really made this evening stand out was the service--starting with the hostess knowing our name before we said it. Our server, Brian, was outstanding--professional, knowledgeable, and just the right level of friendliness. We were well taken care of by the other waitstaff as well. Very pricy but definitely worth the splurge!“

“We make this place a standard stop when visiting Williamsburg. Lots of college students, tourists and Williamsburg residents frequent here. The coffee options and food selections are extensive and the quality is always top notch. Open for breakfast and lunch daily. Dinner is usually available as well but can be seasonal so make sure you check. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Enjoy all the aromas you can take in!“

“Whimsical, charming, offbeat — as if Alice, the White Rabbit, and the Cheshire Cat got together to start up a cafe. Large selection of freshly-baked croissants, quiches, and other pastries complement a broad selection of coffee and bar beverages. Owners and staff are extremely friendly, making everyone feel like a regular. Comfy seating all around; each corner from the sunlit upstairs to the humorous restroom has plenty of character. Come for a relaxing visit.“

“Our server, Jace, was friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and enthusiastic about the food. The burgers were DELICIOUS! Best I've had since moving to Williamsburg. We got the cheese bread appetizer as well (I don't recall the name) and it was good. Loved the texture. I wish there was more flavor in the cheese or seasonings, but the Marinara sauce was flavorful.“

“Chowning's Tavern This family-friendly tavern offers lunch and dinner; of course Colonial Williamsburg is family friendly and we recommend Chowning's Tavern for families. We have taken care to frequent Colonial Williamsburg for decades; Probably the Christmas season is our favorite, and the long hot humid summer is the season we avoid. Any frequent visitor to Greater Williamsburg is in for a culinary treat; we focused our first few years on Colonial Williamsburg dining, and we still recommend the historical taverns. Dining in the 18th Century setting is provided at the following: * Christiana Campbell's Tavern® * Chowning's Tavern® * King's Arms Tavern® * Shields Tavern® Over the years Chowning's Tavern has evolved to "please families" with a fast food backyard grill. Limited menu and service hear. Caveat: avoid the backyard if desiring an authentic Colonial Dining experience. Please read reviews prior to visiting Colonial Williamsburg. We recommend above stairs dining; servers have had some training. Great tavern ambience. Chowning's Tavern may offer the best economy dining experience. In the 1960's we "discovered" Brunswick Stew, and this is still on the menu; moreover, my wife has added this stew to her offerings in her kitchen. Take care in personal review of colonial dining. Chowning's Tavern may or may not be a best bet for romantic dining. The tariff is appropriate for the fare.“

“I've been twice in the last 6-8 months and every time I've been the sandwiches have been excellent, service is very good if not too busy (which they seem to be with many regulars), and they are willing to accommodate special requests (i.e., types of bread, hot/cold option for sandwich, condiments). Since I'm a beer drinker at lunch, I tend to like more options than they but this is not a brewery so....“

“We enjoyed our dinner and our server, Jared, was attentive. The choice of a 70's radio station was a bit odd and even though I like the music, it would have been a more pleasant dining experience if the volume was a little lower.“

“After a long day of driving we decided to stop at the Williamsburg Longhorn Steakhouse for dinner. The atmosphere was very nice and clean, our steaks were delicious, but the best part of our experience was OSCAR, our server. He was so kind, attentive and professional. He kept the glasses filled, and kept checking to see if we needed anything. I noticed he did the same for all of his tables. Even though he was busy he was always pleasant and smiling. He is a true asset to the Longhorn Steakhouse family. Give him a raise!“
“What a wonderful Mother's Day gift from our daughter to her mother, and I had the pleasure of enjoying the gift as well. My Grubbing Buddy received a weekend stay at the Williamsburg Inn. Not since our stay at the Graylyn Estates located in Winston-Salem, NC have we enjoyed such an upscale hotel stay. not only were the accommodations but the check-in staff and the Inn's concierges were both helpful and pleasant. Our room was both comfortable and relaxing. Because I am a heavy coffee drinker, the Nespresso coffee machine was a pleasant sight, and served along with the high-end water bottles, Saratoga Natural Spring Water made my morning coffee even nicer. a plush white cotton robe and slippers for us both made our stay even more pleasant. and I've had chocolates lifted on our pillows after turndown but how about chocolate and liqueur "Disaronno" with two beautiful tiny liqueur glasses, I would tell you how good the chocolate and liqueur were, but they were both gone when I came out the shower. My Grubbing Buddy had no idea where it all went. While everything about the Williamsburg Inn was extra ordinary and high-end I would definitely do it all again. Thanks to our daughter we were both introduced to this delightful Inn in Williamsburg.“

“Saved by an Angel This started out to be a lost cause. After driving and walking around for 35-45 minutes (mostly due to Yelp directions) we were not in a great mood when we found the tavern door. We had just rolled into town and weren't in the mood for a dog chase. Once inside we immediately thought this was not the dining establishment we had thought. Scrambled around for a drink or dinner menu for longer than seemed appropriate, but we were finally welcomed and presented with the evening's offerings. Though tempted to walk out unserved, Angel made her way over to our table, and we got a pretty dandy lager. Soon after that we had our grilled chicken masala, which was very tasty. So our long episode ended up being a rewarding treat.“
“I travel for business a lot and made reservation here. I just got off the road from a 4 hour drive and Iwas very impressed with the look and feel of the whole place. It appeared upscale and very clean. I was happily greeted by Jan at the front desk, who smiled and asked if I ever stayed with at this hotel before. She gave me a quiet suite at the end of the hall and suggested I relax and have dinner at the restaurant there. I did. What a great experience. Andre was bartender, manager, greeter, waiter, etc... He was very attentive and made sure I was satisfied with both the food and service. I really enjoyed this stay and will be back.“
“"Oh my goodness! This place is absolutely wonderful! I booked the venue at Williamsburg Winery for my wedding on March 16th and the entire staff was amazing! Special shout outs to Stacy Jeffers, Neval Wise and Monesha Jenkins. They were so welcoming, kind, professional and overall wonderful people that worked so hard to make the day wonderful. They have an amazing attention to detail to make your experience one of a kind and special. I am looking forward to coming back and visiting very soon!"“
