“Very few places in Williamsburg are as known globally as pierces Pitt. I have been eating BBQ since it was an actual roadside stand. Some things have changed, many have not. Bbq is good and a great representation for BBQ in Va. While I maintain Va BBQ is mostly chicken the best kept secret here are the pork hocks. They are fantastic. Sauce is tangy with a little sweet if you use it, lots of us don't or prefer it on the frys etc. This will eventually be a Virginia historic landmark, and should be. Enjoy a trip into the past at pierces.“

“Rocco's has fantastic brisket for which they are best known, but what's really fantastic is the hometown attitude and caring of the staff - especially when you consider you are in one of the busiest tourist towns, that also happens to be a prestigious college town, @William & Mary. Rocco's gets busy by the bus load, literally! But the entire crew are patient and jovial for your entire dining experience“

“Chowning's Tavern This family-friendly tavern offers lunch and dinner; of course Colonial Williamsburg is family friendly and we recommend Chowning's Tavern for families. We have taken care to frequent Colonial Williamsburg for decades; Probably the Christmas season is our favorite, and the long hot humid summer is the season we avoid. Any frequent visitor to Greater Williamsburg is in for a culinary treat; we focused our first few years on Colonial Williamsburg dining, and we still recommend the historical taverns. Dining in the 18th Century setting is provided at the following: * Christiana Campbell's Tavern® * Chowning's Tavern® * King's Arms Tavern® * Shields Tavern® Over the years Chowning's Tavern has evolved to "please families" with a fast food backyard grill. Limited menu and service hear. Caveat: avoid the backyard if desiring an authentic Colonial Dining experience. Please read reviews prior to visiting Colonial Williamsburg. We recommend above stairs dining; servers have had some training. Great tavern ambience. Chowning's Tavern may offer the best economy dining experience. In the 1960's we "discovered" Brunswick Stew, and this is still on the menu; moreover, my wife has added this stew to her offerings in her kitchen. Take care in personal review of colonial dining. Chowning's Tavern may or may not be a best bet for romantic dining. The tariff is appropriate for the fare.“

“After a long day of driving we decided to stop at the Williamsburg Longhorn Steakhouse for dinner. The atmosphere was very nice and clean, our steaks were delicious, but the best part of our experience was OSCAR, our server. He was so kind, attentive and professional. He kept the glasses filled, and kept checking to see if we needed anything. I noticed he did the same for all of his tables. Even though he was busy he was always pleasant and smiling. He is a true asset to the Longhorn Steakhouse family. Give him a raise!“
