“Stopped in on our way home to Nanaimo from Victoria. Very cool little ice cream truck in the parking lot near the Thrifty Foods. We had a couple of sundaes. The Strawberry one was very good, but the Black Forest one was amazing. The ice cream is vegan but you would never know. It didn’t have a strong coconut flavour which I do not care for. The prices were reasonable, comparable to other home made ice cream shops. There is a nice shaded seating area and you would never know you are in a parking lot. We will be back when passing though.“

“We pulled off the highway to get coffee and fell in love with this little coffee shop, great coffee, baked goods, and lunch items. All delicious!! The rustic atmosphere, grass courtyard, and fun & friendly service all made it a perfect stop. Highly recommend visiting Rusticana Coffee :)“

“Extra is the word I could think of to describe my dinnjng experience. Extra unique experience coz I have not tried this so called afternoon tea like how English people do. Extra in terms of the place,service and let us give the people behind and up front working at this unique cafe for they are doing an excellent job.My husband who does not like sweets loved the triffle. And He himself a self taught “cook” not a chef was amazed of they way there small sandwiches tasted. It tasted diffrent by in a good way.I for myself loved the sausage roll of course coz I am a meat lover (given)And finally the last Extra, you need to have an extra 50+ CAD /person for their afternoon tea. You know what I mean.But if you have it,why not endulge yourself if you ever find yourself inside Butchart Garden.We all deserve that “extra”. ???“

“We had Afternoon Tea at the Dining Room and it was absolutely lovely. The staff was welcoming and helpful; the savory and sweet treats were delicious. Two of our party had requested in advance the gluten free tea menu and they were pleasantly surprised at the variety and quality of those options. The room itself is beautiful and a delightful place to enjoy this wonderful experience.“

“As a SERIOUS Ice Cream 'addicted' person... I can honestly attest to the quality of the ice cream (Non Black Licorice' being my GO TO pretty much EVERY day!!.. to die for flavour!! Totally in love with Lizzy and Dave and the kids too! Amazing Family business. Can't wait to be the 'taste tester' for the new recipe!! <3“

“Staff not friendly, I had at least 3 staff on separate occasions mention tourists and 'not knowing the routine'. Don't know why I keep going back there. Coffee also not good.“

“A mixture of performance art, cafe, organic food, and stirred with a wand of mystical indifference. The owner is a bit challenging and she might serve you or might not, it's kind of like getting an instant tarot reading from your hippy barista. If she is happy she is kind and you shall be served, if she is moody well then it's performance art. The drinks are really good, excellent even. The food is excellent and mostly confectionery and has lovely spices. I am a repeat customer and she even gives me the evil eye from time to time, but she then comes around and does make a wonderful beverage. The rock salt nextdoor has the worst coffee, chai, and is terrible so ya know there are limited options. It's not personal...it's just coffee...Dietary restrictions: Lots of dairy free and gluten-free alternatives.“

“I have a son with multiple severe food allergies so we are a bit of a pain when we order food from restaurants. I cannot say enough good things about the Duncan White Spot. They are always SO accommodating with finding food options that are safe for my son. Many (if not all) of their staff are familiar with how carefully food allergies need to be handled. As a parent of a child with allergies, it is a HUGE relief to find a place that you know your child can eat at safely. This White Spot has, and will continue to be, our go to place when we want too eat out as a family.“
