Good view, decent prices, decent options. We were seated quickly which is great, however, it was very clear that this was the first nice long weekend of the year and the staff were either under prepared or management dropped the ball and hasn't hired and trained a suitable amount of staff for the incoming busy tourist season.Honestly I would come back for sure, I just hope that the staffing levels improve by then.

Food is good but overpriced.Service is meh, waitress can disappear for up to 30 - 40 minutes and this is when its slower.Management attempts to micro manage there staff making everything twice as slow than it should be .Atmosphere is really cool, as you can see the boats and ocean while eating.

The food was decent but this is the longest we’ve ever waited for food… ever. It took 1 hr and 15 mins.Owner was there, spoke to him and he didn’t care 18% “service charge” was included in our bills.

Fantastic serviceGreat location and viewCozy and warmThe best fish and chips!! (I come from a fishing family), and will say that these really are devine!!The oysters were fresh and tasty (one thing I would change, is the crunchy bits they give to add on top of the oysters; it is a weird combo, feels like you might be eating part of the shell or ice on top of the oysters) even though this crunchy stuff tastes good, it was the wrong combo in my opinion. I missed the typical horse radish side.Bathrooms are up the stairs and shared with another place, but they also have a accessible washroom if needed. We will be back!!

HiBeen there with my husband. It’s quite a nice place to be in. Food was delicious.we ordered shrimp popcorns and chicken wings first. It comes with mayo . We find it tasty . Then ordered Tacos (served with fries)and salmon both grilled and fried were equally good. It comes with a cheddar soup and greens. Service was good and quick. We got a table in sun with a view of boats and sea. A well spent afternoon.?

Great food! Had cashew chicken. Hubby had fish and chips. He loved the batter. Cozy place with water view. Quiet. Service fantastic. Will be back! Pay parking but not a big deal. Wasn't busy.

The food was delicious, I had the Cashew Chicken and my sister got the Beef Panang Curry and it was so flavorful and yummy. Serving was a good size and offered lots of flavor!!! We also ordered the Fisherman's pot and the seafood was so fresh and broth was phenomenal!!! Definitely coming

Surprisingly decent food.I had a bad feeling about the place when we entered. We were kind of in a bind - we arrived in Steveston with super cranky hangry kids, big group of all ages so hard to find consensus on a place, and it was starting to sleet. We were heading to a place that turned out to have closed, so we basically walked in to Shady Island by default. The prime location, mishmash of shabby decor, some of which was clearly from previous restaurants occupying the space, and the weird menu (pub food + thai food?) gave the impression of a sloppily run tourist trap. Seeing the bread bowl soup (didn't that go out with the 80s?) furthered my sense of dread. But then the food came, and it was good! Someone did order the bread bowl chowder, and it was delicious. The thai food was intensely flavored and perfectly decent, if a bit oily. I didn't taste other people's dishes but everyone was happy.Service was friendly although a bit haphazard, but overall ok.I wouldn't say we'll be rushing back here but it was a good lunch and we were happy, even the cranky kids.

I was stopping by Steveston to buy something from the toy shop, and I decided to stop in to Shady Island for lunch. I must say I was completely taken back by how amazing this place was. The menu is half thai anf half traditional seafood (I indulged and had a bit of both!) and both dishes were outstanding. My server (Alyssa) was so amazing and quick to help with anything I needed. I will be back soon and recommending to all my friends!
