“Picked this place out from yelp because reviews were good. This place didn't disappoint, got seated quick and staff were really friendly. Everything we ordered from poke bowl, to 3 different rolls and 2 combo plates all tasted fresh and delicious. Atmosphere is real laid back and relaxing. Never felt rushed after we finished eating. Would definitely recommend and will be back.“

“Food: The sushi here is really high quality and every dish that we got tasted pretty good. - Baked Roll: Salmon 5/5 - Nigiri Sushi: Yellow Tail & Salmon 5/5 - Tempura Roll: Tiger, Volcano, Soft Shell Crab, & Golden Dragon 5/5 - Tempura: Calamari 5/5 - Gyoza 2/5. I feel like they're just fillers to get you full faster. Ambiance: The music was good, not too quiet, and not too loud even when I brought my parents. Music choices were also good. Service: All the servers are friendly. I wish they were walking around more or more attentive. Negative: The restaurant looks closed from the outside, but when you open the door, you can see that they're open. The way you order things and the rules they put out is pretty confusing. The limit is 7 different items per round, per paper; limit 2 orders per item, per round, person; and unlimited rounds for 1.5 hours. I still don't get how the rules worked so I just wrote down on the paper whatever I wanted to order and the server would help me out if something went wrong.“

“Was here with my wife and a bigger group about 12. They were able to accommodate us well, but we had to watch close to an hour even after we had reserved ahead of time. Food was really good. Nice at first to view the cook but over time the entertainment wore off and he just started cooking. Came during the week during the evening, so not sure if that affected the experience. They had to split the group in two and the other group did not seem to be to happy with their food. I know portions are on the small side from being here before especially since Plates are around high $40s. Place seems a little dated maybe for the Japanese traditional feel. The food was delicious and was full with that I ate, but for the price seems like I was missing something, maybe it was the entertainment. Service was great. Automatically add tip on bill.Parking: Parking might be a problem if Frank and Sons had an event or are open.“

“The H S Express Delivered, this sushi spot is nothing fancy but is low-key with dynamite fresh flavor and a nice selection of sashimi, sushi, rolls, and a few other goodies to be found at sushi restaurants. The decor is simple, and the service is good ,and the food is very fresh. This is a very small establishment with 5 tables and 2 seats at the bar, still brand new to the neighborhood . I noticed a lot of takeout and a steady flow of patrons to this spot, but I believe that will change when they find out how good this place is. Also, there are only two sushi chefs, so relax and enjoy the time. There is no alcohol served here, so don't let that spoil your experience here. You did come for the Hamachi experience. See you tomorrow ?“

“First visit here. Absolutely loved it. The albacore sashimi should really be renamed a carpaccio. Thinly sliced premium seared albacore with a tangy delicious ponzu sauce. With more than 10 slices, it's the perfect delicacy to share with someone special. Everything else here was super fresh and tasty. The ambience is dark & comfy and the customer service was friendly, quick & efficient. I found my new favorite spot for sushi.“

“Sushi Kisen continues to punch well above its weight and it is 1/3 the price for the same quality as some of the now outrageously expensive sushi places in LA.For about $120, our omakase today included about 10 courses and 2 additional pieces we selected at the end. The quality of the nigiri is self-evident, particularly with the chutoro and the Nemuro uni. Another particular favorite was shiro-ebi. The chef confirmed that it is from Toyama. It should be mentioned that some pieces are ever so slightly on the saltier side (I confirmed that they do season with a drop of salt on some pieces), which I ended up liking but it might be a surprise to some. Extra points for the shari, which was flavorful on its own without taking away from the fish. I also highly recommend asking the chef if they have any seasonal items. We were very pleasantly surprised by our tsuika orders. When I do not have the time to enjoy an omakase at the bar, I would recommend their chirashi bowls.“

“The food was AMAZING ! Teriyaki sauce was bomb and the sushi was on point. Also I love how it's 10pcs for an order of California roll unlike the usual 6-8. Service was also quick and excellent. Too bad we live far. Otherwise this will be a regular place for us.“

“Robots are distracting and loud at times and I prefer personal service. Food innovative and delicious. New/trainee waitress hesitant and seemed overwhelmed which allowed for more conversation. Things amiss are easily fixable: owner & staff stepped in, generously compensated and cared for us. The food is well worth it and we will return again & again.“

“So my baby boy Jude and I went there to get some early birthday sushi everything was great. Service was ok but the food made up for it.Parking: The place is located in Uptown Whittier so for everyone that is not familiar with the area not to worry there is plenty of free parking available all in their parking lot and the streets.Kid-friendliness: It's NOT a cocktail bar it's a Family restaurant with a Sushi bar my kid had a great time.“

“A feast to the eyes and for the palate. However, the whole omakase felt a bit rushed because there was a train of people standing behind us waiting to be seated for the next appointed timeslots. Also, they said it's 10 sushi but it's really like 7 because there's an appetizer that was more like a small plate of Hawaiian poke, a miso soup side dish and a green tea ice cream dessert at the end.Other than that, good experience though.“
