“Stumbled upon this place on a whim with my friends while trying to find some Mexican food and decided why not here? It's a good thing we decided that because I think we ended up each getting 3 rounds of tacos. The pork and beef tacos were delicious and only two dollars each. The toppings and hot sauce are all self-serve. Finally, the horchatas are homemade and delicious! The place only accepts cash, zelle, and cashapp but do not sleep on this place the tacos and horchata are seriously good.“

Quesadilla Man Mexican •

“Corn Man is my go-to spot in LA for satisfying late-night cravings with absolutely delicious corn on the cob. However, the surrounding neighborhood can be a bit sketchy, making it feel unsafe to hang around waiting for your order since there's only one corn man working.Despite encountering a few arguments with random passersby staring at me, the corn here is undeniably tasty and a definite must-try for those late-night munchies.“

Birrieria El Jalisciense Tacos •
3440 E Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles

“tl;dr the delicious, albeit expensive, bone-in birria overshadows the forgettable fried tacos or the tomato-centric consome Birria has earned its place among the most trendy of SoCal culinary buzzwords, and countless spots have popped up in and around the city. For an unpretentious, Jalisco-style take on the dish, try Birria El Jalisciense. This Saturday-only Olympic popup offers its bone-in, twice-cooked birria tatemada (roasted goat birria) paired with a traditionally Jaliscan, tomato-forward consome. The trim operation sets up shop within the recess between a rundown welding warehouse and an industrial laundromat. Driving down Olympic, you won't miss the all-caps "Birria de Chivo" sign propped up in the back of a metallic blue pickup truck. The makeshift checkout counter is cobbled together from pop-up tables and portable kitchenware, and folding chairs are scattered across the adjacent sidewalk underneath E-Z UP canopies. Order off the laminated printout menu, and the staff will add up your bill with pen and paper. Even at the ungodly weekend hour of 8AM, a loyal customer contingent indulges while listening to the blaring public radio on a loudspeaker. My partner and I finally gave Birria El Jalisciense a try, and we faced the smallest of queues at 9AM. We opted for the #2 combination platter (a mix of bone-in and boneless birria, with a side of consome), 2 fried Tacos Dorados, a Taco Suave, and a Quesabirria taco. Within minutes, we were handed styrofoam trays and paper plates, with, curiously, only a single plastic spoon to share. We were most impressed with the succulent, skin-on ribs and the melt-in-your-mouth rich soft taco. However, we were less keen on the not-quite-crunchy tacos dorado or the dry, tough maciza (boneless meat). Furthermore, I was slightly put off by the consome, which tasted more like minestrone than meat drippings. Our bill rounded up to $30, and we were admittedly left peckish afterward. The best bites were well worth the visit, they were too few and far between to leave Birria El Jaliciense a rave review. Lean heavily into the bone-in birria, and you will get the most bang for your buck.“

Birria LA linea Fast Food •
4444 E Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles

“Hands down, the best, best birria tacos I've ever had!!I've been eyeing this taco truck for the longest time when I was looking for birria tacos. I missed the chance to go from the last time I came by. Many other taco vendors also recommend this truck for goat birria tacos. We got some goat birria quesatacos, labio taco dorados, which were lips, asada vampiro, and of course, gotta get consome. Not many places have goat birria, and most of the time, they tend to be too dry. Those quesatacos were super tender, juicy, cheesy, and packed with tons of spices and flavors. Dipping in the beefy, hardy consome, game over. I've never seen beef lips before, so I gotta give a try. It got the texture of beef tongue, also quite delicious. Like any other taco trucks and vendors, service is always impeccable. Everyone is very friendly and supportive to other vendors. I said it once, and I'm gonna say it again. The best birria tacos!!!“

Quesadilla De Chicharron

“First time customer, but will be coming back again soon and often most likely. Ordered the pork (chicharron) quesadilla. There was also a chicken and squash blossom option. The tortillas are blue corn, fresh pressed for each order. The cart is small, but efficiently laid out. Napkins, ice cold drinks and plenty of toppings/salsa options available. There was a line, but I didn’t have to wait long. It was great that she takes either cards or cash too. Highly recommend!“

“MÉXICO (Guerrero) ??Excerpt from Eat the World Los Angeles:While you are standing in line waiting for your chance to order this goat and lamb barbacoa, listen to the conversations of others around you, or if you do not speak Spanish start one yourself. It becomes clear that the vast majority of customers here live in nearby neighborhoods of South and Southeast Los Angeles but originally come from Guerrero. The food and adobo-rubbed Guerrero-style barbacoa they remember is best represented here under the large yellow tent. The stand has lived for over a decade, the tent was once white and much smaller, but now the current one becomes a sight that makes your heart speed up in anticipation of the upcoming meal. Barbacoa can be thrown on any menu, usually resulting in a plate of dry meat laid in front of you, but it takes someone talented and willing to put in the hard work of properly cleaning an animal and cooking it overnight to make the best. After finishing you can start to appreciate the origin stories of this food and the family that serves it. On the business card, a beautiful scene of Taxco shows the main cathedral and the mountains that surround the Northern Guerrero town. It is quite a bit closer to Mexico City than it is to the coastal Guerrero city of Acapulco, and shares a culture similar to the mountainous towns of nearby Estado de México, Morelos, and Puebla, places that have all seen quite a dramatic loss of families that have moved their lives north. It is an honor and a privilege to share meals with those that have come to Los Angeles, and the amazing yellow-tented food stand that fulfills their cravings from back home.“

“Let me say: I LOVE the fact that they make the shells fresh on-the-spot (got that extra corn flavor) and it's pressed right in front of you. Plus you can see them grill everything right there. Pretty self-explanatory: You start at the end of the line where the menu is. You let the lady making the shells know what you want, and she'll start the shells for those items, then you confirm with the next guy cutting up the stuff what kind of meat, so he'll cut it up and throw them on the shells once they're grilled correctly. Any more from the grill is the next guy over, but if you're good, you can skip straight to paying where you can get a drink.Horchata tasted good too!One thing to note: When the guy asked "Que carne?" (What meat?) My cousin said something in the most gringo accent there was. Homeboy's face got contorted as he tried to guess what she meant. Yo, give her a break, she's from Chicago, she's about as white as they come, but she tried. ?“
