“This place is great for a quick sushi bite. You can try a lot of different dishes here because the plates are small and very inexpensive! Atmosphere is similar to one of those Japanese bending machine restaurants. You place your order on a tablet with minimal human contact.“

“Our family enjoys eating at Naked Fish in Millbrae. Their sushi rolls and bento boxes are always delicious. There are many options to choose from between the menu and their daily specials. Their food is presented well and amply portioned. Their service is consistently good and the servers are attentive. Whether we eat a late lunch or dinner with family and friends, we always leave this place full and content. My only criticism of this place is the location. Because the gym is directly above it, more specifically, the weight room, you can hear the weights dropping on the floor on certain occasions and it’s distracting. However, because we enjoy eating here more than anything else, we tolerate the noise on the few instances it’s happened. There is ample parking around, both on the street and in the parking lot next to it.Overall, I recommend you try this restaurant if you’re in the neighborhood.“

“I recalled visiting this place back during the pandemic. I am not so sure if they changed the owner but I must say we were very impressed with the food, the service and the atmosphere inside the restaurant. It has brought me back the memory when I visited one of the ramen stall in Japan. It was just as tiny as this place, even smaller! But it definitely worths the wait :)We ordered the total of 5 dishes and they were all amazing as you can see in the photo. The ingredients are very fresh and you can actually taste the quality! We love good stuff, so we love ‘em all! Absolutely worth the drive! The service is awesome! There were already 3 groups waiting ahead of us. We noted our phone number down as well and waited in front of the restaurant for a while then went for a small walk and shortly after, they called us saying the table was ready! We were so excited. The server is very attentive, polite and very friendly! Forgot to ask for his name but he was great!!! Thank you for his great service that helped made our experience much better :)The atmosphere was great! Reminded me of a time when I visited Japan. Everything is so small but definitely full of quality and worth the wait, so I don’t feel any regret! We’ll definitely come back for more!!!So, if you are concerned about the wait time, consider reaching there right at open :) The price wise is kinda based on Japanese Sushi elsewhere. We spend $130 with 20% tips included but we walked out stuffed!! Highly recommended :)“

“It’s a good stable family restaurant that serves the Bernal height resident. I wouldn’t consider it as an izakaya though, they are lack of that vibe. It’s kids friendly and the day we went, there are 7 kids inside the restaurant. Be prepared for a lot of screams and avoid dinning hour/Friday night if you are scared of kids. The food is decent, not the best I had in town but it is alright. We ordered cheesecake and they gave us ice cream on the house, so that was really nice :)“

“I got assorted sashimi and every piece was fresh and flavorful. They even put real wasabi on the tuna which I've only seen done once before. I was thrilled that they serve brown rice. When I called to make a reservation I was in an area where my call dropped. They called me back! So incredible service, food and very reasonable prices. We will return!“

“The fish is very fresh and amazing. These guys are excellent sushi makers. It’s becoming so popular the service has slowed and they can get a bit overwhelmed. So many people there picking up takeout. They almost need a separate sushi bar for take out! Most excellent!“

“Authentic sushi experience in downtown San Mateo. Plenty of choices from the omakase menu, as well as the standard/regular dinner menu. Efficient and friendly service, but please note there’s a 90-minute limit for dinner. Paid street parking and it’s free after 6:00pm and also free on Sundays.“

“The best sushi place in SF…I am a sushi lover. The fish there are so fresh and the Uni are premium. From the sashimi to the Kobe beef, everything is top. Their pricing is also very reasonable. Eric and Phoebe are very nice and provide excellent service.“

“One of my all-time favorite sushi restaurants. Always busy and always worth it! Haven’t had anything there I haven’t liked yet.We typically order the omakase and add a couple more items like the toro and blue shrimp. Their plates are delicious as well, but I definitely recommend the omakase hands down. The reason I love their omakase so much:1. Always fresh, always yummy2. They season based on the fish. So, they don’t just have one sauce that gets added to everything. There is a journey to taste.3. You get a dessert! As I said, place is always busy. If you are able to make reservations, recommend that but I sometimes have a hard time reaching them over the phone. Otherwise, get there 15-20 min before they open and prepare to stand in line for a bit.“

“I ordered the “Deluxe Chirashi Bowl” on DoorDash and was satisfied with the meal. Some points:1. Overall, the cuts of fish are very high quality. I applaud them for this. Chu-toro was cut generously.2. The sauces are too overpowering. It felt way too salty with how much ponzu was drizzled. Traditionally, chirashi/kaisen don bowls should highlight the fish. I felt like I was tasting too much sauce for my liking. The rice was not enough to “balance out” the saltiness. Then, there was also this sour-sweet relish that, by itself, could be good. But they drizzled so much of it I couldn’t taste the fish/rice anymore. Overall, too much sauce.3. I appreciated how they added their “signature touch” to the chirashi bowl with puréed yam. It balanced the salmon.4. Presentation is very good. I liked how they scored the salmon. Good touch.5. For a deluxe chirashi bowl, I was let down with only a single piece of uni and a single piece of amaebi. Usually, uni should come in two pieces? Somewhat understandable, since Santa Barbara uni is expensive these days (I’m pretty sure it’s Santa Barbara uni).6. Rice is okay—nothing special unfortunately. I admit I have pretty high standard with my sushi rice though.“

“This is the besssttt omakase I’ve ever had. “Cozy little Japanese restaurant with super friendly servers. The owner works at the counter. I come for Ishiyaki Hitsumamushi (Stone Bowl Seafood Rice) which I don’t think is served anywhere else. I also had tuna bone marrow for appetitzer and black sesame cheesecake for dessert. So many other dishes I want to try so will be back.“

“Ok, so if you never had true Wagyu let me tell you get it here! I don’t usually go to Japanese restaurants but have started more recently and I’m in love with the politeness, the culture of privacy and respect it’s very pleasant. The sake was super good. Loved the atmosphere 5/5 on food, 5/5 for flavor and 5/5 for design. And it’s 6 minutes away from the San Francisco Airport.“

“After hearing great things about Sushi Kashiwa, I brought my mom here for her birthday dinner and it did not disappoint. While they were busy as it was a Friday night, they made sure my mom had a special night for her celebration. We ordered a variety of rolls and everything was delicious. My favorite was the Japanese Oysters and Bluefin Toro w/ Uni Nigiri. Toro and Uni was buttery smooth and just melted in my mouth. Another highlight dish is the Kashiwa Supreme Sushi Box, which is a mini omakase. This was a great way to sample all the different dishes and flavors the restaurant had to offer. My dad ordered their udon with shrimp tempura (not pictured) and he gave it a two thumbs up!! From their starters to their rolls to their kitchen entrees, this place is a 10/10.I’m already looking forward to my next meal here at Sushi Kashiwa so I highly recommend you come and check it out“

“Thought the sushi quality was high and the food came out fast. Appreciated the unprompted refills of tea too - at some restaurants it can be hard to get more tea!Particularly enjoyed the daily specials of sushi from Toyosu fish market. I can see why some people found the portions small but it tasted delicious so I would get it again.Croquette and tempura were good.I found the tuna salmon avocado tower awkward to eat and preferred soy sauce and wasabi on it rather than the sweet miso sauce provided, but I guess I like my miso on specific foods. Very generous with the avocado and it was perfectly ripe.Tamogoyaki was well executed - excellent flavor and the chashu had a good texture and was yummy. The egg wasn't as fluffy as I might like but it was delicious and I'd definitely recommend it.Ugh now I'm hungry and want the food. Definitely felt like a izakaya with a sushi focus; felt very authentic!“

“Cannot say enough great things about Tokie’s! We find ourselves coming here more and more. Everything here is just done right. It has the dining area with bar seating, frequently playing sports. But it’s sectioned off so it doesn’t impact the diners. Cocktails are great, the sake is great, the food is great, the prices are great, it’s all just great! Our service is always fantastic (Sho is the best) and you can tell the owner not only cares about his establishment, but also his community.“

“MJ Sushi in Foster City is our favorite sushi restaurant. We can’t get enough! I’m vegetarian, so it can be hard to find sushi restaurants with vegetarian options. However, I am delighted with MJ Sushi’s vegetarian rolls. Their food is high quality and tastes great. The wait staff are also very pleasant and welcoming. I would definitely recommend MJ Sushi in Foster City to anyone in the area looking for good vegetarian sushi.“

“Ghost kitchen concept with a super accommodating and friendly owner. Got the salmon trio box, bara Chirashi, and bluefin tuna box. I ordered kind of late but was willing to drive to San Mateo and her and I were able to work out a timing to pick upEverything was amazing and such good value. Ju-I is super generous with her uni and roe. The rice is flavored very well and doesn’t even need additional soy sauce in its cute pipette. The chirashi box didn’t look exactly like the pictures but makes sense when it’s so fresh. We are girls, who don’t like eating too much rice, but we consumed ALL the rice in the chirashi box. Will definitely get the salmon and tuna boxes again!“

“Food was so good and so filling. Definitely a great sushi spot. My only note was for our group gratuity was included but the receipt still had a section to add additional gratuity so just be mindful if you have a large group to pay attention to the receipt. Otherwise everything else was lovely.“

“First time trying here. The chirashi bowl was filling, with plenty of sushi rice, no fish roe but for a lil less than $20 and the amount of fish was good and it was fresh and tasty. The chicken karaage here was def better than a lot of restaurants, it was very good. Neku donburi was okay, it’s with mushrooms as well. Will definitely come back again for the fried foods and chirashi“

“I’m a big fan… probably come once a week 80% of the time for the past five years. Current ownership has been here the past two years and are doing great. Nigiri and rolls are consistently solid.Google messed up their entry and as a result, Sishi Kuu lost all of their history which was well-deserved.If you’re not familiar, check it out, you’ll eat well.“

“I have been wanting to try this place for years and keep forgetting about it as it is located in a small strip mall on the other side of the tracks (literally) so I tend not to think of that side of town for dining.I was greeted immediately and sat at the bar. I have favorites I like to order in order to gauge the quality of the place and chef.First, the disappointment: the futomaki was plain, uninspiring, and plain dull. Not worth the $14. And a futomaki is a traditional roll that allows for a lot of creativity. I have had some stellar futomakis. Not so here.I had a bottle of junmai ginjo at $24 dollars. It was smooth... almost too smooth. The rice polish is 55%, same as one of my favorites, Kikusui junmai ginjo that has more distinct characteristics. While I have no complaints per se, I would look for something else next time. The nigiri was very good. Good taste, generous cuts/portion size, and the uni was great. Very fresh. Thank you Santa Barbara!I'd give the place a 4.5 to be more fair. I'll be happy to go back, but with more realistic expectations.“

“Went to this sushi spot craving some unagi rolls. Tried their specialty "Firecracker" roll, which had unagi, avocado, seared salmon, jalapeño, and spicy mayo. The rolls were really yummy and had a decent kick. Also tried their tonkotsu ramen. I'm pretty picky with my ramen as I prefer a thicker creamier broth. This definitely had the creamy tonkotsu flavor that I like. Would recommend this spot for sushi and ramen! Each plate was around $10-$20.“
“We frequent Shiki at least monthly. The variety on the menu is very good, no complaints about the quality of the food or raw fish, they typically have seating, and I have no complaints about the service. Overall it's a great last minute choice in a packed San Carlos/Redwood City area.“

“This is a contender for sushi sophistication in the SF Bay Area. Each item I had was just perfect: all nigiri cuts were spot-on for an incredible experience: fresh but not hard-fresh, melt-in-your-mouth buttery yet not past-its-prime, just perfect! Becky, my server, went so much out of the way to guide me through the menu and it paid off: I ordered items I would have missed without her help. This is one of those rare sushi-heaven spots that any enthusiast would be delighted to find! 6 stars!“

“This place is not for the people who wants to eat fast food, you need to wait a long time for your food specially if the restaurant has a lot of customers. They probably will take between 40 minutes to 1 hour to serve you. They need to learn to serve all the food together for the same party and not 1 person and then the other person 20 minutes later… we ordered the Bashamishi combo, Tonkotsu ramen with the appetizer oysters. Everything was acceptable but not exceptional. I felt that the oysters were ok.Visited the restaurant again and ordered the lover’s plate sushi and sashimi and my friends said it was excellent. Ordered the mix tempura which was very good too. Again this place is to relax and talk with friends.“
