“The best Sushi I've had in my life!????? The ambiance and the atmosphere is so on point, very Japanese style. Didn't feel Americanized at all ?????Vegetarian options: 100% Vegan and it's amazing!Dietary restrictions: It's seems like there's options for most dietary restrictions.“
“Incredible flavors and a lovely, cozy dining experience. We felt so well taken care of by Tricia and our sushi chef and they made celebrating our anniversary really memorable. The unique flavor combinations and quality of the fish were so good. Some of our favorites from the oki: the ora king salmon, the sea bream, the otoro and the sashimi salad with the shiso flowers. The chef explained each course and paced our meal so we never felt rushed. The sake selection is awesome as well with really unique and different flavors like the takacho "regal hawk" that would be great on its own for sipping and the very plummy ume suppai. Next time I might pick the chisai and try more supplements. We left feeling comfortably full and satisfied.“
“Ju Ni in San Francisco is an exceptional dining experience that deserves no less than five stars. Specializing in Japanese cuisine, the restaurant offers an intimate and meticulously crafted menu that showcases the finest ingredients and culinary skills. Holding two Michelin stars for two years is a testament to its consistent quality and innovation. The chef at Ju Ni is not only professional but also engaging and interesting, adding a unique touch to the dining experience. This place is a must-visit for anyone seeking an unparalleled sushi experience in San FranciscoP.S. I believe the dinner menu starts around 200 per person. Adding drink and some other items, it’s around 300$ per person.“
“It was always pleasant to experience chef making your the nigiri in front of you.My favorite dish from the menu was:Honmaguro Toro Nigiri ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Anago Nigiri ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Kamasu Nigiri ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Hojicha Ice Cream ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Recommended to visit this restaurant to experience high quality Japanese cuisine!“
“Wow. That's the exact word to describe the entire tasting experience from start to finish. There's not much else to say lol My wife and I are addicted to sushi, especially when it comes to an omakase option. Without giving too much away, the price is incredibly reasonable for the quality and amount that you get. A great bonus is their unique selection of sake (the drink, not the fish) which paired quite nicely with everything we ate. We will definitely be back for another visit!“
“We had a wonderful experience! The staff were professional, friendly, informative, and even helped cater to our specific dining needs as a family. A la carte extras (from same omakase menu) could be ordered and were every fairly priced. We would 100% recommend.“
“One of my favorite sushi experiences ever, and I've been to Japan. The service was so exceptional that I almost started to feel bad. The food was fresh, innovative, and incredibly fresh. The vibe and ambiance were great. 10/10 would highly recommend if you can afford it.“
“My first visit to this new Kuma location. If you enjoy good sushi Kuma is the place to go in San Francisco. We go to Kuma every time I'm in San Francisco to see my daughter and I feel like the food and experience is better each time. I highly recommend the tuna collar. I've never had it anywhere else and it is awesome!“
“Fantastic date night experience. Definitely sit at the sushi bar, very fun to watch the chefs prep each piece. Every dish was beautifully plated. Fresh and balanced flavors. Nice modern twist to omakase. Appreciated the modern Japanese art, chic and intimate atmosphere.Robin was recommended by a good foodie friend from the Bay. I understand why she and all the foodie lists reference Robin. It’s a great place to eat and savor modern sushi when visiting the Bay.“
“Hands down, this is my favorite sushi spot! The fish is always fresh, and the service is always friendly and on point (I love these guys!). Recently tried the new HaRa roll from the changing list of featured rolls. I used to always get the Ox and Tiger from that list when it was offered, but I think I actually prefer the HaRa now. And if you’re not feeling like having rolls, highly recommend the uni, hotate, maguro, ikura (I always add shizo), or basically anything else haha. I can’t get enough of this place… I’m a little crazy for it.“
“The most impressive of the seven nigiri is the chargrilled medium rare tuna. When you get close, you can smell the strong aroma of chargrilled tuna. The two sides are more cooked, and the middle retains the taste of sashimi, which is very delicious ❤️ Overall, the nigiri was fresh and delicious, with a very rich flavor Their food has a stronger flavor than other Omakase stores“
“Truly for "Friends Only!" Ten seats at an "L"-shaped raw bar. Got to chat and share experiences with all the guests AND the staff. Made a lot of "Friends" tonight and got to share dining at its finest and food of superior quality and taste!“
“An amazing omakase experience in SF and reasonably priced. All the sushi was so fresh and paired well with the different flavors. Even their non-sushi dishes were wonderful and their ice dessert was amazing. Make a reservation because they’re very small and fill up quickly“
“A phenomenal omakase experience. The customer service and food is top notch. Recommended for either those who fly solo or are looking for an intimate dinner date. Not cheap by any means, but you get what you pay for; which, in this case, is the quality and experience. Reservations are recommended since there are only 12 to 16 seats - walk in without a reservation at your own risk. Will be visiting again at some point.“
“The atmosphere inside, as the evening closes it's wonderful since the giant window gets a nice bit of sunlight, it's calm inside which is offset by three One Piece wall prints. One of them decided to splice one piece into "onep" "iece" which I found very avant garde. The takoyaki was great, hard to get it wrong but obvious when so Edamame was plentiful and garlicky, exactly what I expected from garlic butter edamame Our rolls were excellent, you can taste the quality is definitely above average Service was attentive, I enjoyed eating here and would be back if in the area, prices are a little up there but understandable“
“They have omakase, which I would very much recommend. It's one bite of everything, and the chef makes it right there. Don't worry, you'll be full by the end lolDietary restrictions: They ask you when about allergies and restrictions when you sit down so you'll be fine unless you have a seafood allergy“
“We decided to visit Sura Sushi for a casual workday late dinner. Our experience was nothing short of delightful. We started with Buri Daikon soup, which provided comforting warmth.Opting for a selection of Nigiri and Sashimi, we were thoroughly impressed. Each piece showcased the freshness and quality of the ingredients. From the Chu Toro to the O Tor, Engawa to Sunazuri, and Hotate, every bite was a symphony of flavors and freshness. Highly recommend this place.“
“The handrolls are very tasty, although quite small. One person could easily eat six alone. The service felt a bit stiff, and the stools definitely work best with squishy butts. Overall I'm happy I finally gave them a try, although I'm not in a hurry to go back.“
“I can’t believe I never reviewed this restaurant. We eat here regularly at the restaurant and for takeout. The food is delicious for adults and for children. My son really loves the salmon teriyaki and the veggie sushi; I love their unique appetizers / tapas and their sushi. Reliable and one of the best restaurants in Castro and Noe.Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly“
“My server clearly forgot to put in the roll I ordered and blamed the kitchen. My whole family was done eating and my roll arrived after everyone was already done. No apology, no comp. We own a restaurant as well and this is something that would never fly.“
“Rocket Sushi is super fun, the fish is fresh, and I had a wonderful time! You order on a tablet and a model rocket will LAUNCH your food to your table! My favorite you must get is the Blue Fin Toro because the marbling so so beautiful and it tastes rich and salty! Get the Black Angel roll too as it is topped with caviar! You will NOT leave Rocket sushi hungry as the rice and fish ratio is massive compared to other sushi places! Overall, Rocket sushi serves fresh high quality fish that is enjoyable and tasty!“
“the food was spectacular. I have not enjoyed sushi so much in years. Very authentic selection, and high quality products. Just right in every way. I really enjoyed the rainbow rolls and cheese tempura. Staff is very friendly and give you great advice about whatever is the best option of the day.Kid-friendliness: chicken teriyaki is great. portions are generous and staff very friendly.“
“Walked in to the quiet and unassuming location and left sated and with an overly full belly!I began with a spicy tako salad - a perfect mix of tako, cucumber, seawead and a sprig of mint. Enough spice to feel for a few minutes afterwards while my sushi was being prepared.First up was a trio of Salmon belly, Hamachi belly, and Toro. Each one was more delicated and delicious than the previous. Next were two great pieces of Ama Ebi with perfectly fried heads. The Sexy Roll followed - a mixture of Hamachi and avacado topped with more Hamachi, Green tobiko and jalapeno. My desert round was Mackerel, Scallop, and the Buddhilicous Roll. The service was exceptional and the value for what I paid was outstanding. My only negative was self-inflicted and that's because I only found this spot on my last free evening in town.I'll be back for sure...“
“MUST visit omakase restaurant in San Francisco! This is a perfect omakase restaurant that deserves a rating higher than five stars. Our chef is incredibly passionate and friendly, and the service staff are also very accommodating. The overall dining atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing.Everything was handled perfectly and the seasoning of seafood, allowed us to taste the natural sweetness of the ingredients. It's a truly amazing dining experience! Would definitely revisit again!“
“The atmosphere is extremely elegant, the fish is high quality and well prepared and presented. I have been to over 30 sushi restaurants in the city of SF and Otoro Sushi is literally the best quality sushi experience you can get for the price. The service is always pleasant. I cannot compliment this restaurant enough.Vegetarian options: The vegetarian options are on par in quality and artisanal skill with the fish dishes. One of the only places where the vegetarian rolls feel like a real consideration rather than an afterthought. I take all my vegetarian friends here. The futomaki and the pickles are a highlight. I genuinely get the futomaki over fish rolls sometimes.“
“It was such a wonderful and enjoyable experience. Roger and the rest of the staff are incredibly loving and friendly. We could not have asked for a more memorable experience. Thank you so much for making us feel so loved and cared for!Ask for the sushi bar seats - you will not regret it! It is your very own omasake experience, but better because in addition to really good sushi, you get to enjoy Roger's company. Highly recommend the aged tuna, Norwegian mackerel, and Wagyu nigiri! Also, make sure to leave some room for their in-house ice cream and desserts!“
“Both the main dish and the side dish are a sure-fire meal every time. I was surprised that the restaurant was empty this time, even though it is difficult to make a reservation. This is the extent of the impact of people not coming to downtown SF. I have to support you!“
“Came here on a Tuesday night with my coworkers without a reservation. Great for large groups and it was walking distance from the grand Hyatt on Stockton. Very walkable and didn't feel dangerous at night. We had 12 people total. Food was good. Overall less than 800 for 12 people which is not bad. They had no issues with separating the alcohol bill for each person.“
“A small casual sushi restaurant on geary. They have a variety of rolls and appetizers. They dont serve bento boxes, but do serve some rice bowls. Service was quick and we noticed a lot of people ordering to go. We ordered edamame, chicken karage, CA roll, SF roll, caterpillar roll, cherry blossom roll, and rainbow roll. Our food came out quickly. The edamame came out hot and topped with salt. The chicken karage was a decent portion for 2 with fairly big pieces and came with spicy mayo sauce. The rolls were fresh and had good amount of fish. The cherry blossom roll was our favorite. We kept our expectations low but we were thoroughly impressed by the food, especially with affordable prices. Highly recommend this place and will be coming again soon.“
“This sushi spot might take a bit of searching to find, but it's definitely worth it. Despite its unassuming appearance, the prices are surprisingly affordable without skimping on quality. The fish to rice ratio is just right, and the portions are generous. Their sashimi combo is a standout, showcasing the freshness of their fish. The staff are friendly, though the atmosphere can get a bit noisy. Overall, if you're looking for quality sushi at a reasonable price, give this place a try.“
“Arrived before our showing to the ballet, the staff was extremely thoughtful with our time, asking for our curtain time in order to bring out the Omakase without delay. We had a delightful series of courses but unfortunately had to run to our show before dessert. Shout-out to Ben who went above and beyond in hosting us after closing, insisting we come back so that we could enjoy our desserts and sake on the house. It really was a warm and amicable end to our night.“
“A good sushi place with a rotating seasonal selection of uncommon fish. The fish is fresh, the price reasonable and the sake selection is good. Service is a bit slow though when we were there. It took about an hour for 7 types of nigiri to be served. Seems like the chefs were overwhelmed with orders even when the restaurant is just full, not packed.“
“Happy hour is amazing! Great prices on nigiri, rolls, and drinks until 6:30pm.We also ordered seafood sonomono which was HUGE!!! Great prices for everything. The best part is all their seafood is sustainably sourced.Dietary restrictions: They will make anything gluten free upon request.“
“Food was great and staff are polite. You order on an iPad and bring your food out to you, which was to use easy and convenient.Too much plastic waste for dine in orders though. Trash can was overflowing from disposable containers thrown out by customers exiting the restaurant.“
“If you love Sushi, this is the place for you!! While the restaurant is small, it's decorated nicely and it gives you a cozy feel. We had Nigiri tasting-chef's choices, Wabi-Sabi roll and Aka-Doragon roll. Fish was very fresh and nicely presented, and tempura was also delicious. Highly recommended.“
“I took my partner here for his birthday and it did not disappoint! The service, the ambiance, and most importantly, the food were all fantastic. There wasn't an average element to any part of the omakase and the service was impeccable. Would love to visit again!“
“I came here to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday. She had Nirigi Omakase and I had Chef's Omakase. It's only 10 bucks difference. Nirigi Omakase included uni. Chef included strawberry mochi but no uni. The sashimi of fish was fresh and soft. It could melt in your mouth. Toro is my fav. I also ordered wagyu and unagi. Of course, the wagyu beef was tasty, which I prefer to eat it last, so the taste could last longer in your mouth. I love unagi, so it was a must to order. This place was the third restaurant where I could truly have fresh eel. It was so good and I wish I had ordered one more. Very high quality of sashimi. Excellent services. Everything was good, except one point. The suggested tips included taxes. Basically you pay tips for taxes if you go with their suggestion tips. That needs to be changed. Anyways I would come back for more. Thank you.“
“Best sushi experience in the Bay Area! The food is amazing, and the owner is very attentive to his customers. Portions are generous and quality doesn't miss!Make sure to call in to reserve a spot first! Looking forward to returning to this restaurant ☺️?“
“Such a unique dining experience. Gorgeous views of the river, cool and quirky decor......you have to go! Food is delicious with fun specials. If you have allergies, they are super accommodating and knowledgeable. One of my favorite hamburgers...maybe ever. Staff is always friendly and helpful!“
“Atmosphere was awesome, such great vibes. Food was delicious, high quality and very very well made. Obviously the sushi rolls were good, but the appetizers were awesome too!We came as a part of four, were seated immediately at the bar and had an awesome time enjoying wonderful food!“
“Wow....walk away sushi... No seats. Just to-go Fresh hamachi Tasty unagi I am in effing heaven! Open one on my side of the park, buddy. Ambiance is to go. Bruh.... Clean Friendly owner/sushi chef. Bottom line - good Sushi. I had nigiris to go. One order is 3 pieces, my friends....not 1 Not 2, But three pieces!!! JYW highly recommends! Tell Taka the sushi chef hello He used to own and operate in Japantown for a couple of decades !“
“San Francisco, you gotta love that city, what a vibe, every neighborhood has its unique charm. In one of the neighborhoods you will find Shoshin Sushi, a very nice, cozy, authentic, small restaurant. The food is not out of this world but definitely with its own charm. I loved the makis but wasn’t very fond of the carpaccios, the sauce is flat and does not bring out the flavor of the fish much.On the other hand, the makis were all very good, the Naruto is one that you should particularly try, spicy tuna with avocado wrapped in a cucumber sheet with ponzu and olive oil, very refreshing. The place has a nice atmosphere with very friendly people, enjoy ?“
“Super fun vegan sushi menu. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Hours were a bit hard to find online during the soft opening but emailing the staff works well.My friend and I got a good laugh about them not having hot water to serve instead of tea (which seems to be free and super caffeinated !) and then going to the bathroom and the sign read "extremely hot water!" I'm definitely coming back, maybe with my thermos of hot water ?Vegetarian options: Lots of rolls and maki. Vegan dragon roll and cherry blossom roll were the favs!“
“The food here was amazing! Highly recommend. We came in for a late seating so it wasn’t overly busy. The maki rolls were very unique and extremely delicious. Get the bluefin tuna sashimi, this is the best dish I’ve had at any sushi restaurant.“
“We had lunch at the Elephant Sushi on Grove, and it was a delight! We had a selection of artisan pickles; salt, vinegar and miso cured to compare, followed by a collar of fish with a sweet, crusty marinade! My favourite was a sushi roll steamed at the table in a foil pocket! Flavour explosion! My friends loved the raw offerings, (not my personal thing) served with fascinating garnishes like saffron stamens, and truffle shavings! The cocktails were strong, tasty, and well balanced to complement the sushi. I nearly got kicked off my chair by the Asian pear cocktail, with a beautiful marigold garnish! We sat there for about an hour and a half, trying different things! Highly recommend their food!“
“I love this gem of a local restaurant. I love sushi & I love traditional Japanese food. I was very interested from the get go in seeing that they had a Bento lunch special that included saba shioyaki, sashimi, California roll, salad and miso soup. I ordered it and it was delicious. They also serve Gen Mai Cha, makes my heart smile. The food was excellent. Even more impressive is the lunch specials that they serve to the kids from Lincoln High & other schools. They have an open booth in the front, specifically for high school kids (similar to an old school movie theater ticket booth) to where the kids are lined up. They prepare boxes just for them. Also, a ton of local construction workers, SFPD, locals in general. The owners greet everyone when they come in & also do the traditional thank you & goodbye when everyone leaves. They have pictures lining the walls of their regulars on one side of the room. On the other side, drawings from regulars, mostly kids and teenagers. I love this place!!! I took my husband there for lunch last week. We had our normal sushi restaurants for years. Our former favorite changed hands. He was skeptical when we went in. He was wowed when he was served his food. ? It's our new favorite place.“
“The flavors were crazy good. I loved every bite of my food and I will definitely go back here. The drinks were awesome and the restaurant was so pretty as well. The ambiance was amazing and the people in the restaurant handled each order with such care. I loved my experience and will definitely go back soon.“
“We have been coming to Sushi Zone since 2009. It is lovely- incredible food, cute small restaurant, open kitchen. We love their sushi, but their warm dishes- the baked bass, salmon Kama and hamachi Kama are not to be missed. We will be back and highly recommend Sushi Zone!“
“I'd give this place a 4.5 star if Google allowed me. I came by with a coworker for dinner this past Friday. We arrived at the restaurant a little after 6pm, and were a little surprised that the restaurant was fully empty. It was a rainy day, so that may have contributed. We got seated and ordered some miso soup, edamame, hot sake, the serious nigiri combination platter, and a black & white roll. The miso was alright, a tiny bit light on taste. The edamame was well boiled, with a generous sprinkling of salt on top. The nigiri platter contained 12 pieces, and the fish all tasted fresh. The roll was also well made, with Yellowtail and tempura shrimp.Overall, this was a nice little restaurant if you want a low key and quiet dinner, with good quality fish and well made rolls.“
“I went to KEN for my birthday and it was absolutely phenomenal. The fish was delicious; so many new flavors and combinations; the chef was superb - talented and entertaining, with great attention to detail. The service was impeccable. I cannot say enough good things!“
