Great food, quick service, but not quicker than we needed, attentive waiter, portions were outstanding. They do a lot of takeout business, which can be a slight distraction. But highly recommend.

Another very enjoyable night at gales! Everything was, as usual, well done. The cocktails are well made and there is a good list of reasonable priced, good wines to choose from. Tonight the appetizer and salads were the stars of the show. We had braised artichokes with burrata...delicious! The pear, & fennel salad was also very good although it could have used a little more greens. The entrees were both fish, halibut and berumundi (sp?). Both were very good. We finished the night with a shared piece of coconut cake. A good time was had by all .... As usual!!

3rd time coming here. Restaurant is great, as usual. Attentive servers. Change that. Amazing servers. The gentleman from last night made great food recommendations and verified if my choices were top notch. He brought me a house wine (Cab). I wasn't thrilled with it and he wouldn't allow me to keep it. He brought out 2 other bottles for me to try and we found a great Napa Valley Cab. Appetizers and main courses were great. So here's my problems. 1) I don't know if it's Gale's fault or Opentable, but if Opentable is responsible, Gale's should really get on them about updating the menu items and prices. Huge pet-peeve is going to a restaurant for a certain item that was on the menu and finding out they no longer serve it or it was popular so its now doubled in price. 2) If your kitchen is closing at 8pm, why are you taking 7:45pm reservations. We got there at 7:40. The lady checking us in had to check to see if it was ok to seat us. A gentleman came over and told us, like he was doing us a favor, that he'd go ahead and allow us to be seated, but we had to order immediately because the kitchen was closing. I hate to be rushed at dinner. Luckily we had the greatest server and he took his time with us and made it right. Love this place, but just a few things need to be taken care of.

I love this restaurant- it's one of my favorite places when I'm in LA. I highly recommend it, and you really can't go wrong ordering anything but their risottos are amazing!!

We had party of 4, and with a reservation were promptly seated. The restaurant was very busy for a Sunday evening, and most of the tables were occupied. Our server seemed overly distracted and was slow to service our table and was not willing to spend time on us. We ordered water while reviewing the menu and was only given 3 glasses for a party of 4, and had to request the 4th glass a couple times. After placing our food order, we waited for quite a while for the appetizers to be served. Meanwhile, we observed our waiter at adjacent table spending inordinate amount of time with customers that were seated after us. They were obviously regular customers and were given more attention. The main courses were served, and the portions were generous in size, and our party agreed the food was tasty. It is unfortunate that again the lack of service to our table left more of an impression then the food. We were not offered grated cheese or other condiments and had to request it from our waiter as he rushed by to serve the other table. Unfortunately, we had no interest to try desert and had to request our check from a different server as our server was too busy at the other table. Although food is obviously the most important factor for a restaurant, but the lack of attention to the customer was disappointing and overshadowed the experience.

Excellent pasta and always an enjoyable dinner here at one of Pasadena's best restaurants. I loved my shrimp and crab meat ravioli and my wife her manicotti. Have their tasty coconut cake for dessert!

Typically love outdoor dining but we made dinner reservations a week in advance and arrived on time, and we were still placed outside in the tent even asking for an indoor seat. There were at least 4/5 tables empty that we could see that could seat our party of 5 but we were denied those seats and said we would have to wait 45min for those tables. Since we had little kids and we're celebrating a birthday, we didn't want to take too long. So we were stuck outside in the rain and cold (they had space heaters but unfortunately our table was not under one so we ate in our heavy coats/jackets) After dinner we skipped the desserts bc we were too cold and uncomfortable to stay around any longer.

We don't eat at Gale's often but have always really enjoyed it. Hosted my brother and sister in law last night and result were so mixed I'm not sure how to feel. Everyone else's salads were good but my corn chowder was meh. Nothing really wrong with it but was expecting more. My wife's ravioli and my sister-in-law's steak were very good. My real beef was with my risotto. The seafood was good but that was not risotto. The texture and flavor were far more akin to simply steamed rice. Gale's is capable of so much better. Hopefully next time...

Gale's regular menu is always delicious but we usually end up trying one of the specials just because they're outstanding. Volume is much less in the back room which is where we always sit. Our waiter there is friendly and makes an effort to make sure you're always happy with your food and drinks.

It was a perfect lunch on a Monday , it was pretty quiet and my friend and I had a good time catching up after 5 years not seeing each other , we were not being bothered and stayed quite a while. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great!

The food was delicious and well made - as usual. The service really detracted from our experience. This is the second time we have come and found the waiters to be diffident and almost rude. Such a contrast with the excellent food.

Delicious bread to start with, salad had too much dressing but was still good and manicotti had a lot of filling and good flavors. Service was good and enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant.
