“A beautiful date night spot where you can sit beneath string lights nestled in an alleyway, listening to live music (plus, they have outdoor heaters!). Plates are tapas style and the bar is full, with an advantage for mezcal enthusiasts. Bonus- The wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They recommended some drinks for us to try and gave us some suggestions on the entrees. The drinks were great and we recommend the sea bass! Nice atmosphere with good service and lots of mezcal.”

“Great atmosphere, definitely a nice date place. The service was great and friendly. I didn’t have a reservation but they were able to give me a seat at the bar. I ordered the onion soup and beef tartare. Supposedly onion soup is their signature dish, but it was really salty, I was a bit disappointed…. Because it was a $20 bowl of soup. The beef tartare was excellent, it would be nice if they offer one extra slice of bread and some more salad leaves. I was happy that they have half bottle of wine that I can order. Wine list is quite nice.”

“Great restaurant but couple things:1) the food, pastas in particular, are very heavy flavored, we went in large group and all of us had digestive upset that night.2) the server pushed us to order way too much. She had us order 12 dishes (not including bread) for our party of 6 adults and asserted it would be a light meal. We ordered at least three dishes too many. And we are not light eaters. We were not happy with her guidance.”

“Cons: (LONG WAIT EVEN AFTER HAVING RESERVATIONS). I had 6:30pm reservation for my fiancé birthday and had a show to go to at 9pm. We didn’t get seated til about 7pm with no place to really wait but stand at the front of the restaurant with limited space. We didn’t get our food til about 8pm so we had to rush and swallow our food to make it to our 9pm show. We didn’t get to try their butter cake ☹️Pros: the food was delicious. I had the salmon and my fiancé had the sea bass. We also had the truffle ( basically a pizza/flat bread). We were both impressed how tasteful the food was (just wished we had more time to savor our food a bit more). The ambiance is nice and romantic with dim lighting. We sat upstairs as requested per my reservation so that was nice. Drinks were perfect as well. I had a skinny margarita. Also, the manager came over and apologized about the delay and he definitely made it up to us, because of this gesture, it made our experience at NICKS an overall pleasant one.Overall, we will definitely be back. I am now aware that having reservations won’t really matter and there’s a possibility of still waiting to be seated. So expect a wait even to get your food. I think better planning on my end now that i know how it is, so we’re not rushed out or anything, would make it an even better experience. Need to go back to try that seafood soup with the sourdough bread and butter cream cake ??”

“Serving some of the best seafood in Pasadena! Situated at the heart of beautiful Old Town Pasadena, Fishwives is a solid spot if you're looking for variety and a bit of a change from your usual American greasy food.Their ceviche is outstanding and so fresh; the fried oysters on devilled eggs were incredibly flavourful and cooked to perfection - with the right amount of crunch; the lobster roll was scrumptious with chunks of lobster meat in every bite; and their fish and chips were outstanding - featured a great crispy batter paired with their excellent fries. Everything that we ordered was great plus service was spot-on!Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for seafood in the Pasadena area.”

181 E Glenarm St #110, Pasadena

“Food five stars, service five stars...The food is good, I like spicy but they have a good balance of flavor that made the extra spice I usually like unnecessary, the portions are generous. I don't really like mole but after trying some of their mole, I don't think I can continue saying that. The restaurant is cozy, clean and has good/attentive staff. Our server was Rene and he is courteous and attentive, next time I will try their desserts I just wasn't ready for their portions and got full / was left with no room for dessert. The four stars on the atmosphere section is only because, for me to truly judge a restaurant's atmosphere you need to experience it during its busy time when it's buzzing with people and all the staff is present. I love that it is cozy, it is and feels like an authentic family restaurant. I don't like taking pictures of my food as it gets in the way of fully being present and enjoying the experience so go see it and taste it for yourselves. I recommend it.”

Everything else was wonderful, including the drinks. It’s very intimate inside, but as the restaurant fills up it gets quite loud. Fuji & Vi's Pizza 950 East Colorado BlvdSuite 203, Pasadena Pizza • $$
950 East Colorado BlvdSuite 203, Pasadena

“This is one of my favorite pizza places now. The photo gallery in their website totally does the pizza justice. It is as good as it photographs! I never had Detroit-style pizza. I don't take part in the Great Pizza Debate with regional styles vying for Best Pizza Ever. Pizza is either good or it's average. The flavors and textures between cheese, crust and sauce are either balanced and each component delicious, or the magic just doesn't happen. Whenever I try thick, rectangular pizza slices I'm always disappointed in either sauce, cheese, or crust. I always hoped that pizza would taste like these slices. This pizza is the paradigm of what a thick square slice of pizza should be-- a sauce that is deliciously balanced between sweet, tangy, and savory-- the perfect intermediary between cheese and carbs. Speaking of carbs, a nice thick crust, just doughy enough to feel your teeth sink into, but with the edges perfectly carmelized to support the slice as it makes its way to your pizza pie-hole. The cheese was-- well, cheese, but cheese that goes all the way to the edge of the crust, caramelized to a deep golden brown against the pie pan. On this maiden visit, we tried both the Margherita and the Biggio. The Biggio is their version of a meat lover's pizza-- pepperoni, Italian sausage, ham, and bacon. The ham and bacon, however, lent a smoky flavor -- almost too barbecue-ish -- for a non-bbq pizza. I know this is Detroit pizza but it was almost a little too un-Italian to us. The Margherita pizza, on the other hand, was crave-worthy. The cheese, sauce, and crust converged into a balance of flavor -- sweet, savory, and tangy, as well as texture -- doughy, crispy, the cheesy stretchiness, the caramelized edges.... I thought this slice was pizza, pure and simple, delicious in its simplicity. Even the tomato slices seemed to be cut the right thickness. I got ours to-go and tried calling ahead-- several times. No go, so I had to order when I got there. The pizzaria (suite #203) lives on the second floor of a two story mini-mall, overlooking the street-side dining lanes on Colorado. The parking lot is also on the second floor which is convenient, the entrance of which is on Mentor, just south of Colorado. Our order took 20 minutes to prepare-- well worth the wait. We also ordered a Caesar salad. Their Caesar was a mix of iceberg and romaine and was fine. Just know that their Caesar salads are tossed-- a dealbreaker for some if you're not into lifeless salads. Just remember this if you're ordering to-go and have to drive a ways before digging in. There is no soda fountain in the restaurant. Beverages are canned. After trying their pizza I appreciate this. I also liked how their menu is simple-- there are just two salads offered and most importantly their pizza, but really, their pizza is all you'll really need. Detroit or otherwise, it's just really good pizza.”

“This is a small but filled of warmth restaurant. You need to wait in line for a while but is quick. The ramen here is authentic and the soup flavor is pretty nice and rich. I like their teriyaki chicken wings, it tasted sooo great. The gyoza has 8 pieces but not expensive. They have three flavors of ramen and you can choose the quantity of meat. Also they have thin and thick noodles can choose. The service here is friendly and serving speed is fast. The atmosphere here is warm and delicate. Great!I stumbled into this small ramen shop by chance. There are only three types, clear tonkotsu, heavy tonkotsu and spicy miso. However, the soup is great, rich and not too salty, and the meat is very smooth and tender but not greasy. I ordered the teriyaki chicken wings. Very, very recommended! The skin is very crispy, the meat is super soft and tender! The fried dumplings are average but not very generous. The service and environment are pretty good!”

If you want an exceptional restaurant experience, old school, like you find in places on the East Coast or in Europe this is it. Honored reservations, professional hosts and wait staff, and food consistently created with excellence and pride. I've tried a few different dishes - all fantastic- but their filet mignon is the best I've every had, and worth every penny. (Better steak than from the New York Grill in Tokyo and just as good as anything I've ever had at Peter Lugers). I also like that the tip is included in the bill. “I recently dined at Gale's, an Italian restaurant recommended by a friend. We made reservations for a party of 6 a week in advance, and the restaurant was accommodating and promptly seated us upon arrival. Our waiter served us bread with oil and vinegar as we perused the menu. We ordered a total of 13 items, and requested the dishes to be brought in courses, which the waiter happily obliged. For starters, we enjoyed the flavorful Mussels in white wine sauce, which paired perfectly with the bread. The Prosciutto and Melon provided a simple yet satisfying protein option, while the Carpaccio with goat cheese impressed us with its thinly sliced meat and complementary flavors. Moving on to the salad courses, the Roasted Beet Salad and Rustic Caesar Salad were both refreshing and well-balanced.The pasta dishes were a highlight of our meal. The Rotini Bolognese featured a rich Italian meat sauce, while the Pasta al Forno delighted us with its creamy meat sauce and cheese. The Portobello Ravioli, stuffed with crab and shrimp in a cream sauce with wild mushrooms, was a standout dish that left us wanting more. Each pasta dish was bursting with flavor and paired excellently with our wine selection. Overall, Gale's provided a delightful dining experience with delicious food and attentive service.Towards the conclusion of our meal, we indulged in the 13th and final course—a generously portioned pizza that satisfied our group of 6 adults. This delightful creamy white pizza, topped with mushrooms and olives, boasted a thin crust with toppings evenly distributed on every slice. Our experience at Gale's was undeniably exceptional. The waiter's precise timing between courses enhanced our enjoyment of each dish. An additional highlight was the reasonable $20 cooking fee, and the added touch of live music on Friday evenings.A standout feature for me was the presentation of fresh dishes and utensils with each course, elevating the dining experience. In summary, I enthusiastically recommend Gale's as a warm and inviting spot for genuine, home-cooked meals that evoke a sense of dining among loved ones.”

“Went for Valentine’s Day dinner… keep in mind that most “holiday” meals with a set menu are generally inflated in costs. But showcase the “best of…” the restaurants offerings. In this case the food was tasty…IF you have the stomach capacity of a 4 year old. You know those fancy restaurants that have one or two bites of food and some swirled sauces on the plate for presentation… welp, this was a version of that.Portions were ridiculously small almost angry worthy. The food quality and flavor is good but cmon, 4 pieces of tofu? In an Italian restaurant?Beet salad with literally one slice of beet and 1.5 bites of cabbage? It was like getting served after dinner mint sized portions for your actual meal.Server was nice, I’d give a 4 out of 5 since he did not follow up at all after the initial order or check on drinks.Oh and an automatic 20% gratuity on the check. All in all the food is tasty, service is good by today’s lower standards, but the price to value ratio is -5 starsBut hey if you’re on a diet, this is the place to go!!! 5 bites and your whole meal is done!!Might be worth a chance to try again on a regular menu and dining evening…we’ll see”

“Hands down some of the best Thai Food I've had throughout NorCal and SoCal. While I regret being so damn full every time I leave, I can confidently say I've enjoyed everything I've had. 5/5 - Pad See Ew Flavorful, great portions, and came out piping hot. They serve the spicy vinegar with it but you don't even need it, even when you get to the last 25%. 4.8/5 - Kwan's Pad Thai Girlfriend got this, was great. With or without lime, the flavor comes through and is delicious. Noodles were cooked well and when you take a bite with some Papaya Salad? Immaculate. 4.5/5 - Papaya Salad Yummy and spicy. No complaints here. 4/5 - Fried Shrimp Roles Damn good and just the right amount of crunchy. Portion size was quite generous too. 5/5 - Panang Curry SO GOOD. Not too sweet, not too savory and comes with just the right amount of rice. I got it with chicken but I'm curious how the other meat options would taste. My mouth is drooling a bit thinking about it. 4.5/4 - Chicken Satay Yum. Good with or without the peanut (?) like sauce. Chicken had a nice bite and was very soft on the inside. Comes on skewers so be careful not to stab your mouth as you inhale these. Longan Drink Hard to rate a drink but it was yummy. Not too sweet and had a good taste to it. A little pricey for how much you get but I'd say it was pretty worth. Service was pretty good with the staff being very attentive and coming around asking if you needed anything or had any questions. There was a family that obviously never had eaten Thai food before and it was sweet to see the server being very friendly with an explanation on the items. Definitely recommend coming here for a meal.”

“First time dining in at Lunasia Pasadena and it won't be our last! We attended an event at the Pasadena convention center on 3/9/24. We walked around to find a good place for dinner and Yelp guided us to. Lunasia. We checked in and got on the waitlist. A few minutes later, we were greeted and got seated. It was nice to not have to wait for a while as the restaurant seemed busy. We placed our order online and not long after, our food started to arrive. Everything was delicious! We ordered a lot! Shumai, hargow, seafood pan fried noodles, salt and pepper suid, salt and pepper pork chops, orange chicken, shrimp eggrolls, pork soup dumplings, deep fried chicken wings, pork puff and sesame red bean balls. Everything was tasty and delicious! How you expect some food to be crunchy, they were crunchy! Those that are supposed to be moist and juicy, they were! The flavors of each item were on point! Can't stop talking about how good the food was. Prices are comparable to others. Servings were good portions. Service was friendly and efficient. The staff worked as a team and they took care of everyone that needed anything. The ambiance was also great. Modern and clean. They also have an upstairs so they can accommodate large groups. They are located in Pasadena on Colorado blvd. We parked at PCC for $15 and it was worth it. It was close to a mall and other restaurants. If you haven't tried Lunasia and you love shumai, you have to try this place bc you will love everything about it!”

“This is our go to spot in the neighborhood when I crave that comforting noodle soup. The bone broth is why I keep coming back here. You just can’t find this anywhere else - the richness and depth of the slow-cooked flavor (apparently 36 hours according to their website). Plus the chewy noodles and fall-off-the-bone braised oxtails, what’s not to love??My husband’s go-to is loco moco. He said it’s one of the best he’s ever had. And they do not skimp out on the portion here! I also tried Khao soi over LNY as one of their specials. The flavor was on point but still I prefer the classic bone broth. They offer their famous broth to-go as well and I get that sometimes so I can enjoy at home later in the week.Service is always warm and friendly. Interior is Southeast Asia flair with a modern touch. Overall the price is on the higher end but imo it’s totally worth it!”

Overall the sushi & food selection for AYCE is plentiful. The quality is great for all you can eat and for the price it’s worth it. You got three rounds & for premium you get also one round of their premium dishes. As compared to “Yes Sushi” back when they had AYCE, it’s just a tad below that quality. I base it off the fried squid legs which were very chewy and a few other items overall the sushi quality was great. The atmosphere is also pretty great and roomy.I took my family and we got a majority of the appetizers and sashimi, but only a handful of rolls. “STEPH JUDGEMENT: A casual, comfortable bar with weekend happy hour FTW! We'd been to the Blind Donkey in downtown Long Beach a few times but had no idea there were other locations. We'd come out of an art show at the Armory nearby and wanted to grab a drink and a snack in the area before heading back. While wandering around, I happened to spot their sign down a side street and we decided to investigate. The ambiance was open and inviting, with many windows letting in the sunshine--very different from the Long Beach location, which is cool but underground. There were a bunch of fun and interesting signs and items on the walls, and they also had a parklet outside. It was fairly busy on a Sunday afternoon--the people perhaps drawn in by their weekend Happy Hour, but their prices seemed reasonable overall anyway. We decided to sit at the bar and I got an old fashioned and the hubby a whiskey sour, and we decided to share a grilled cheese sandwich. Everything was excellent, especially the sandwich, which was pressed panini-style and served with pickle chips that were an unexpected and awesome accompaniment--the little zing of acid really livened up the cheese and bread. The bartenders were cool, and it was a pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon. We wouldn't hesitate to return the next time we're in the area.”

We did make reservations for this particular occasion (my birthday) on a Tuesday evening, just in case Celestino was busy. Here's the rundown of what we ordered: a. Linguine with clams b. Chicken parmigiana c. Lobster tail with pasta/linguine (one of that night's special) d. Penne a la vodka I also ordered a Ciao Bella which is one of their signature mixed drinks. And I have to say, "WHAT A HIT! WE'RE COMING BACK TO CELESTINO!!!" Antonio was our waiter, and he was marvelous. He was knowledgeable of all the specials, and he was genuinely friendly and jokey -- if there is such a word. Overall, the restaurant's atmosphere was clean, moderately quiet, and classy. “We came in on a Sunday evening for a small birthday celebration and we had a great time. We booked it for 7 adults but the person who rsvp forgot we had 2 babies with us, but they were able to accommodate our group. There was a wedding booked inside, we were sat outside in their lovely patio, it's a very pretty patio and there's space heaters everywhere. In the quest to be media / tech savvy they have 4 separate QR code menus and they do not link to each other, so there is a drink menu, a dinner menu, a hookah menu and one other menu. That was a bit confusing at first, since everyone initially started off wit ha different menu. But we got the hang of it. it's a pretty big menu, we ordered a combo platter for 4 people and another combo platter for 2 people and a vegetarian sampler. The 4 and 2 people combos are same just sized differently. They come out on enormous metal platter that is placed on a pedestal on your table. The platters came with steak and chicken breast kabobs and then also ground beef and ground chicken kabobs as well (lule? koobideh?) they were pretty juicy and flavorful, they only came with like 2 tiny garlic toums but you can and should request more. Oh and it also comes with like hella pita breads. The rice soaks up the meat juices from the platter and is bomb af. We took home 2 boxes of food, they don't skimp. The alcoholic drinks are kinda disappointing, like the cocktails are all under powered and watered down low on alcohol, but the fruity drinks taste spectacular as a fruit juice drink but not as a cocktail. the quarantini (their take espresso/coffee martini ) is just watered down and doesnt taste like anything. Either get bottles of wine or hard alcohol don't get the cocktails. If you're sitting on the outside patio do be aware that they have hookah service out here, so if you're not down with that you should sit inside. they have live music and dancing as well (we had a senior citizens dinner due to the kids, so we missed it, but I rememeber it being a good time the last time we saw it.) Good spot wouldn't mind returning at all.”
