Kwan Kitchen Reviews
Time for Thai! Just south of Old Town, Kwan Kitchen is a local gem. Quality ingredients, friendly & attentive service, something for everyone on the menu. Pineapple fried rice is not on the menu but they made it for us. Delicious! Small to medium size dining room; reservations recommended; casual vibe; moderate noise level; can get very busy; very popular especially among students from Cal Tech, ArtCenter, Fuller, etc. Limited free parking lot; moderately priced; good value; takeout...read full review

Kwan Kitchen is a popular Thai restaurant known for its flavorful and fresh dishes at reasonable prices. Despite being newly opened and relatively small, it maintains a neat, simple, and clean environment that attracts a steady stream of customers. The portions are generous, and the food is highly regarded, though some dishes can be a bit sweet.
The menu features a variety of popular Thai dishes, including the delicious green curry and the sweet and savory pork belly. The Pad See Ew is a customer favorite, praised for its flavor and large portion size, while the Pad Thai is excellent, with well-cooked noodles and a bright flavor. The Papaya Salad is both yummy and spicy, and the Fried Shrimp Rolls are perfectly crunchy and generously portioned. Customers have also highlighted the Panang Curry, especially with chicken, for its balanced and mouthwatering flavor, and the tender and flavorful Chicken Satay. Even the Longan Drink is noted for its good taste, despite being a bit pricey.
The restaurant is very attentive to takeout orders, packing food well with double wrapping in aluminum foil and plastic wrap to keep it hot. Many customers, especially visitors from abroad, found the food to be super delicious and reminiscent of Bangkok. The friendly staff greets guests warmly and is helpful with menu questions, including spice levels rated from 1 to 5. Customers can enjoy their meal with a variety of options, including fried dumplings, tom yum soup with veggies and shrimp, and entrees like pad see ew and pad Thai, which reheated well. Parking can be tight due to high customer volume, but the overall experience makes Kwan Kitchen a highly recommended spot for Thai cuisine lovers. Many look forward to returning to try the very popular curry.
