“If you haven't been to Basin141, you’re missing out! Their happy hour is hands-down one of the best around—the prices are unbeatable for the quality you get. The food was absolutely amazing and the drinks were delicious, but what really set the experience apart was the service. Shareen was incredible; she took my order and consistently checked in to make sure I had everything I needed. She truly made the visit perfect. I’ll definitely be back!“

“Best pub in the Altadena area. It is a family run business, and really, a more traditional "public house." Not too many places like this around! Guiness and other European ales on tap. Nice selection of wines too. Say hi to Judah, Gail & family and help support Altadena!“

“Its been a long time establishment in the community catering to its devoted clientele, especially to its hispanic and LGBTQ community. As recently as last Friday night, the Silver Platter has prevailed in its effort to provide an outlet of entertainment and appreciation for the community that it supports.
They've upgraded their environment and at one time also provided valet parking, however, with the current stringent limited parking availability, it's been difficult to accommodate and support this historic bar; very much worth a visit though. With the support of those who know this bar well, they should be commended to continue to support a mainstay of L.A.
It's been a while since I posted the above review. It's January 31, 2026. The Silver Platter, subject to being evicted and demolished should definitely be relocated. Its historic value and undeniably a dive bar, provides an ambiance that is unique to its community. Those that can't appreciate the need and value of this establishment in serving the community are too quick to criticize its patrons and deficiencies. This place is a haven to many. It exists to enjoy a cold beer, enjoy the music, people watch and have some fun. We should do what we can to keep the Silver Platter thriving!“

“The Greyhound Bar is my all time favorite local, neighborhood bar! The drinks are fantastic and the food is delicious! Literally the best “bar food” in LA! All the bartenders are friendly and make it a very welcoming place to hangout. I love running into the regulars here. The owner is also very cool, friendly and welcoming! They always accommodate my modified order of the Greyhound Burger into the best vegetarian version, I have yet to find a better vegetarian cheeseburger in LA. Also, the best and raddest bartender here is Iliana, beautiful inside and out! Highly recommend this place. Especially if you want to catch a game here or just get a great burger and drink!“

“4.5 stars - We were bar-hopping in the neighborhood after the LA Beer Fest and found this gem. Massive space, including a covered outdoor area. Games like ping pong and such. Reasonable prices. Friendly bartender, even though they were quite busy. Highly recommend if you are in the neighborhood. I’ll be back!“

“A great bar located in the heart of Old Town, offering an exciting selection of specialty cocktails alongside all the classic drinks you’d expect. I highly recommend exploring their cocktail menu—there’s plenty to choose from, and the drinks are well-crafted.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t try the food because the kitchen had already closed by the time I arrived. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and lively without being overly noisy, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a drink with friends.
My only suggestion would be to add one or two more TVs opposite the bar area for a better viewing experience. Other than that, it’s a fantastic place—high five 🙌 for the cocktails!“
