“We came for dinner and we got a fresh shirako with ponzu, a bento box and Premium Sushi Sets. Felt like the nigiris for the sushi set was just ok, the rice was a bit too hard and not flavorful. One of the nigiri piece I had also had a little fish bone in it…Loved the Uni and the fresh Shirako here. The uni we had was from Canada.I had a bit higher expectations for this spot since I been hearing lot of good things, but it didn’t meet my expectations.“
“First time visitor. Absolutely happy with food, service and clean environment. Passing through Pasadena looking for lunch, lucked up on this eatery, caddy corner from Pasadena City College. Limited free parking in the rear and limited parking on the street. Food tasty and freshly prepared. Our server Aida was super attentive. I believe anything ordered would be satisfying. Hope to return there one day.Parking: Limited“
“I cannot cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. First time here, recommended by others. It is pricey as it is a steakhouse. We had reservations and got there a little early and they were able to seat us. Every single person we came into contact with was absolutely amazing. Friendly and helpful. The bartender Mitch was amazing and recommended some amazing drinks. Our server and everyone that assisted her was absolutely amazing. Beyond friendly and gave recommendations that did not disappoint. Very clean facility. Restrooms were nice, small parking lot available and street parking. Highly recommend and will gladly return.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes“
“Absolutely loved Oba! Came for my daughter's birthday and the service was amazing, the food was fresh and delicious, and everyone that works there is so nice and kind! My favorite dishes were the chirashi bowl, jalapeño yellowtail, garlic noodles, sashimi plate, shrimp tempura and red curry! It's so great to be able to pick from a Japanese and Thai menu! Will definitely be back and highly recommend!!“
“I came through because I have walked through this little alley with friends and always see this tiny little cat-logo sushi shop. I came by on a whim expecting some fast foody simple rolls which would have been fine. But I was surprised when the salmon roll came out, and it was immediately obvious the fish was really nice quality and the roll looked as good as some of my favorite sushi restaurants. Very impressed!“
“Ordered a delivery and was very happy with the food. I liked the vegetable and cucumber-avocado Maki. Didn't love the miso because it was lacking the miso flavor and the seaweed, it reminded me of meat stock (I hope it was vegetarian!), but all the other things were good.“
“The atmosphere is really good! How they great you at the door is awesome. They have really quick sushi rolls and the presentation is beautiful. I only rated the food a four because they recycle a lot of rolls what I mean by this is the menu is basically all the same with one change to a roll here and there. I think more flavor options and diversifying the menu would serve wonders. It wouldn’t keep me from this place, the classics are always good“
“Apparently the spot in Pasadena!! I was meeting up with some clients for work at Caltech, and they recommended this spot on the corner. It was just a few blocks away from campus, and seemed to be pretty popular with students on a given weekday. Inside, our server got us to our tables and welcomed us with water and miso soup. She was super friendly and gave us plenty of time to order :). I went with the katsu lunch combo, which also came with california rolls, and mac salad. It tasted great, with the katsu being very crunchy and the mac salad being the perfect complement to the meal. I thought the California rolls were great too!“
“Wonderful service and great sushi with buttery fish. However, think the rice could be slightly better! I’ve eaten here multiple times and the quality has always been quite consistent. Also get takeout from here many times - see picture for takeout.“
“As many times as I've eaten here and for take outs, it has been consistent with the freshness, flavor, and service. I had foods for take out for my mum's birthday. She doesn't like to leave for many places so I'm bringing the food to her. I got her the ichima roll, rainbow roll, and the yellowtail delight. And for myself I got the agedashi tofu, baked green mussels and the baked salmon roll. Everything was packed very well and it was still warm when I got home. Everything was delicious!! I would highly recommend their food. It's fresh and delicious!! Service was excellent. They got it all right!!“
“The truffle toro is amazing, so is the yellowfin tuna signature roll that was recommended by several staff members. Service is also outstanding, every employee was awesome and the drinks were outstanding. I couldn’t even take a good picture of the food because it was so tasty and I was wolfing it down. I almost forgot, the oysters are super fresh and their presentation was great!“
“A solid all you can eat sushi spot for the money. Lots of room, but it can get pretty busy.We did the regular all you can eat but next time I’ll get the premium. Overall the sushi & food selection for AYCE is plentiful. The quality is great for all you can eat and for the price it’s worth it. You got three rounds & for premium you get also one round of their premium dishes. As compared to “Yes Sushi” back when they had AYCE, it’s just a tad below that quality. I base it off the fried squid legs which were very chewy and a few other items overall the sushi quality was great. The atmosphere is also pretty great and roomy.I took my family and we got a majority of the appetizers and sashimi, but only a handful of rolls. The roll quality was also really good.I’d definitely come back here again to get my “AYCE” sushi fix. Also if you didn’t know “AYCE” stands for “All you can eat” & I just found that out a week ago & thought it was a brand. Either way, a great spot to visit for sushi in Pasadena.“
“The sushi was pretty good but the service was outstanding. The young man that helped us actually knew that I was bringing a couple of kids that want to see the conveyor belt in action so he made sure that the chefs put the orders on the conveyor belt so they could experience taking the plates off of the belt and enjoying the sushi. I thought that was really thoughtful especially since the conveyor belts are more of decoration now than actually active use. I forgot his name, but really great service!“
“Chef Hide is amazing chef who really cares about quality of the fish and presentation. I highly recommend him for your next catering event as I've been eating his sushi for over 20 years and it's hard to find authentic sushi catering.“
“I went with my family for dinner. Our server, Marcelo, was very attentive about our needs and wants. The food was very tasty, but it took a while for all of the food to come out. My grandpa’s beef teriyaki was also all gristle, very tough and chewy. However, they brought out a new one free of charge for us that was much better. Overall it seems like they’re still getting their footing, but still just as solid as the previous location.“
“We had a wonderful date night dinner here before catching a play at the Pasadena Playhouse nearby! Their fish is fresh and rolls are creative and flavorful, service is beyond excellent, and we loved the wall art and the vibe! The vibe is so hip and welcoming here - we were so pleasantly greeted and immediately seated. Their decor is super fun! Tons of wall art - paintings and sculptures and all sorts of odds and ends - fantastically entertaining! Staff are all wonderful - we had 3 different people check on us to make sure we were happy and well taken care of. We ordered 3 rolls to share: the Spicy Scallop Roll, Red Dragon Roll, and Snow White Roll. The Snow White Roll was my absolute fave (maybe ever!!) - it has crab, avocado, and cream cheese in, with baked tilapia on top! So unique - first time I've ever seen a roll with baked tilapia and that's one of my fave fishes - it was excellent! Flavorful and soft and a nice sauce on top - highly recommend. The Red Dragon Roll was delish too - comes with spicy tuna and cucumber inside and fresh tuna and avocado outside - again, great flavor combos and awesome presentation. The Spicy Scallop Roll was my least fave - but only bc of personal preference and nothing to do with the restaurant. Scallops are always hit or miss for me and I can take them or leave them. This roll had a nice flavor but I don't care for the raw scallops. Their prices here are on par with the area and the quality justifies it totally. They have a Yelp check in offer of one free small hot sake per table. They have patio seating, booths and tables inside, as well as seating at the sushi bar. The location is wonderful - very walkable with lots of nearby attractions. Lots of street parking (unlimited time after 6pm) and also paid garages in the area. We walked over before getting dessert and then seeing a play nearby - a great idea for an awesome date night!“
“Yes Sushi was a lovely experience. My friend and I went around 6:15-6:30 which is the perfect time because it was only my table and other table being served. First you are greeted by lovely little women who are more than willing to answer any questions you have about the menu. My friend ordered the Sunkissed roll which was good but I love my sushi a bit more loaded and saucy so I got the Dynamite Roll and it was perfect. I can rarely eat one roll in one sitting but I devoured this one. Delicious and filling! Ambiance was simple and nice as well. Service was fast and servers were kind, checking up on us a few times were different workers. No complaints, can't wait to return“
“So so good! From the spicy tuna, to the crispy tuna rice, fried tempura , miso soup, spicy edamame , yum and more yum! The service is good, but expect to wait, they can get super busy. Fortunately, you can get in the waitlist via Yelp..big plus! The place is nice and airy and feels relaxed yet vibrant!“
“The mediocre reviews here are surprising. This is a great neighborhood spot with generous cuts of high quality fish. Service can be slow if they're busy, but it's not for lack of trying. We've ordered take out a few times and dined in once; it's been consistent each time. Fair prices, too. Just solid all-around. Sometimes, I wonder if US customers just can't appreciate simple, high quality sushi. After Komasa closed, we've searched all over for a good replacement, and Noda + Noshi are the best we've found in terms of quality and value.“
“Teriyaki chicken is always tasty, specially when I order it without teriyaki sauce. The beef has a unique taste texture for me , but it's pretty good also. California rolls and baked salmon rolls are tasty as well. The prices here are pretty reasonable and decent size portions. I usually get my order to go but the place is usually nice and clean. Will definitely continue to make it a routine spot !“
“This food place is awesome! I have visited the Caltech area for one week and fell in love with this place! Seriously, the food is always fresh and the salads are amazing! The service is pretty fast and the people were very friendly and helpful. You get a good variety of choice! I will definitely come back here. Also, EarthquakeSim the YouTuber was there! ?Parking: Plenty of parking space“
“The food is great!! Been going to Shoguns for 24 years now! Have seen all the ongoing changes to the restaurant but the food always was great! Love the shrimp, teriyaki chicken & steak, fried rice. We like to add the chile paste to the pink sauce The best servers are Rika & Stephanie! They're very friendly & welcoming. Chefs Anton, Daniel, Suki & Tri are awesome chefs. Food favorable“
“I've honestly never had a bad experience here and am a hugeeeee sushi lover! Their rolls are delicious and there is a wide variety of them. Love the special truffle sushi roll! Service has always been friendly and fast. Good to come here if you want a casual, quick sushi experience + all the yummy appetizers.“
“agree with most of the reviews, the atmosphere is really strange, the place feels filthy and the vibes from the servers and chefs are weird, the miso soup had no sea weed or tofu, the beer was not really cold BUT the sushi was very good, so I'll still give it 4 stars for that, good to visit solo and for sushi only, but nothing for a date night“
“Taking my adult daughter's birthday. We had a blast! The food here is always magnificent.Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options.Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly.Parking: Tokyo wako validates parking. This was Paseo Pasadena Mall underground garage.Wheelchair accessibility: Elevators, and escalators available.Dietary restrictions: Plenty of options for people with dietary restrictions.“
“Been here many times and can say that food is pretty consistent. I've sat in the bar, the lounge, outside, inside, but I recommend sitting at the sushi bar. The service is direct and instant, not so much for the rest of the place. The staff has its ups and downs, I mean people are people, so ymmv there. Weekdays and early evenings provide the best ambiance. I try to stay away from opinions on the food since taste is subjective and I'm not Elmer Dills or Jonathan Gold. If you have no idea who either one of them are you have probably TicToc'd or Shorted most of your dining experiences. I do believe the cleanliness has slipped and there is not the attention to detail there once was. It's not filthy or anything but they used to keep it spotless and the staff and management were always on top of things. Overall Sushi Roku is a good option for the area. Good sushi is expensive and I'm willing to pay for it however I may consider other options for a nice night out. I've moved out of the area and driven back for this place but I'll consider other spots next time.“
“This won’t be the best sushi you’ve ever had, but surprisingly good sushi for the price point that it is at.Nothing fancy here, but good quality cuts of the classic salmon, tuna, or yellowtail sushi with some rolls. Affordable and tasty sushi for what it’s worth. Don’t need to spend a lot of money like a high end spot to get full and be happy.“
“Everything is BEYOND EXPECTATION. Found this nearby restaurant after running errands. End up being the best meal I’ve ever had in a while. Sashimis are FRESH and thick. Baked rolls are amazing, probably the best roll I’ve had in my life (I’ve been to Japan twice so I know what good stuff taste like) Highly recommend this place. It’s a must go in Pasadena.“
