“Sushi Kisen continues to punch well above its weight and it is 1/3 the price for the same quality as some of the now outrageously expensive sushi places in LA.For about $120, our omakase today included about 10 courses and 2 additional pieces we selected at the end. The quality of the nigiri is self-evident, particularly with the chutoro and the Nemuro uni. Another particular favorite was shiro-ebi. The chef confirmed that it is from Toyama. It should be mentioned that some pieces are ever so slightly on the saltier side (I confirmed that they do season with a drop of salt on some pieces), which I ended up liking but it might be a surprise to some. Extra points for the shari, which was flavorful on its own without taking away from the fish. I also highly recommend asking the chef if they have any seasonal items. We were very pleasantly surprised by our tsuika orders. When I do not have the time to enjoy an omakase at the bar, I would recommend their chirashi bowls.“

“Came here for sushi but didn’t expect them to have omakase as well so I tried. The Set B omakase was a 14-course. All the pieces are listed on the menu. The fishes were great quality for this price. Sushi rice was not on par with michelin star omakase but it doesn’t make sense to compare anyway.Other dishes are pretty good. Rolls were pretty fresh. I like the oyakodon the most. The tonkutsu one was sweet and delicious. They give generous portion too.Service was good and quick. Many people at lunch time. Japanese vibes decor. Parking is free.“

“We arrived at around 6:30pm on a Saturday and found it to be pretty empty. They seemed short staffed. Food was slow getting to us. A little pricier vs other Japanese restaurants. Menu lacks pictures for easy ordering. Bento boxes start at $20. Unaju Donburi portion was small for $24.Parking: Entrance to the restaurant from the rear parking lot is available.“

“We came randomly on a weekday night for karaoke. It was about $48/hr for just karaoke. The walls are not soundproof...like at all, so you can definitely be heard when people walk by. But hey, be loud and proud here. Overall it was pretty fun and does the job.“

I tried the tomato soup base and it has some salmon, a shrimp, and mussel added in. Very flavorful. The crab soup base was spicy and added additional 1/2 crab. Service good. Outdoor seatings ok on a cool night. Very decent Shabu for this price. We will come back!“

“Pleasant surprise! Hadn't expected to come here, but here we were. Clean, modern, nice ambience. Helpful service. We ordered the Chirashi bowl, a deluxe Chirashi bowl, and an unagi bowl. Chirashi bowls had very good quality fish. My wife was impressed with the sushi rice that wasn't overpowering with vinegar. Our grandson's unagi bowl came with soup, salad, mixed tempura, and two large eel filets. A huge meal, much of which got taken home. Hidden gem!“

“Great food for the price. Combo set meals provide a large variety at a reasonable price. Because it's such a small place, service is pretty slow, but for the price and food, it's worth it.Parking: As with any downtown area, parking is a hassle. Best bet is to find side street parking, but it's generall pretty packed. There are smaller parking lots, but they are for other businesses in the area.“

“My coworker and I ordered the filet hibachi, and it was incredibly tender and delicious. The rest of the food was great too—the meal came with vegetables, a few shrimp, white rice, and I purchased a side of udon noodles and upgraded to the fried rice. I would recommend coming here if you're itching for some hibachi, and all of the food I ordered was fantastic. Overall, my experience was on par with what I'd expect from a typical hibachi restaurant. The filet was even better than expected. I would note that the chef was nice and did the stereotypical tricks, but was a bit uninspired (may have been due to the fact that only 4 of us were at the table, and 2 of the customers were not paying much attention). The prices are a bit steep, but the filet is worth it. My coworkers had suggested the filet, and now I know why!“
