Yesterday, my best friend, her sister and I drop by for lunch. We ordered mohinga, coconut khao soi, paratha, opo squash tempura and samosa. The food was delicious. This is the 5th Burmese restaurant I've been to and one of the best. My best friend and her sister were born and raised in Burma. They speak Burmese and are very knowledgeable about Burmese food. If I'm in the area, I will definitely drop by again.
Shwe Taung Rice Bowl and Burmese Restaurant was a very pleasant surprise. Neither my wife nor I had ever eaten Burmese food, so we didn’t know what to expect. The restraint is small and hidden in a tiny strip mall. There is a small parking lot, but ample street parking.

Shwe Taung Rice Bowl and Burmese Restaurant is a small, family-owned restaurant in a tiny strip mall with a small parking lot. The menu is extensive and full of exotic and enticing dishes. Tasty food includes Coconut Chicken Khao Soi, Shan Noodles, Mixed Tempura Fries, garlic noodles, chicken biryani, tea leaf salad, and mohinga. The Royal Tea Leaf Salad is a crunchy salad thanks to the roasted legumes, and the roasted tofu in the garlic noodles is a standout. Each dish is wonderful with unique mixtures of spices—flavorful but not too hot. The service is friendly and professional, with a very polite head chef who helped with recommendations. The environment is very welcoming, with a simple and calm atmosphere. There can be a slight wait due to being short-staffed, but it is well worth the wait. This is a delightful introduction to Burmese cuisine for first-timers.
