“This quaint Sushi restaurant in Duarte offers traditional sushi and Japanese dishes that are fresh and savory. The crew takes a healthy afternoon (siesta) break before resuming operations in the afternoon. There was one waiter, who held his own. Although an order was mixed up, he quickly remedied it. He was always smiling and thanking the customer, a major plus in service. The menu could use with added hot tea varieties and I recommend some brown rice for those customers watching their glucose intake. Other than that, this is a great place to enjoy a savory meal!“
“Went back this week and glad I did. Ordered a bento box, lots of tasty food and definitely worth the money. There was enough teriyaki for two meals. I'm accustomed to a different cut of meat for beef teriyaki so was surprised but enjoyed the flavor. LOVED the super crunchy not greasy tempura! I ordered to go so didn't each for about 15 mins. Tempura was crunchy to the last bite of the last piece! Also had the spicy salmon sushi, which I found quite good. I'll definitely go back and try other menu items. Staff was welcoming and kind. The sushi chef greeted each person as they arrived and thanked each when they left. Great service!“
“My friend recommended this market to me. It is easy to miss because the entrance is in the back. The kids like ordering the fresh seafood and although the store is small, they have a good selection of rolls along with other Japanese items. My two favorite things to get are the avocado roll which has been consistently creamy and delicious and the chicken karaage that has a fantastic dipping sauce. If you like mochi ice cream, they have a brand named “Mochidoki” that has flavors like Chocolate Habanero and birthday cake. There are also some cute items such as stationary and pet toys. There is some parking in the back that is shared with Thai Paradise and also parking on the street“
“Sushi Kisen continues to punch well above its weight and it is 1/3 the price for the same quality as some of the now outrageously expensive sushi places in LA.For about $120, our omakase today included about 10 courses and 2 additional pieces we selected at the end. The quality of the nigiri is self-evident, particularly with the chutoro and the Nemuro uni. Another particular favorite was shiro-ebi. The chef confirmed that it is from Toyama. It should be mentioned that some pieces are ever so slightly on the saltier side (I confirmed that they do season with a drop of salt on some pieces), which I ended up liking but it might be a surprise to some. Extra points for the shari, which was flavorful on its own without taking away from the fish. I also highly recommend asking the chef if they have any seasonal items. We were very pleasantly surprised by our tsuika orders. When I do not have the time to enjoy an omakase at the bar, I would recommend their chirashi bowls.“
“Service is a little slow during lunchtime as the kitchen backs up and they get pretty busy...order ahead if you're in a hurry. That said...food is always hot a prepared upon order...portions are great and their garnish and compliments of sides are delicious. Definitely worth the price and the little bit of wait time to get a good meal. Just a cozy little privately-owned business and not a chain. Seating has a small area of tables, so if you are looking to sit down and dine in get there early, no large groups will fit in this cozy little place. There is no table service so you order at the counter and pick up at the counter. Take out is my preference. Had two bento boxes this time...photo attachedParking: Lot is shared with Stater Brothers and other surrounding small businesses so getting a space near the front of their door is hit and miss but parking lot is big enough for this location.“
“Robots are distracting and loud at times and I prefer personal service. Food innovative and delicious. New/trainee waitress hesitant and seemed overwhelmed which allowed for more conversation. Things amiss are easily fixable: owner & staff stepped in, generously compensated and cared for us. The food is well worth it and we will return again & again.“
“The inside is cute, they have books you can read while you wait for food or while dining in. The service here was great, came in with girlfriend and they were very polite and communicative. We had the Pad Thai and the Taste of Philly sandwich. Both meals were good. We also had a Morning Star smoothie each and we devoured them before our meals. They were made with fresh fruit and were very good. Will come back to try other items on menu and especially the smoothies.“
“Decided to try a new place as I’ve been on a hunt for a good local sushi place and wow…….taste, presentation and service get 5 stars from me. Everything we need tried impressed me so much that I can’t wait to go back. The owner is also a seasoned sushi chef and he is there making the sushi which makes a world of difference.Like I said, I found my favorite spot ?“
“Probably the best place I've tried sushi. Large portions and excellent prices. As a fairly big guy, I was pleasantly surprised that I couldn't finish two regular plates. The service is top-notch. My best wishes to this establishment“
“Akasaka is amazing bang for buck if you like hamachi kama (yellowtail collar), it’s perfectly broiled - crispy on the outside and tender and fatty on the inside. Their chirashi bowl is huge with 6 cuts per fish and can serve 2. The fish is good quality and fresh and the tempura bits in the rice adds another layer of texture. I always come here when I’m craving lots of hamachi for a good price“
“Honestly, was amazed at how good the sushi / sashimi was at this place. Didn't expect it from a food hall. WAY better quality tasting food than a more legit mid-level sushi places. Highly recommend coming here just for this. We got another roll to go because it was so good.“
“This small neighborhood restaurant has been around for a very long time. We came here for dinner on a Saturday night and were quickly seated as it was just the two of us. Larger parties had to wait as the restaurant was packed. The service was fast, friendly and efficient. All the waitresses work together so we were well looked after. We ordered the Nigiri Deluxe and their Short Ribs Bento Box special. Thoroughly enjoyed the Nigiri. Plenty of food and a variety of fish was fresh and delicious! The Bento box on the other hand had a variety of different items including sashimi. Everything was good except for the Short ribs. Will definitely be back for the next sushi craving!“
“Food was great.. lots of selection and rarely seen dishes in other yakitori spots. The beef tongue was excellent ??.. highly recommend. Service is great, chef's were fun and engaging. Getting a Reservation is tough, but that's understandable for a location like this. Give it a try if you have a chance.“
“The chef is the same from Wahoo Chaya. So long story short- the sushi is phenomenal as it was prior. I bring my wife and son here all the time and also invite other family members. I order the a la cart cut rolls such as the the albacore roll and the yellow tell. Sometimes I will order it either of them spicy. My wife loves the rainbow roll, baked mussels, and fresh oysters. My son who is two mind you like the temura udon and the rainbow roll. Yes he loves sushi. Usually our bill is around 100 including tip. If we invite others it is more. You will not be disappointed coming here. A true gem.“
“We recommend this place 10000%We live in San Diego, California and we came to Los Angeles to vacation and we were looking for a seafood place and we found this restaurant, which honestly did not disappoint. The service is very excellent from the moment you enter until you leave, everything is very good. The customer service and first impression was phenomenal. The waiter was very friendly and attentive, had very good knowledge of the menu and was very kind to us. The lemonade that my niece ordered is very good and refreshing natural. The seafood we ordered tasted super fresh. The Dynamite roll was my favorite as well as the red aguachile. We were fascinated by everything and this is definitely going to be the first place we come to eat every time we visit Los Angeles!“
“The Bento Box for Lunch was huge! Be prepared with an appetite! Sushi roll was good but not amazing...got the spicy tuna roll with the box and it's was bland. But the rest of food was great! Service was really good and attentive but not in your face or anything. I would definitely go back!“
“Small cozy place definitely a hidden gem, hand rolls are delicious. Don't forget to pair it with a cold beer. Great fun atmosphere, Margaret & Richie are absolutely the best people around.Kid-friendliness: Margaret & Richie are very helpful and will accommodate to your needs.“
“Delicious and Great service. Down to there well kept silverware and Dishes Thank you clean up crew in the Shadows.Kid-friendliness: Anything that lights up a spark on your food makes for a Cool Post.Wheelchair accessibility: Comes with clearance for both,E-scooters and Wheel chairs.“
“Sushi Land has been with my family since young. Staff is the kindest you'll ever meet and the fish is fresher than day. Constant updates with the sashimi . Love this place from the bottom of my heart. Go before the place gets busy. I prefer lunch time personally. I recommend this place completely.“
“This was my very first visit. I am so upset that I have not been here before. I've been depriving myself of their food for so long! The sushi was immaculate. The service was very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is very comfortable and has great vibes.“
“Can't believe it's taken me this long to discover this sushi spot. Sushi and dishes are on point! It's fresh and creative!Service is prompt and polite. The decor is clean, traditional Japanese. There's a small outdoor area. Would definitely be going back. Next time, I want to try their omakase.“
“Excellent authentic Japanese izakaya restaurant. The biggest saba (grilled mackerel) I've ever seen! Huuuuge. I had the katsu - excellent. My daughter had the BBQ beef skirt teriyaki and I tried a piece and it was delicious. Service was awesome too. The couple who I believe own/run the place were super nice and gracious. A big TV with NBA basketball on - what more could you ask for?“
“Great place, reminds me of Japan. Very clean and very friendly staff. The Nigiri Sushi was great and very filling. The Miso was great and the actual tofu chunks were a great sight to see. Definitely a must try and if local I'd be a regular.Arigato Gosaimasu!“
“They have so many yummy dishes here! Way more than expected at a cafe.Highlights of the menu:1. Mini hot pot: Mongolia lamb and Satay beef2. Pork belly skewers3. Lamb skewers4. Beef aorta skewers5. Spicy wonton6. Eel bibimbap7. Short rib with quail egg and tofu8. Stirred beef with quail egg and rice9. Beef bulgogiDrinks:10. Mango pomelo sago11. Oreo brulee matcha12. Mango coconut smoothie“
“Their food is more for connessieurs. For example, their salmon is from Norway. You can taste the ice cold water. It's just different. Of course, these things comes with a higher price tag but not outrageously higher. Service is attentive as it should. Not your normal sushi place if you crave the finer things in life.“
“Convenient and varied lunch options ranging from sushi to bento to onigiri to yakisoba to even udon/ramen/curry! The store is so cute and packs a good amount of groceries for its small size. I wouldn't go grocery shopping there, but I would come for lunch and maybe pick up a few snacks and things to cook dinner that same evening. As for their food, everything was good. I would say Yama Fish Market's fish is way fresher and better tasting though if you only intend on getting raw fish.“
“Found this spot after going to the Van Gogh Experience. They open late and amazingly, their food is delicious. Service is good too - a bit busy at 9pm but we got our food quickly. One thing I have to note is that there's a bunch of napkins on the floor by the kitchen and the staff just walk around them, making the place look unkept. Overall, they are still my go to when I'm in the area.“
“Lotus Kitchen is a delightful addition to LA Myanmar restaurant scene. The flavors of Myanmar truly shine through their dishes, offering a unique and authentic experience. The service here is really friendly, and the ambiance takes me back to Myanmar. The shuffling menu got me really want to check out their facebook page frequently. Recommended!!“
“Tucked in Downtown Monrovia, this small restaurant has really fresh sushi! We visited on a recent Saturday for lunch. Inside has maybe 3-4 seats at the sushi bar, 3 small tables, and a couple tables outdoors were its pet friendly. I got the salmon don and it was fresh and delicious. It comes with miso soup and the best tasting salad dressing I've ever had. We also shared the lime roll, scallops sushi, ono sushi, albacore sushi and miso cod. The roll was only okay, and I definitely preferred the sushi. The miso cod was tender and soft, I felt very healthy eating all the delicious fish. Our waiter was super friendly and nice, it made for a great lunch experience!“
“For the price, the sushi, sashimi, hand rolls and specialty rolls are very good. I wasn't impressed with the Chinese dishes. Many are mainland Chinese style where bones and bone fragments are normal in these dishes, making these hard to eat for someone not used to bite carefully and then spitting out bones in front of guests, etc. It may be acceptable in China and in front of Chinese guests.Parking: May have to park further away during busy meal times. I think it's owned by the same people running the Red 99 Grill bistro on the same block that also draws many customers. Shiki buffet also draws customers and parking close to the restaurant may be difficult during meal times.“
“Went In for lunch with my wife. I had the teriyaki beef lunch special. It came with Miso Soup, small salad, teriyaki beer with steamed rice, and a crispa California roll. Food was good but my only gripe with it was that the steamed rice tasted a bit old and hard. I also asked for spicy Mayo to go with my sushi roll, but I never got it. The waitress didn't really check up on us, but overall the food was pretty good.“
“Had to stop for a quick charge and the sushi came right on time, quick service and delicious sushi. Fair prices as well.Wasn't too packed but i came on a Tuesday at 12~ so I didn't expect a lot of people in there anyway but im sure service would've been quick and on point even with extra traffic.“
“Thank you Sen Sushi!! I was scrolling through Yelp recently to see where I can take my husband for his birthday. Sen sushi's sushi cakes popped up and I knew that's exactly what I wanted. I gave them a call and the lady that was working was very nice and explained to me that I can chose my own rolls and they can form it into a sushi cake for me. Everything was super easy. I even asked if I can bring my own cake toppers and she said it wasn't a problem. I told her the date and time we were coming and it was ready right when we got there. The rolls were delicious and my husband also said the sashimi, uni and oyster was very fresh as well. It was my daughter's first time eating sushi and she loved it. So happy that everything worked out and my husband loved his Rick and Morty Sushi cake. Thank you again Sen Sushi!“
“Delicious and thoughtful dishes. I mainly stick to sushi and wasn't disappointed here. The premium charashi gave generous slices and I appreciated the small chopped ginger and mushroom added to the rice.We tried a variety of fish and it was consistently melt-in-your mouth. I highly recommend the hamachi belly and sea bream - these really stuck out.The veggie tempura was light and balanced (unlike some places that either over batter or cut too thickly), and the agedashi tofu was something I didn't want to share with my partner. This place has an excellent price point for the quality of the fish. I usually eat at a couple spots in Pasadena, but this rivals them. The service was quick and our server was attentive. We will be back!“
“One of my favorite sushi spots in the area. They have great happy hour deals (after 3pm). I especially like the crab hand roll. Great service...it's as if all of the waitstaff teams up to help all of the customers. Always nice and friendly.“
“My wife and I came here on a Saturday night and there were maybe about 3 other tables occupied. There was live music which was great. We didn't see anyone working so we sat ourselves in a booth and patiently waited for someone to take our order. Ended up ordering the botana la palma and ceviche de pescado. About 5-10 minutes later we were informed there were no more fish for the ceviche, so we decided to go with shrimp instead. The service was a bit slow or non existent. Maybe because the restaurant was hosting a paint&sip on the other side and required the waitress' attention. Nonetheless the food was amazing! Seafood tasted fresh and full of flavor. Where it went a bit wrong was when we got our bill. I typically just double the tax for a 20% tip, but didn't realize until afterwards that 1. The tax was off and 2. We got the wrong bill. The botana la palma was $25 and ceviche i believe was around $19, but was charged $25 for sashimi de atun azul. The tax was only $2.49 so our tip was unfortunately lower than intended (sorry, I was tipsy). My fault for not checking, but I was in a rush. Overall, would definitely come back, but will double check my bill.“
“I came here with my family that lives in San Marino. What a gem to have in the neighborhood. Lunch for 7 and everything was consistently delicious. My favorites were the salmon skin salad, regular chawanmushi, and the uni pasta (a special). They have lots of big booths that can fit 8 people.“
“Wanted to let everybody know Sushi in the Box's new location is in the Ranch 99 Market on Golden West in arcadia. They are now located in the food court in the far right hand corner all the way in the back. Their food is excellent and their service is very friendly always served with a smile.“
“Love that this place is quality $$ late night and attentive. Fish is sold high quality and market values for sushi; great for special occasions. Our servers offered wonderful recommendations -- get the Caterpillar ? Roll and Omakasi Sashimi (decadent and worth sharing for 2 if you're not as hungry as I was)! We also got kurasawa (sake) and soft shell crab ? to start! The sauce for the crab was flavorful.Vegetarian options: The Green Village (or something along those lines) veggie roll was delicious. Great tempura prep and nice texture.“
“As many times as I've eaten here and for take outs, it has been consistent with the freshness, flavor, and service. I had foods for take out for my mum's birthday. She doesn't like to leave for many places so I'm bringing the food to her. I got her the ichima roll, rainbow roll, and the yellowtail delight. And for myself I got the agedashi tofu, baked green mussels and the baked salmon roll. Everything was packed very well and it was still warm when I got home. Everything was delicious!! I would highly recommend their food. It's fresh and delicious!! Service was excellent. They got it all right!!“
“This is an amazing family run sushi spot. The chef creates some high class sushi and the service is wonderful. We usually order take out and not dine in and on the weekend be sure to get your order in online early. We usually get the top 4 sampler plater. Great deal! Super yummy food.“
“The lady who runs this joint is so sweet! A wide variety of interesting rolls. My son loves the "Shrimp Lover" roll. I like the "Out of Control" one, although I'm not sure what's on it (the print on their menu is super small). Does this contain bacon? Wow! Anyway, we will be back to try some more!“
“I really enjoyed my meal here. Sushi was really delicious. I highly recommend this plate. Super great. I will come back again here for sure. The jasmine peach green tea is just perfect. I was really satisfied. There was enough tables available to eat and dine in. There is plenty of parking to park your car too.“
“We arrived at around 6:30pm on a Saturday and found it to be pretty empty. They seemed short staffed. Food was slow getting to us. A little pricier vs other Japanese restaurants. Menu lacks pictures for easy ordering. Bento boxes start at $20. Unaju Donburi portion was small for $24.Parking: Entrance to the restaurant from the rear parking lot is available.“
“Been coming here since my first year of college at Mt. Sac!! Me and my friends come here frequently and are always very content with the service. The owner is very sweet and will make sure your visit is as pleasant as possible. Want another plus?? Great prices ;)“
“THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS AND THE STAFF IS SO FRIENDLY AND PROFESSIONAL..FAIR PRICES.Vegetarian options: VEGETABLE TEMPURAParking: LOCATED AT A LARGE SHOPPING CENTER IN COVINA/AZUSA AREAARROW HWY AND AZUSA AV..Kid-friendliness: IT'S A FAMILY ENVIRONMENT AND FEEL FREE TO BRING YOUR KIDS..Wheelchair accessibility: TOTALLY ACCESSIBLE TO WHEEL CHAIRS..“
“This has been my go-to eating spot ever since I was younger, and I have always deeply enjoyed the food and customer service. The workers are always so nice and have been friendly faces. My personal favorite is the chicken and beef plate, since it comes with a good amount of food for the price, and the gyoza. There are seats to sit down and eat, but sometimes due to the busy times, there is not a lot of space. But there are also seats outside that allow more space. Overall, one of my favorite eating places. Good quality for a good price! Check it out.“
“Ordered their Mango Special Roll and a variety of their sushi. In my opinion, the mango roll was pretty good, it had a crunchy inside from the shrimp tempura and a mixture of sweet and savory from the mango inside and salmon on the outside. I would recommend the roll if you like sweet rolls. Overall a pretty special roll. The sushi was okay, their fish to rice portion was a bit off, had way too much rice and too little fish.Price wise is okay, rolls would be a more budget friendly option but if you are looking for fancier options you can definetly try their sushi and sashimis, they are pretty much similar in price with other sushi placea.Overall, recommend their rolls and fried scallop but not their sushis.“
“Came here for sushi but didn’t expect them to have omakase as well so I tried. The Set B omakase was a 14-course. All the pieces are listed on the menu. The fishes were great quality for this price. Sushi rice was not on par with michelin star omakase but it doesn’t make sense to compare anyway.Other dishes are pretty good. Rolls were pretty fresh. I like the oyakodon the most. The tonkutsu one was sweet and delicious. They give generous portion too.Service was good and quick. Many people at lunch time. Japanese vibes decor. Parking is free.“
“The workers are all so kind! Especially the woman with the bob. She was very beautiful on the inside and out. You can tell she wanted you to just have a good time eating there. My friends and I came and she was so sweet to all of us. Thank you for being sweet to us and letting us have a good time. :)“
