“I found this place while looking for a restaurant to celebrate my birthday. Reviews were good and location convenient. What a wonderful experience!! Nice ambience, casual, cute place. Food was amazing!! we ordered several dishes to share and loved them all!! Portions are generous, more traditional Japanese cuisine, delicious!! Service is great, very polite and attentive. The restaurant brough a surprise tempura matcha ice cream for my birthday and it was delicious. Definitely it is now in our top places to go. Highly recommended.“

“We ordered the large sushi platter to go. It came with three rolls, salad and soup. Yhe quality of the fish was excellent and even better was the generous portions of real wasabi, not the paste wasabi. It was perfect for two with some leftovers but three people is a stretch. We'll be back for more!!!!“

“The atmosphere was fantastic, and the food was delicious. However, the service was disappointing. Our server was condescending and repeatedly interrupted our moment by crossing between us without a word. When I asked about drinks, she was short and even gave inaccurate descriptions. This is my second visit, and both times with the same server have left a sour taste. I hope the service improves because the food deserves better! This is my second visit, and both times with the same brunette server, whose attitude left a sour taste.“

“Budonoki is a true hidden gem. Every dish is beautifully presented, incredibly flavorful, and genuinely satisfying. The owner is warm and welcoming, and the service is thoughtful—our server even surprised us with complimentary items from the chef, all of which were outstanding.
My husband and I keep coming back and have brought clients, friends, and family, and everyone has had a great experience. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate with dim lighting, limited seating, and a relaxed vibe set to tasteful hip hop in the background.
Overall, it’s a standout spot we’re always happy to return to.“

“We had the chance to celebrate Sushi Zanmai’s 1-year anniversary, and it was such a fun experience from start to finish. The restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, and you can tell they truly care about quality and hospitality.
One of the highlights is that Sushi Zanmai has its own exclusive house sake, which made the experience even more unique. We enjoyed a sake tasting, and each bottle had its own smooth, well-balanced flavor that paired beautifully with the food. If you enjoy Japanese sake, this is something you definitely shouldn’t skip.
We ordered the Zanmai Gozen, and it was the perfect way to experience a variety of the restaurant’s specialties. The beautifully presented set included fresh sashimi, crispy shrimp and vegetable tempura, flavorful appetizers, a creative specialty roll, and perfectly cooked bites finished with rich sauces and just the right amount of spice. Every item was fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and showcased authentic Japanese flavors.
The presentation was stunning, the ingredients tasted incredibly fresh, and every bite reflected the attention to detail that Sushi Zanmai is known for. The chefs were welcoming, and watching them prepare the dishes added to the overall dining experience.
If you’re looking for the best Japanese restaurant, fresh sushi, premium sashimi, authentic Japanese cuisine, or a great place to enjoy Japanese sake, Sushi Zanmai is absolutely worth visiting. Congratulations on your first anniversary I can’t wait to come back and explore more of the menu. Highly recommended!“

“Our server Peter was fantastic. He has a great personality, a genuinely friendly attitude, and never made us feel rushed, which we really appreciated.
The sushi was fresh and delicious. One thing that stood out was that the rolls had a generous amount of fish instead of being mostly rice. In fact, the rice portion was surprisingly light, which I personally loved because it let the quality of the fish shine through.
And the Red Wine Roll is an absolute must try, trust me, you will thank me later.“
“Overall 5 stars:
Rationale:
- tons of treats, snack, to choose from
- raw fish quality looked decent and fresh
- sushi quality is superb for being made in advance
- prices : very reasonable
Only suggestions for a better overall customer experience:
- better organization for the refrigerators
- it's too tight and not enough space to open refrigerator doors without bumping people or bothering others while shopping
- the Yama in LA felt like it has a better organization to it, the space size appears to be similar from what I recall, I may be wrong
Having said that:
- this place is phenomenal and you should definitely give it a try
- staff is incredibly nice
- the quality is top notch
- variety/options are decent
- you won't be disappointed and you'll definitely find yourself returning for more“

“Absolutely SUPERB experience. We made reservations for 5:30pm on a Weds; Sat at the bar where we were served directly by Chef Jeff and poured drinks by Richard.
We were warmly greeted upon entering and treated like royalty throughout the experience — extremely attentive staff but are not imposing with their attention. Just the right balance. Chef Jeff was the BEST — extremely kind, informative yet very considerate and socially aware. Clear and concise with each dish’s backstory / context but willing to engage further when we had questions.
LOVED the vibe. Not pretentious. Comfortable yet modern and elegant at the same time. We did not dress up and did not feel underdressed — that says a lot given the top-notch service and food but with a VERY approachable price point. We really enjoyed Morihiro's evolved, more approachable experience.
One of the best dining experiences we've had in a while -- each nigiri was well paced and sequenced. Fish was top notch but also the rice was STELLAR. Classic nigiri like the chutoro and otoro were harmoniously balanced -- texture, flavor and ratio. Then there were nigiri pieces that were smoked with Cherry wood that had an amazing accent of smokiness that did not overpower the fish or rice. There was another nigiri we had that was marinated on a sake-soaked kombu: WOW -- what a great flavor that added to the nigiri. Each nigiri was an absolute delight, I honestly can't stress that enough. Chef Jeff was extremely thoughtful and intentional with the sequencing which made the dining experience really special.
For cocktails, we had a White Negori from Richard and another cocktail that had a strawberry amaro in it. BOTH AMAZING. Then he finished the beverage journey off with a 3-year old Umeshu I believe which was such an unbelievable balance of sweet, sparkling fizz and earthiness from the plum. Great compliment to the sushi.
For the non-sushi dishes, we had the prawn tempura, Shabu (A5 Wagyu), and pickled roots. You would think that these dishes would take a backseat to the sushi but it did not -- they were all well balanced with texture and flavor. Beautifully presented as well.
HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND — you get fine-dining service and food but with approachable pricing and comfort. This is a LA GEM.“

“SUGARFISH in Pasadena was excellent as always. Every dish was fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared, but what really stood out was the exceptional service. The team went above and beyond to address and resolve an issue with a birthday club meal, and they handled it with genuine care and professionalism.
We came on a Monday at 12 pm and there was zero wait, which made the experience even better. Great food, outstanding service, and a consistently wonderful experience. Highly recommend!“

“Seabutter, in the heart of Glendale lies this sushi restaurant that is a masterpiece. It is right next to Americana, sadly it has horrible parking but near places like Shake Shack, bourbon steak, In-n-Out, Capital One cafe, BJ’s brewhouse, and I’m quite sure a Starbucks as well Joe & The Juice literally next door.
Every sushi is fresh and tastes delicious, the atmosphere is like you’re a Roman patrician arriving at his Villa where his luxurious life is. It doesn’t look so fancy, but it feels comfy. There’s no trash nor dirt on the floor just clean and has a nice modern look.
The service here is very quick, the wait time is non-existent and the staff are very kind-hearted and quick with orders. When we come here, we are usually give On the house meals which is nice. There’s also a bar area and you can watch them make your sushi!
The food here is the spotlight in the show, it is the best sushi I have ate in my whole entire lifetime as well my whole bloodline. The sushi here is fresh delicious and it’s nice. I showed pictures of non-sushi items like Chicken Teriyaki, and Garlic Edamani, but most of the pictures are just sushi.
In the end, after coming here 50+ times I can agree this is the best sushi place I will ever touch on earth. If there was sushi in heaven, Seabutter will be there.
They also have another restaurant place called The Bar which I will review one day. But other from that, this place is a must-go and is very underrated and overlooked.
PS: before you go here, the parking is absolute garbage due to Americano and other popular places!
Peace✌️“

“If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. The chef - Tony is his name, I believe - is one of those rare dedicated and obsessed perfectionists who make every meal an occasion. Koreatown is a neighborhood with no shortage of great restaurants; this simple establishment is one of the best.“

“Hands down my favorite place to splurge for dinner. Sitting at the bar for piece-by-piece omakase is always such a great experience. They buy what’s best from the market for that evenings service so I’ve seen them run out of stuff, but that means everything you’re eating is incredibly fresh. Adventurous eaters will be rewarded with the best seasonal delicacies. I’ve sat and eaten for 2 hours and not been served the same thing twice, unless I requested it. Easily some of the best sushi & sashimi outside of Japan.“

“If you are in the San Gabriel Valley area you must stop here if you want amazing Sashimi. Started with fatty Tuna that melted in my mouth so fresh delicious then moved on to giant Clams (Mirugai) it was sweet & crunchy I could have gone for second order not many sushi restaurants have (Mirugai)The fatty belly Salmon was buttery & the spicy Tuna hand roll sashimi was perfect coz I’m a spicy food addict it was just heavenly for me. Yum yum 🤤 ended with Kumamoto Oyster 🦪 it was so sweet like cotton candy in your mouth made me wanting more which I did order more. Lol 😂 The house hot Sake was good for a cold night paired so well with my amazing Sashimi! Great way to end my Friday night here! Thank you Chef!“
“Each piece of nigiri was exquisite, melted like butter on my tongue! Each one was individually seasoned to perfection, either on the rice or the fish, no soy sauce in sight, and definitely not needed! The fresh ginger was the only garnish, and it had to be the most flavorful I have ever had. Chef Fumio is an absolute artist, and gave us a little info on each piece he served. He obviously takes great pride in his work, and it shows! Best Omakase experience I have had in LA, so far, especially for the price. Went for lunch, but will be back for dinner.“

“Very delicious sushi! Garlic edamame has great flavor, that sauce is addictive. Also started with the Toro garlic toast, that toro was melt in your mouth. It was very delicious but I think I would have enjoyed it more if it was on crispy rice. The rolls were great, but what was fantastic was the Hato rice hot stone rice pot. Flavors were unlike anything I have tasted, umami and rich. Definitely a must try!“

“A hidden gem Japanese creative bar near Hollywood. The uni was very fresh and paired pretty well with the scallop, and the toro was rich, fatty, and honestly so good. We ordered a bunch of hand rolls too, and they were all pretty solid. The food came out a little slow, but the service was very nice. Great quality for the price, definitely a place we’d think about coming back to.“

“I came to Ichijiku Sushi to capitalize on the DineLA deal, which - priced at $55 - included a beverage (Hazy IPA), miso soup, edamame, yellowtail & jalapeno sashimi (3), spicy tuna on crispy rice (2), 6 nigiri comprising of bluefin tuna, yellowtail, salmon, branzino with yuzu kosho, albacore with house ponzu, and bluefin chutoro, two hand rolls (I chose yellowtail habanero and salmon ground sesame seed), and green tea mochi ice cream to close out.
It was an amazing meal, with each course bringing serious value through well-sourced ingredients & fish. The ambiance is conducive for sushi devouring with excellent conversations. And at $55, this was amazing. They also have a competitive happy hour that runs from 2-5pm daily, and I definitely want to check that out soon. Also big shout-out to Emi! She's from Hyogo and was very kind :)“

“This place does Japanese AND Thai food?! So let’s see if they’re pretty good eh or ew. I got their spicy tuna and imitation crab crispy rice, dragon roll, and chicken pad Thai to try. The spicy tuna was smooth, not fishy, not really spicy, and pretty limey. The imitation crab mixture was mellow, not fishy or stringy, and was a little mayoy. The rice on the bottom was lightly crispity crunchity and chewy. The dragon roll was filled with more of that imitation crab mix and crunchy briney not fishy masago and was topped with a thin layer of creamy avocado, fatty skin on eel, and sweet drizzle. Wasn’t the biggest fan of the eel skin. The pad Thai came fresh crunchy iceberg lettuce topped with like a peanut sauce dressing. The pad Thai itself was nicely sweet, savory, and tangy and had chewy springy rice noodles, crunchy bean sprouts and a decent amount of a bit dry chicken breast, egg, and bean curd. They’re family owned, everyone here is super nice, and everything tasted really fresh, clean, and not fishy which I like. Overall this place is lowkey pretty good.
Crispy rice $8.50
Dragon roll $19
Chicken pad Thai $21.50“
