“Ordered take out from Nakana after having a really good meal at their other omakase spot in Montrose. Been looking for a solid takeout sushi option for awhile and so happy I’ve found it! Ordered 16 pc sushi combo and was pleasantly surprised it came with miso soup and a nice little cabbage salad. The nigiri was fresh and the rice was tasty and just the right texture. Presentations for takeout was surprisingly nice, we didn’t re-plate anything at home, just ate straight from their containers. They can expect to see us a couple Fridays a month from now on!“

“My parents have been here before and said their food was good. We checked them out tonight and their food isn’t just good, it’s delicious!! We ordered 4 different bento boxes and two bowls, so fresh and tasty. I love supporting small businesses! Do yourself a favor and give them a try! We loved the casual vibe and even the little claw machine!“

“I’ve been coming to Kenbey every week for the past couple months and it genuinely hasn’t missed once. The fish is the freshest I’ve had in the States since eating sushi in Japan, and I don’t say that casually.
I always get the tuna and salmon specials because I truly can’t resist — the seared toro and the salmon with the yuzu truffle are the best bites of sushi I’ve ever had. Every single time.
For my birthday I did the Omakase solo and sat at the bar, and watching the chef work was a work of art. Their classic miso soup was already my favorite, and then the crab miso came with the Omakase and I genuinely don’t know how I’m ever not going to order that now. The ice cream finished it off perfectly — denser than what you’re used to, almost mochi-like. The chef talked me into it and I’m so glad he did.
The staff is warm and attentive in a way that actually feels natural, not performative.
Kenbey is such an underrated hidden gem and I don’t know why more people aren’t talking about it. It’s my new neighborhood spot.“

“Wa is a lovely restaurant with excellent service and delicious sushi. My girlfriend and I come here pretty regularly and are always treated wonderfully by Hara, whose got an amazing memory. We come for date nights , work lunches, birthdays and especially when it’s raining and you need some udon. Reasonably priced, quaint ambience and now that the in n out fixed their parking, it’s easier to get to.“

“Not a big fan of sitting on the side of street where people walk by and you intake that fumes coming from all these traffic. Got to sit inside by the bar, the food here is okay, but a bit pricey for what it's worth. Been to many affordable to very expensive sushi places in the U.S. and in Asia, this place is more IG/social media friendly picturesque place than an actual sushi/sashimi place. Not much nigiri/sashimi choices. Not a big fan of places that sell pre-made canned alcohol with an extreme markup.“

“Oji is my favorite sushi spot in the area!!! I say that as someone who is picky about their sushi. Decent prices with the freshest mouth watering sushi! I usually order mostly sashimi and the sashimi here is always fresh and DELICIOUS! But it’s not just the sushi thats great here. The garlic edamame the agedashi tofu (haven’t been to a place that does it better) the dragon roll… honestly nothing on the menu is ever bad. Of course with sushi it’s always best to eat at the restaurant ( but even take out from here the sushi stands up). When you eat in the restaurant you also get to enjoy the atmosphere. When you step into the restaurant it’s obvious the owners put a lot of thought and effort into the place. While still casual it has a uniquely pleasant vibe. Also the service is great here too! If you’re up for some delicious cold sake, try the sho une junmai dajingo it’s ‘chef’s kiss’. To sum it all up, everything about this place is fantastic and you should definitely make this place your next sushi spot!“

“I took 4 of my closest friends here this past weekend. We sat from 12:30-3 and had a blast. The food is incredibly fresh and tasty and the customer service was crazy good! Very warm, welcoming, hospitable, and funny! One server played a few tasteful jokes on our table. Just a really great experience. We would have stayed but they break at 3. 10/10!“

“If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. The chef - Tony is his name, I believe - is one of those rare dedicated and obsessed perfectionists who make every meal an occasion. Koreatown is a neighborhood with no shortage of great restaurants; this simple establishment is one of the best.“

“Update after 2 years — still the best sushi I’ve had.
I wrote a long review a couple of years ago praising SUGARFISH as the best sushi I’d ever eaten. Just came back for a friend’s birthday and happy to report it’s still just as amazing the second time around.
We ordered the “Trust Me / Just Eat” set menu — absolutely delicious, perfectly prepared, and incredibly consistent with my first visit. Fresh fish, clean flavors, and that signature SUGARFISH quality that’s hard to beat.
Love seeing a place maintain such a high standard over time. Still a favorite.“

“Seabutter, in the heart of Glendale lies this sushi restaurant that is a masterpiece. It is right next to Americana, sadly it has horrible parking but near places like Shake Shack, bourbon steak, In-n-Out, Capital One cafe, BJ’s brewhouse, and I’m quite sure a Starbucks as well Joe & The Juice literally next door.
Every sushi is fresh and tastes delicious, the atmosphere is like you’re a Roman patrician arriving at his Villa where his luxurious life is. It doesn’t look so fancy, but it feels comfy. There’s no trash nor dirt on the floor just clean and has a nice modern look.
The service here is very quick, the wait time is non-existent and the staff are very kind-hearted and quick with orders. When we come here, we are usually give On the house meals which is nice. There’s also a bar area and you can watch them make your sushi!
The food here is the spotlight in the show, it is the best sushi I have ate in my whole entire lifetime as well my whole bloodline. The sushi here is fresh delicious and it’s nice. I showed pictures of non-sushi items like Chicken Teriyaki, and Garlic Edamani, but most of the pictures are just sushi.
In the end, after coming here 50+ times I can agree this is the best sushi place I will ever touch on earth. If there was sushi in heaven, Seabutter will be there.
They also have another restaurant place called The Bar which I will review one day. But other from that, this place is a must-go and is very underrated and overlooked.
PS: before you go here, the parking is absolute garbage due to Americano and other popular places!
Peace✌️“

“Excellent omakase that would rival those at twice the price. The actual omakase experience started about 30 minutes after the reservation time, so... Patience. Valet parking is available, which is always great to have when you spend 2+ hours for dinner in the LA area. I wish they can bring back the ginger they had about a year ago. That was some darn good ginger“

“Excellent! Totally lives up to the hype. Every dish we had was delicious but the salmon sushi, sweet potatoes and salmon collar were the standouts for me. Only thing I think they could work on is the space— tables set between breaks in the booth, air conditioning that turns the food cold quickly, blindingly bright neon lights. It could just be a bit more comfortable. Still, highly recommend!“

“Sushi Palace is one of those places that quietly overdelivers.
From the moment you walk in, the ambiance sets the tone. The neon lighting, the modern decor, and the overall vibe make it feel like an ideal date night spot without trying too hard. It’s stylish but still comfortable, which is harder to pull off than people think.
Now to the food.
The quality of the fish is immediately noticeable. The sashimi is clean, properly cut, and incredibly fresh. You can see it in the color and texture before you even taste it. The salmon had that rich, buttery finish you look for, and the tuna was vibrant and smooth with no metallic aftertaste. This is fish that’s clearly handled with care.
The sushi rice was seasoned well and balanced, not overly sweet or vinegary. That detail alone separates good sushi from average sushi. Presentation across the board was thoughtful without being overcomplicated. It looks beautiful, but more importantly, it tastes right.
Another thing worth mentioning is value. For this level of quality, the pricing is more than fair compared to other restaurants serving comparable sushi and sashimi. You’re not paying inflated “scene” prices here.
If you’re looking for a strong date night sushi spot with high-quality fish and a cool atmosphere, Sushi Palace deserves to be on your list. This is a place that focuses on freshness, execution, and experience.
I’ll definitely be back.“

“Morihiro is just really solid all around. You can tell a lot of care goes into everything, especially the sushi—the rice and fish were super clean and well balanced.
Chef Morihiro Onodera comes from a traditional Japanese background, and it shows. His style is very classic and detail-focused, precise technique and great ingredients. Even the ceramics are part of the experience, since many of the plates are made by him.
Highlights for me were the uni hand rolls and the sashimi. Even the steak and tempura were done really well, simple but executed right.
Nothing feels over the top or gimmicky, just thoughtful and intentional. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but worth it if you’re into traditional sushi done right.“

“If you are in the San Gabriel Valley area you must stop here if you want amazing Sashimi. Started with fatty Tuna that melted in my mouth so fresh delicious then moved on to giant Clams (Mirugai) it was sweet & crunchy I could have gone for second order not many sushi restaurants have (Mirugai)The fatty belly Salmon was buttery & the spicy Tuna hand roll sashimi was perfect coz I’m a spicy food addict it was just heavenly for me. Yum yum 🤤 ended with Kumamoto Oyster 🦪 it was so sweet like cotton candy in your mouth made me wanting more which I did order more. Lol 😂 The house hot Sake was good for a cold night paired so well with my amazing Sashimi! Great way to end my Friday night here! Thank you Chef!“

“Last minute decision to grab a few rolls and we were happy to be able to try Ichijiku Sushi. No wait or line on a Tuesday night which meant we got great service as one of the few people in at that time. We tried the spicy tuna with crunchy rice, a yellowtail hand roll, salmon nigiri, and negitoro & scallion cut hand roll. Favorite was the negitoro hand roll, great quality and delicious, simple flavor. I wasn’t wow’ed by the yellowtail handroll and found the seaweed not very crunchy making each bite a little harder to chew. Fish quality was great though! Glad we got to try this smaller neighborhood joint.“

“Fresh fish, good rice, excellent customer service. Premade basic rolls in the fridge are always good quality. Sashimi is sushi grade so no weird cuts mixed in. Yellow tail collars are meaty for broiling and include side pieces that you can scrape off to make hand rolls or mix up as spicy yellowtail to top your rolls with. I always get those for a nice simple dinner at home. See pics.“

“I've gotten sushi here a few times via Doordash. The quality of the sushi rolls is good overall, but the portion has gotten very small. The vegetable tempura is subpar considering the price they charge. (The pumpkin is sliced so thin and the taro is cut like the size of a pinky!)“

This place absolutely blew us away.
Super fresh and flavorful Sushi
We love every bite
Wait was a little long but the host handled it like a champ. Service was perfect. Thank you guys for a great night out with my love.“
“I got the most simple 3 hand roll set. It was good, not exceptional but I enjoyed them. The green tea I ordered was closer to matcha in water than brewed tea which I think is strange, and I also ordered a “Mochi” from the menu which ended up being an ice cream mochi. It was not labeled as being ice cream, which is common in sushi places in the US, but it was not labeled as such, so I thought it was just mochi. I still ate it because it was a reasonable price and it was good. The people working there were exceptional, especially the sushi chef working closest to me was very personable and kind.“

“This place does Japanese AND Thai food?! So let’s see if they’re pretty good eh or ew. I got their spicy tuna and imitation crab crispy rice, dragon roll, and chicken pad Thai to try. The spicy tuna was smooth, not fishy, not really spicy, and pretty limey. The imitation crab mixture was mellow, not fishy or stringy, and was a little mayoy. The rice on the bottom was lightly crispity crunchity and chewy. The dragon roll was filled with more of that imitation crab mix and crunchy briney not fishy masago and was topped with a thin layer of creamy avocado, fatty skin on eel, and sweet drizzle. Wasn’t the biggest fan of the eel skin. The pad Thai came fresh crunchy iceberg lettuce topped with like a peanut sauce dressing. The pad Thai itself was nicely sweet, savory, and tangy and had chewy springy rice noodles, crunchy bean sprouts and a decent amount of a bit dry chicken breast, egg, and bean curd. They’re family owned, everyone here is super nice, and everything tasted really fresh, clean, and not fishy which I like. Overall this place is lowkey pretty good.
Crispy rice $8.50
Dragon roll $19
Chicken pad Thai $21.50“
