“Well, as they say… “they don’t make ‘em like this anymore.” What a DELIGHTFUL experience at Berge’s. I had the turkey & avocado, while another friend has the grilled cheese & tomato basil bisque soup. Both were so, so good. When one of the employees had realized 2 of us in our party of three hadn’t tried the soup… they sent over 2 smaller cups to make sure we got to experience the magic.

We talked with one of the employees who has been working at Berge’s since ‘95. The level of care that goes into the time the shred the fresh lettuce, ensure the purchasing high quality meats, and expertly make the same soup every day makes for a deli experience people want to be a part of over and over again.

There is something about a laminate wood paneled shop that just does it for me. Especially one where the owner sits in a corner, makes sure every is getting what they need, monitoring it all while competing a crossword. The start serving 2 different soups a daily when the weather cools off, and I personally cannot wait until I get to write to you all again about when I get my hands on a Berge’s tuna melt.”

“Great taste, almost the best chicken I had in LA. I loved USC branch during school days and now I’ve moved here and I can also enjoy the Honeybird chicken! I feel blessed..”

“Fantastic service. The specialties and house signature food and drink are fabulous. I had the braised short rib and the house dirty martini. Delicious. Also please try the truffle deviled eggs, Brussels sprouts and truffle fries. Love this place.”

“Staff is friendly. Food is always fresh and delicious. Orders occasionally have had errors, but staff members correct them. Love the Santorini bowl with falafel.

Kid-friendliness: The kids meals are a great deal, and I love when they offer “kids eat free” in July. They also sometimes have coloring sheets for the kiddos to enter into a contest.”

“This place was amazing. My husband and I have been looking for a new sushi spot for a while. It was delicious. I'm vegetarian and was worried they would have nothing for me. I had the garlic edimami veggie roll and vegetable tempura. Delicious. My husband had the baked salmon roll and baked lobster roll. He can't stop talking about it. To top it off the menus had scripture on them. "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." 1 Corinthians 13:13 ... Love it!!!”

“We are BBQ folks. We smoke our own and have traveled the country trying different spots. There is so much that goes into BBQ. For those of us who truly love it; it's an art form and science of cuts, color, bark, brine -- the whole deal. We've experienced much of the local (Southern California) flavor and have found a few spots that excel. We moved up to Pasadena recently and were Yelping to see if there was a BBQ spot up here that we could try. When we came upon Mission I was skeptical. It didn't make sense that a BBQ spot would do catering and weekend farmer's market stuff. The only way to see if the reviews were legit was to give it a shot. We found the location at the farmer's market tucked away and because we were late in the day, had to pick from the meats that were left. Ribs, brisket, mac & cheese -- and the two sauces they stocked (mild & spicy). Our order was bundled and we brought it home and launched into the meal. Brisket -- soft, moist, flavorful. Brisket is not easy to cook. It can get dry and -- sometimes greasy from the fat. This was none of that. It was excellent -- some of the best ever. 5/5!!! Ribs -- very good. Solid. My personal perfect-preference is ribs that are just a touch less moist -- but we are talking the difference between 98/100 or 94/100. They were solid. Great flavor. Mac & Cheese. Excellent. Texture, color, flavor, taste -- all outstanding. 5/5!!! Sauce. We had a cup of each of their offerings: spicy and mild. Each had a lovely smokey flavor. The spicy had a nice kick without blowing the back out of your throat. Again -- this is a little nitpicky, but we find the perfect sauce to be a touch less sticky. We've had great first meals and horrible second meals at certain spots and horrible first meals and great second meals. We like to try the food several times before writing reviews so we ordered again for another experience. This time we added baked beans, burnt ends, and smoked chicken to the meal. Second time was exactly as great as the first time. Everything was solid, solid, solid. Now -- the thing that gives Mission six-stars is the folks behind the food. These people are dedicated to making a contribution to the world through food as few are. They are kind, generous, dedicated -- truly amazing!!!! Judith and her family are the kind of folks I want to invite over to have the food we just bought from them!!! Wonderful, wonderful people!! Thank you so much Mission!!!! We are dedicated fans and followers for as long as you make food!!!”

“Constellation is a jewel in both La Canada and Silver Lake. It’s one of a handful of really good coffee shops in LA. Their espresso is smooth but flavorful, perfect for that early AM wake up call. We were in search of a light, low-sugar cake and Marjan recommended a stunning saffron, pistachio, and rose petal cake that not only looked beautiful but also had an eclectic fragrance. She thoughtfully wrote a note on the cake and provided a candle, which was a nice touch. The environment was friendly, and the quality of the cake was outstanding. Highly recommend!"

“They didn't have patio service on the day we went. We each got soups. The broth is very good, you can taste that is a long slow cooking process. The yukgaejang is very hearty. I got it made at a milder spice level. The service is prompt and friendly. You cannot take any of the leftover banh chan home.”

“A good reliable place to eat. It's like a coffee shop but they serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and have a bar too. Never have I had a bad experience. Although, their actual hours are different than what is internet posted.

Parking: There are other businesses that share parking but had never not found parking.”

“It was a fund raiser for my granddaughters' school. The place was full of moms and dads, friends, neighbors, softball members, younger siblings and grandparents. The pizza and salad were Delicious and as soon as the kids ate they played the arcade games and fed quarters into the toy machines to see what prizes they would get. It's well organized and has a quick turnaround -Order, Pay, Eat, Play. A fun place to get a great pizza.”

All menu items from Breakfast to Dinner are consistently as fresh and of the highest quality as they were 25 years ago.”

“Ordered to go, but very satisfying. The chicken flavors were great. Personally not a fan of the rice texture in the kimchi fried rice. Definitely try the rosé ddeok-bokki with cheese. Canned sodas available, not a fan.Located in a small strip mall, so parking isn’t a problem. Across the street from Jack in the Box. Not a lot of tables, not great for big groups.”

“If you’re looking for a great lunch spot, Fresh Brothers in La Cañada is definitely worth checking out. Their lunch special is a total win. The pizza is really tasty, with a crispy crust and fresh toppings that make each slice delicious. But the real surprise was the Fresh Brothers Style Salad. It’s packed with fresh, crunchy veggies and has a perfect mix of flavors. Honestly, the salad was amazing and paired really well with the pizza. Overall, it’s a fantastic meal that I’d definitely recommend.
