THE source for the BEST focaccia!!! Definitely worth a side trip to North Beach! I learned about this place from my wonderful cooking teacher many years ago, Joan Wood, who grew up in this neighborhood.
One word Focaccia. That's it. That's what they do and they do it at an elite level. If you hate bread then this place isn't for you. If you have an appreciation for soft baked items with a no frills approach then this is it. Beautiful in its simplicity. The menu is simple, the idea is simple, the prices are simple. The flavor? I can't believe I've lived in San Francisco my entire life and hadn't had Liguria's focaccia until last month. I came in right before 9:00am on a Tuesday and was able to get three slabs of the pizza focaccia ($9 each), which is what my colleague who grew up in North Beach recommended, to bring to the office. It was easily one of the best focaccia I've ever had! No wonder they typically sell out well before they close for the day. I'll definitely be back to try the other kinds....read full review
