“Small establishment not the most appealing atmosphere but the food makes up for the lacking of ambiance. Order over the phone 20 mins later had our food. Friendly staff. Food hot upon pick up. Recommend 100%.I also ordered the yellow chicken curry not pictured. Taste delicious over the rice. A must combo.“

“This was a cute Thai restaurant I tried for the first time. The food was very good and they are able to adjust the spice level and offer different proteins (tofu, chicken, seafood, beef, duck) based on what you would like for you meal. We had the tom kha soup, panang curry, pad kee mao (drunken noodles), sweet basil entree, and mango sticky rice. All our entrees were a mild spice level and had tofu as the protein. They were all very flavorful and seasoned well so we found them to be very tasty. The best part was that the rice was served very warm with the mango so that a delicious end to our meal. Staff here is very friendly and quick. There is only indoor seating.“

“Excellent restaurant. We went there 5 years ago. We had Salmon Crepe. It was delicious, and again we went there on Mother's Day. We ordered the same dish. It was so delicious. I'm very happy that there is a restaurant like this in the Bay Area that survived many years and foods can still maintain a good standard.“

“Great Thai in the East bay! I have a go-to delivery Thai place closer to my house but I wanted to give a new place a try. Chai Thai has a great menu, from appetizers to curries to noddles. I ordered Pad Thai with pork, side of fried eggs and an order or chive cakes (gui chai). The food arrived ready to eat and all was delicious. The Pad Thai had great flavor. I love when you get a nice portion of each of the ingredients; meat to tofu to eggs to green onion to sprouts. Each bite had everything. Can't wait to order again from Chai Thai!“

“We ate there last evening. My wife and I are in our mid seventies and vacationing from out of state. We wanted a place for dinner and appreciate Thai food offerings. An old friend had been there for Mother's Day and posted on Facebook their favorable visit, so we decided to try it. It is a clean and cozy venue. The food was fresh and light. The sauces were lively and not too spicy for our mature taste. Portions were plentiful, so we will be having Thai food for lunch today in our VRBO Casita, and we didn't even share a soup, knowing that would be too much. The mango and sticky rice hit the spot after Satay chicken and my wife's yellow chicken curry and my shrimp. The shredded mango salad was fresh and ample. The service was attentive and friendly!“

“Delicious!! First time here and went in for lunch on a Wednesday and they were pretty busy but took us in and sat us right away. The service was friendly and very fast. I had the spicy wings appetizer -- so good! And for my entree I had the spicy basil chicken and that was tasty. I will definitely be back.“

“Papaya Thai is a Bay Area treasure. My wife and I stumbled upon it while looking for a good place to have lunch after running an errand in Newark. We had Lamb Yellow Curry Stew and Pad Thai with Shrimp. The lamb was perfectly cooked in a rich yellow curry with potatoes and carrots. The meat was as tender as you can possibly imagine. The Pad Thai was mixed with a sweet sauce that was slightly sticky, which I like so the noodles adhere to each other. I don’t know if this is traditional, but really like Pad Thai like that.“

“We came on a Monday evening which is a slow night in general so the restaurant was very empty. We ordered the Bulgogi bowl, spicy pork bowl and cheese Bulgogi fries. It was a great value meal because of the amount of food there was in each bowl. The food tasted good but since it was a slow evening for them, I think a lot of their food is made in advance. Elements like the meat and the egg don't come out super hot and fresh tasting. Maybe it would be different if it was a busier night and they were making items to order. The Bulgogi cheese fries were decent but the areas with the cheese got soggy really quickly. Probably wouldn't order that again. I would recommend this place for the great value and comforting food. I just wish some of the key components of the bowls were made to order so it's hot and fresh tasting.“

“Been here twice. We got the sesame chicken and the Kung Pao Chicken. I would describe it as a much better Panda Express. The ingredients taste better, big portions, and we got our food very fast. This is definitely our go to takeout Chinese food.“
