Huge portions! Sushi was like double normal size,no joke. Been about 2 years since my last visit, and they added new things like a special menu for rolls and a menu for boba drinks. Food is delicious, and the server made us laugh.

Went for lunch Wednesday. Order a C9 which is sukiyaki and tempura combination. Not many Japanese restaurants offer sukiyaki and this place is one of the best around. A big bonus is the exceptionally nice wait staff. Can't wait to go back again. Forgot to mention that my first time at Sakura was more than forty years ago. I love this place

This used to be one of my favorite local restaurants. I hadn't been here in over a year. We decided to come here for my mom's 84th birthday dinner. We were a party of 10 plus a baby. The service was excellent. Our server got everything right. She was friendly, attentive and fast. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The ambiance is still casual and cozy and the whole staff is very attentive. I will definitely keep returning.

This used to be my favorite restaurant when I was little. That being said, I have been coming here my whole life. Recently came in for lunch, and I got the teriyaki chicken, sashimi, and tempura plate. It was so much, and such great quality. Our server was very patient and helpful. And the restaurant inside has lots of seating, and very cute/cool decorations all around. If you live in West Covina, or are in the area, I highly recommend this place!

LAST EDIT 2/8/24: SAD DAY FOR OUR FAMILY, AFTER NEARLY 23 YEARS OF REGULAR PATRONAGE, WE WON'T BE COMING HERE ANYMORE Unfortunately, during COVID they had to change suppliers for their imitation crab meat, which I totally understand, BUT this new supplier's crab meat tastes awful! It has a strong odd odor, a strange taste, and a rough texture. Compared to their PRE-COVID supplier which was a pleasant salty and creamy taste and soft finely chopped creamy texture. I know that it's only imitation crab meat. But that's exactly why it's so easy to mess up. After not having it for almost a year I tried it again today thinking that maybe I was just overreacting but, it was so bad that I couldn't even finish one piece of my California roll. And that's ONE of the things that we specifically come here for. I know, you might be thinking that it's not a big deal, it's just a California roll. But, when you come to enjoy a certain type of food at a certain restaurant you expect it to taste the same every time you go -- That's the whole point of finding your favorite restaurant, it's because you like the taste of what they're serving. But now that they've changed it I don't want to come anymore. And that really makes me sad because like I said we've been coming here for nearly 23 years. In the future I may call and check in with them and ask if they have returned to using their old supplier in the hopes that we can return to our special Sakura of Tokyo in West Covina.5 years ago: No complaints ever, ever, ever! I drove past this place for a decade and never went in. Mistake! My wife and I brought our 13 year old picky eater and he loved it! We got "The Boat for two" and a couple of appetizers and it was nice ?The Boat is basically a sampler platter with a little of everything except the sushi.Lots of funKid-friendliness: Kids love the teriyaki and atmosphere ?

I would like to say I didn't exactly come here with intention but I am glad I got to catch some good service at the start of the year. My family and I were coming out of a wedding rehearsal and needed a place to cover about 20+ of us within the last hour of their lunch shift. It was the most convenient last minute finds. Although the food wasn't the greatest quality sushi I have had, it's overall decorative atmosphere and accommodating service was worth a try. We got various boats that had chicken teriyaki, beef teriyaki, shrimp tempura and salad. Standard and nothing too memorable taste wise but my nephew enjoyed seeing a bunch of boats sprawled on the table. My cousins and I also added a sushi boat that had a fair assortment of nigiri and rolls. Personally, this held way too much rice which quickly washed out the other ingredients. Overall, not necessarily the place to come running back to but if needed for big groups and accommodating service.. Go ahead and try. Drinks did take a very long time to get to us so keep that in mind. While service is nice, it can be slow and even sometimes a bit forgetful.
