“I love ramen and when I day dream or crave it - I always think of you. We have been coming to your place for years now and you never disappoint me. I think I've tried all of your ramen dishes but my favorite is spicy chicken or Shoyu prawn. You make magic in your kitchen so kudos to your chef and lovely staff who is always attentive and en point. We will be back again. Thanks.“

“Loved their Tonkatsu. Rich but not too heavy. Really enjoyed the ambience/decor and the staff was super great! We met who I assume is the owner when he came by and thanked us for coming which was super nice. Always love sitting at the counter and watching cook/prep. We’ll be back!!!“

“Somehow got lucky and got seated as we walked in. A quick summary:1.) Ordered Sen Cha tea, beef gyoza, and Monster ramen. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted great. Only thing I didn’t like was the limited menu add on options compared to some other ramen places around Chicago.2.) Parking can be difficult to find in the area when it’s busy.3.) Service is top line. They refill waters/tea and clear dishes so fast. Dessert menu came immediately after the main course.“

“We had lunch on a weekday so there were plenty of seats, but also a couple other customers. We were seated in a festive booth that has coat hooks and a sense of privacy without feeling too enclosed. I asked what ramen was recommended for the first time eating at their shop, and ordered the recommended Spicy Tonkotsu ($18), a pork bone broth with red chili mixed in to a medium degree (my friend ordered the regular Tonkotsu ramen, $17). We also ordered the kurobuta (Berkshire) sausage ($7), which comes with a spicy mayo, as well as a couple of melon cream sodas ($4), which were ectoplasm green and served with a cute, cartoonish glass and straw. The service was mindful, friendly, and fast, getting our order early on, giving me a recommendation when asked, describing the spice level, bringing out the food and checking on us a couple times. Everything was done with a genuine looking smile and demeanor, and was just right. The food portions were as expected, and the ingredients were above par. The ramen noodles are thin, served slightly al dente with a good bite and chew. The bowl was also extra-packed with the noodles, which are delicious, but also absorb the broth over time, so I would focus on eating at least half of the noodles in the beginning when having ramen there, and then enjoy the second half with the toppings like the hanjuku egg, chashu pork, nori, etc. The appetizer came with five good-sized sausages, and it was easy to cut the last one to share, since they were perfectly crisped on the outside and juicy on the inside. The melon cream soda was surprisingly refreshing and not-too-sweet to cut through the heavier flavors in the ramen to reset the palate.Overall, having tried ramen at a number of places around Chicago, as well as Japan, I would say Kohoku-Ku Ramen is a solid choice off the beaten path, and deserves a visit when you have an urge to try something new, or go back for more.“

“My friend and I had dinner on a at this stylish, casual spot on a Saturday night. We didn’t have reservations but we were lucky to get a table because it quickly filled up while we ate. The service was prompt and friendly. Cocktails were straightforward and tasty- nothing fancy here.Small plates came out fast and tasted great- fortunately so because we were hungry. My spicy miso ramen was very delicious. The bamboo shoots were a highlight. I am excited to go back again.Kid-friendliness: There were lots of families with young children here- the level of activity seemed suitable for this and we were all very comfortable.“

“Coming from Huntington Beach California where ramen is pretty popular, we tried Ramen Wasabi near our AirBnB. Surprisingly, my spicy garlic miso was so flavorful, the roasted pork was so soft, and plenty. My other friends also had good complements. Staff was nice, and often stopped by to check on us. Totally happy!“

“We had the Akahoshi Miso Ramen. The Good: really nice broth and they have great cocktails (I had the Yuzu Highball). The Meh: the chashu was good but not as "melt in your mouth" as I have had, the noodles were fresh and homemade but not as chewy as I like, and it's just a little sad that for the base price ($19) we had to add the egg ($2), nori ($1), and spicy powder ($1). My honest opinion is that it was a decent bowl of ramen, just really not the worth the price.“

“Best Sushi Restaurant on the planet. Not only was all the food superior than any other Sushi restaurant I've been to. My family and I had a feast.(I mean all the food was good). Very reasonable prices as well. The most astonishing fact about this restaurant was the host (Quam) his amazing knowledge of food and customer service was unlike any other. The Ice cream desert was mind blowing. You don't have to take my word for it, but I guarantee you, you won't find another Sushi restaurant in the city of Chicago as good this one. The ambiance of this establishment is very warm and pleasant. I highly recommend this place for family gatherings, and with people you want to share a special food feast with. It's pure laughter and joy. Thank you Quam for your kind recommendations on food selections. My family and I had the time of our lives, as if we were on vacation. Thank you! "Fresh Shushi Chicago" is a gift to eating out.“

“This may make sense to those who are of my generation and perhaps even older; have you ever experienced wanting a good old fashioned simple and greasy hamburger or cheeseburger but have found it difficult to find one? Too many places you go, they have created 'gourmet' burgers with 'inspiration' from various places. While these are good/decent, you just want your good, old, original, simple hamburger! That out of the way, imagine the same for Japanese food.I'm not a Japanese cuisine specialist by any means however I do know some flavors since I grew up in Tokyo. I so miss the tori no karaage (chicken karaage) but everywhere I have been to (not too many to be fair), it's way too Americanized which is ok but come on, someone's got to have authentic or close to authentic chicken karaage.I honestly gave up on Japanese food (Japanese curry rice, ramen, chicken karaage and takoyaki) in the US till I came across Rakkan Ramen. The founder, Ryohei Ito brought the idea of Rakkan Ramen with one goal in mind; bring authentic Japanese food to the world. Is the chicken karaage exactly how I remember having it in Tokyo growing up or on my various trips back there? I'd say 98% yes. The 2% is probably the type of chicken available here, the oils, water, etc. No nonsense specially made aolis drizzled on top and topped with tiny things to make it pretty; Rakkan Ramen's chicken karaage is as close as it gets to what you get in Japan. So let's get on with it. It was about 2 or 3 months ago, a friend and I visited Rakkan Ramen based on reviews and I figured let's check it out.You enter and you are transported to Japan with the word, Irrashaimase coming out of the staff's mouth within the first 2 seconds that you enter the door. OMG. I AM LOVING IT SO FAR.We are seated way back in the corner (which I don't mind. I'm an introvert anyway). We ordered the takoyaki which was outstanding. We also ordered a side of the chicken karaage (which I have already described above). We each ordered a ramen. I ordered the Amber. The broth was a BOMB. While vegan, the flavor profile it had was so Japanese and outstanding. The seasoned egg was PERFECTLY done. The bamboo shoots, hmmmm, that crunch in your mouth and lastly the chachu (grilled pork). The chachu I will say I've had better at other spots in the US. The actual noodles too I think there are spots that have better ones. Overall, this ramen HIT THE SPOT and I felt like I found a JACKPOT.Fast forward a while later, I went in solo for a lunch special on a Friday afternoon and ordered the Pearl ramen AND of course, my chicken karaage. The karaage again was exactly how it was the first time I had it. The ramen too was so amazing. Salty (not too salty but just right) and truly umami. One additional thing I wish Rakkan would do is to start adding wakame. This is the wet/soft seaweed that is a common ingredient across Japan in ramen, udon and miso soups. I have yet to come across a Japanese restaurant in the US that serves wakame (again, I have probably tried at most 50 Japanese restaurants in the US and I know there are thousands)I am so glad to have found this place. Now that I'm back, I plan on having my ramen fix every other week for a Friday lunch.“

“I was walking around before my concert and looking for food to eat, I entered and was immediately greeted by the staff, I believe his name was JP. He was very nice and gave wonderful recommendations about their menu. Would come back again to try other things on the menu!“

“Really cute decor. Lovely staff. I love the set up. The tables are ground level which I’m assuming it’s to give a traditional Japanese feel. I am giving the food a 4 star only because I didn’t order food, I got the matcha cheese cake. I’m not a fan of the cheese cake but the food might be good. I can barely taste the matcha. It hardly has flavor throughout the entire cake. It tastes almost like regular cheesecake. $6 seems too high for some plain cheese cake.“

“Love the Shoyu ramen with pork belly. Very generous. I can never eat all of the noodles. Sometimes I order extra broth to have with my left over noodles. The staff is very friendly and professional. I've only had the hot black tea with ginger and it Really helped when I had a cold. I've done takeout and delivery. Next time I have a guest in taking them there. Gonna order right now! ?“

The servers are learning English but they were still able to answer all my questions about the menu and were very friendly. I’ve yet to dine in, but so far I’ve no complaints with takeout. I’ll definitely be coming back.“

“Beautiful restaurant in the heart of wicker! It’s such a great place to stop in if you’re in the area, with a great atmosphere. The staff was really kind even though it was pretty busy so we definitely appreciated that. We had some drinks that weren’t very strong but tasted great and the food was good but not anything to rave about in my opinion. I was slightly disappointed by the serving size compared to other ramen restaurants in Chicago but it still tasted great. Overall a great place to stop in but wouldn’t go out of my way.“

“First time here with a friend, and I couldn’t be more impressed! The atmosphere left me in awe. Our server was very friendly, helpful, and professional. And the food, you might be asking? I had chicken gyoza and takoyaki for an appetizer, and electric eel sushi, which includes unagi tempura, asparagus, avocado, spicy tuna, and tempura bits. Two words: ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I can go as far as saying this might be my new go-to sushi place. No, let me rephrase that—THE BEST SUSHI PLACE I have tried so far! I love going to a new place that can hit all the checkmarks. It leaves a smile on my face! Stop wasting your time deciding where to get sushi—THIS IS YOUR SIGN! Enso Sushi & Bar is the place!“

“If you have the patience to get awesome food for Dinner but excruciatingly slow service this is your Thai place.Never on time with online orders. One time we walked away from an evening with less than 50% of tables occupied, waited almost 30 minutes for a server at our table and not even water was brought... and somehow we come back for the food ?“
