It's sad that this is ran by a arrogant young DRUNK kid! The price that we agreed to on the phone he had forgot (because he was drunk) , we ended up paying more for the room. He even forgot who he talked to on the phone (because he was drunk). When we got there wife was in the restroom and he had handed the key to my 5 year old and then he told me the price and I asked very nicely ( wasn't the price....?) He quickly snatched the keys from my 5 year old (because he was drunk) and said I'll just wait till your wife gets back she was the one I talked to! Nope it wasn't. I talked to him on the phone just a few hours before we arrived and ironed out the price and the room! Also take into account that this is 3 in the afternoon! He literally just stumbles around the property and drinks all day and night! We traveled a long way to stay here, the only thing that was good was the room, but still it had nothing in the fridge like he said but he wouldn't know (because he was drunk)! I was beyond pissed and wanted to leave but there is literally nowhere to stay anywhere close! It's sad that it's under such terrible ownership because it's a really cool place with lots of history! This is a prime of example of how values and ethics have eroded away over generations!

Let me start by saying our first trip to Story Inn was absolute perfection. Magical. The food was some of the best we’ve had since moving to Indiana. We were so impressed with dinner we tipped everyone w $100 & $50.00 bills, declaring Story Inn “our place” and deciding we would return every Christmas. We told everyone how wonderful our experience was and enthusiastically suggested they go if given the chance.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Fast forward to 3yrs later (we were unable to come because of my sister’s long illness):We booked for 2 nights & were so looking forward to the dining experience as it was the highlight of our last visit……THE FOOD WAS HORRIBLE!!!! THE SERVICE WAS BEYOND SLOW!! Friendly, but painfully slow. -sometimes over 30 minutes between each course! The food was always cold & we were served bazaar and unpalatable pairings. The “plating” was even offensive. For example~ we were served caviar on a bed of micro greens!!! Try to imagine a dollop of caviar over a bunch of raw sprouts…. Why???Next, and to our disbelief, we were served leftover muscles from the horrible dinner we’d had the night before. After which came a tiny portion of octopus on a large white ball of uncooked dough filled with what appeared to be cottage or ricotta cheese??? I didn’t even taste this as the appearance and smell was off putting. After that came the cubed fish! Yes, CUBED, cold, dried out fish!! The server preceded to pour something called “crazy water” out of a tea kettle over the fish. Again bazaar and confusing.Still starving (as we hadn’t touched most of our other courses) we waited for our main course which was also BAZAAR!!! A decently prepared Chilean sea bass served over a cold and extremely dense pasta w a tomato based sauce. Again, WHY???But the craziness didn’t end before desert - which at this point was not surprising ….. We were served leftover cannolis from the night before. The pastry was stale due to refrigeration and the filling was hard and gummy. What a waste of almost $500.00 (for 2 horrendous meals after the built in tip.) I was so disappointed.I wish I’d taken pictures of what we were served. Of the charts bad.For $100 a plate you should not be served cold muscles and stale canolli. TWICE!!!From what I hear- this place has not had decent food since the previous chef left. Both meals cost us well over $400.00 after the built in tip.Having said that, the staff was always lovely. Sadly, We won’t be back.FYI: ***IF YOU NEED WI-FI AND HOT WATER THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU!!! There is literally NO signal. No phone calls - no texts- no internet - no tv. (This was fine for us and we didn’t mind as we spent most of our time shopping in the artist village)

I'm from Maryland and was in the area exploring covered bridges. I purposely extended my trip by one extra day just to stay here. Truly a gem of an establishment!

We just stopped in to eat. Sat for at least 20 mins and never got waited on nor even acknowledged. We walked out and won't be back. Sad, it could have been a cool place to check out.

We had Thanksgiving dinner there. The food was OK, but served barely warm. Definitely not worth the price. I won't ever be back. I didn't complain at the time because who wants to wait for the server to take your plate back to the kitchen to have it nuked?Food & drinks: Lukewarm meal served at a barely edible temperature. I didn't complain at the time because who wants to wait for the server to take your plate back to the kitchen to have it nuked?

Met up with friends in July 2023 for brunch while visiting Nashville. Old haunted hotel with really fine restaurant, pretty much the only major building left in Story. Hubby being disabled, I called beforehand to verify accessibility. Parking was a short distance away in a gravel lot - not the easiest to traverse with a scooter. A wheelchair ramp is available on the far side of the hotel, which was doable, but maneuvering hubby's scooter took some doing as the halls are quite narrow. We were seated promptly (reservations strongly recommended!) & our server was on top of things. Food was great, company even better! There's a small shop at the entrance where they sell apple butter & other goods. (Highly recommend the apple butter!) Before leaving, my friend & I walked back to the gardens, passing the outdoor lounge & espying the horses "parked" nearby. Turns out Story abuts Brown County State Park & their horseman trail. Some unique art pieces seen on our meander, too. Would visit again if in the area.

To begin my experience me and my father walk down a loud flight of stairs. we get into the bar and we find and open table. it had probably Been 15 minutes and we still had not been even in contact with a server. eventually my father walks up to the bartender and ask for service. and my father explains that I'm under the age of 21. and they say we have to sit outside. normally this would not be an issue. but when we decided we were going to make the trek out here we figured we would not have to dress warmly so I was in shorts and a t shirt. it is 40 degrees outside and we wait outside for probably 15 minutes. and my father decided he's going to go the bar and get us soft drinks. so he comes back later with them so we drink our drinks while we both freeze our balls off and we wait for probably 25 minutes. and the order my father had put in for food is still not there. so he goes and ask the waiter where the food is and if it's being prepared. and she comes back 5 minutes later with the food. and the food was incredible the burger was so delicious but information still ceased to exist about how we were supposed to pay for our meal. and she said she would be back with the bill then we got our bill. and left all in all if your over the age of 21 it's great but it's been 20 minutes since we left and my hands are still numb.

Went to Story Inn on a ghost adventure of the Blue Lady, we had a wonderful time, the staff was well educated on the property and very friendly. The area is quiet and still great place to consider for a weekend get away! As far as the ghosts go, we had a lot of activity and interactions! Well worth the night stay!

Very unique place to visit. I didn't book a room here but am told they are quite unique and quaint. 3 stars on location because it is out in the boonies but the drive is well worth it for some fun karaoke on a Saturday night. Just don't drink too much because the roads to and from are very curvey and winding. The bar is very unique and in the basement and bartenders are very efficient and friendly. It is a hometown atmosphere with plenty of friendly local patrons and they uniquely have a village idiot picked every year. They also have nature trails and horseback riding. Fun times.Noteworthy details: Very unique place that's worth the drive.

We just wanted to get away for a fall day on a Saturday. Decided to avoid the crowds and found this place. Thought we would stay for an hour or so but stayed there most of the day. Everyone we met was friendly. We ate barbecue out back. Set around the campfire chatting, then went to the bar. We met a couple and chatted with them for the remainder of the afternoon. We didn't stay overnights at the end.

Food was good. Lobster was on the cold side. Service was slow. 2 1/2 hours. In my opinion over priced. Waitress was friendly.

The food was extremely overpriced for what was served. 3/8 inch ribeye overcooked with two asparagus spears and a quarter cup or less of rice. Service was horrible. Took over two and half hours to eat. I would not recommend at all.
