Heard about the chicken soup, so after a busy steady work day I decided to go and patronize my Jamaican business. I asked for chicken soup and the price. Jennifer said the small was $5 and some change, the large was $8.49 I believe, so I said I’ll take the large and extra dumplings. She replied” only 2 dumplings! Have to have enough to go around”! I said I’m not giving you almost 9$ for 2 dumplings, have a nice day. So I went to the market bought my chicken and had the veggies and coconut milk on hand and I made plenty Mon! Delicious dumplings! So I won’t ever go there again.I was thinking of a true business man( really a Jewish merchant) he would’ve sold me as many dumplings as I was willing to buy and would’ve made more to keep me coming back. JS?

Said it before and I'll say it again: Hummingbird is my absolute FAVORITE Baltimore spot for Jamaican food, period. Love it! Check this place out.

The front desk lady wasn't first time customer Friday I was asking questions and she gave vague answers. There also out of most things. Like macaroni and plantains

Open Air drug market near entrance and parking is always iffy. Get past those things and you will enjoy the food. I'll be back!!!

Love God Love your neighbor
First time eating there and I was greatly impressed and will be returning. I usually go to St Marys for my Jamaican fill but Hummingbird has taken their place for 2 reasons: Taste and Price. I had Currried Goat with Rice and Cabbage/Veggies. The only thing I hate is the location because its alot going on as far as car and people traffic which is the only reason for the 4 stars otherwise it'd be 5. The rent gotta be cheap and with the economy I understand the need to make it work where your at until better comes along or whatever the case may be with the locale situation. Many blessings to all and again the food was truly delicious, thank you for the service and I will be returning regularly. Oh forgot to mention the portions were also satisfying so that would be a 3rd reason. ?Update years later: I still go here and it's still is the best most flavorful jaimaican food to me. I have gone to other places and they are bad but they just aren't the same as at Hummingbird. I really do enjoy their flavorful and well-seasoned food.
I ordered the J*** Shrimp, J*** Chicken and Oxtails. All were seasoned well and cooked to perfection. Great service from the lady up front, will be back 10/10

Absolutely love this place. Oxtail, Stew beef is sooo good. Oxtail the best I’ve had of many different spots I’ve tried. Rice and peas, and plantain are always very good. I also love that cabbage is cooked til tender. Everything is good here.

On a recent visit I tried their 8.00 daily special size Oxtails.Portion was just enough to wet your appetite and fill you.The oxtails were tender and savory. The rice & beans and cabbage was not an afterthought. You can tell some soul and seasonings went into everything.I'll definitely be paying them more visits in the future. No pics. LOLI inhaled my food.
