“I have been eating there for years. I went the other night because I was craving scallops. I got my usual scallops and tried to substitute o-rings for fries. The girl told me it wasn't allowed. No substitutions. I was willing to pay for the upgrade. No go. I live in the area and there are a lot of other options which I'll be trying.“

“The food and atmosphere are good (fresh lobster will always be good), but the actual way you order is kind of strange. If your meal includes any lobster, you are supposed to order your entire order at an entirely separate counter in a different building. Also, as compared to ordering at the main window, you pay once you get your food when you order from the lobster counter. Overall, it's not that confusing or unreasonable, it's just strange. It is also nice that on top of the food you order, you are allowed to bring outside food picnic style.“

“Love it! The food was amazing, especially the ginger scallion shrimp burger. The staff were super friendly and they took care of everything that we needed. We also came with our service dog and we didn’t have any problems. I would recommend making a reservation, if not you just can walk right in.“

Our server, Amber, was attentive and made great recommendations with a very warm and friendly demeanor. We started our meal with wonderfully prepared cocktails and appetizers of oysters, mushroom toast, and pasta with truffles - all AMAZING! We also had the fried olives which we found unexceptional. Dinner was top notch!!!! Our entrees included, Grilled Swordfish, Halibut and Sea Scallops - all incredibly tasty and beautifully prepared and served! “The fluffy chowder is superlicious, keep going back for more. Had their Mac n cheese with lobster casserole, brought it home for Christmas treat. In summer I get their warm lobster roll with butter and sauce at their Rye harbor location. Staff is friendly and helpful, seafood is always fresh - they open again in June“

Scouring the NE region and even down to NOLA for the most flavorful bipeds.The Franklin is a total gem. $2 Happy hour oysters were limited to the 3 of their 9 available oyster options from the raw bar. Basically, it is a large, medium, and small offering, which is a fair way to do business. They included a blueberry habanero hot sauce, which was pure fire in the best way.The local cheese appetizer was blackberry goat cheese and made an excellent dip for the Franklin fries!Blueberry bread pudding rounded out the perfect evening. 10/10 would recommend. Don't leave Portsmouth without stopping here.“

“I haven't had a full 5 star experience at a place in a while. This is a restaurant but honestly it felt like so much more than a simple place to sit and be served food. John and Susan, the owners, were great to chat with. The space was decorated with a great vibe. The food was absolutely spectacular with unexpected flavors that were delicious. It's not cheap but it's a great value in my opinion. Highly recommend.“

“Went here for our 56th anniversary Saturday night! This is the second time we’ve been here and not been able to order an entree because of the apps! We got PEI mussels and the calamari. My husband is a big eater but after drinks and these starters, we couldn’t eat another bite! Next time we are going to get one app to share and then hopefully have room enough for an entree! “A rock solid place for seafood. I had haddock and scallops. Scallops were sweet, haddock was flaky, both fried but with a very light breading and not greasy at all. My wife had fried lobster tails and she really liked them. They have a full bar, she had a rum punch she liked. I recommend this place to everyone.“

“This was a very scenic restaurant right over the water. There wasn't many tables but we didn't have to wait. We had the baked haddock and fried seafood combo. Food was very delicious and portions was a relatively large. However, it was a bit pricey which is expected for the location.“

Our server was extremely attentive and was very quick to take our orders as soon as my boyfriend explained to her that we had time constraints as we needed to be in Beverly, MA by 6 pm for a concert and our limo was waiting outside.
