We were recommended to visit Roma's by my parents. My fiancée and I don't dine in Portland often. When we do we always go to the grill room and bar. Firstly the overall feel is super comfortable, the staff was super friendly when you were speaking to them. I'm not sure if it was just our waitress but she never asked how our food was, I'm sure she could tell by our facial expressions we were unimpressed and the fact that 80% of my food remained on the plate and my fiancées plate still had a decent amount left as well. Let's start with where it all went wrong. The Gorgonzola Compound Butter. I have never smelled or tasted something so atrocious in my entire life. It ruined the entire meal. I knew it was a butter so I assumed it would be fine. The whole time I kept saying it smelled like curdled milk. Now let's talk fries, there was a sauce that went on them that was also very off. I can't remember the exact name but within just minutes the fries became soggy and the both of us couldn't enjoy them because the sauce was also not something we could get past. I got one piece of steak that was saved from the compound butter and a few fries and that's all I could stomach. When the waitress asked about desert we were extremely hesitant but we went for it. We got the chocolate cake type thing and it was certainty better than our dinner but not anything that I would say I would ever order again. Without the sauces the meal could have been a hit. Just be mindful to look into every single thing on the menu. It is quite a cute spot and we loved the decor.

We had not been there for over 35 years and wanted to relive some wonderful memories. The server and hostess were very pleasant but overall dining experience was very disappointing . Started out with focaccia bread at refrigerator temperature, should be at least room temperature. Olives appetizer had a very strange taste, I could not eat it. My Husband‘s eggplant was very good, side of spaghetti was way undercooked. Poached haddock over rigatoni was the special of the evening. Could not find any haddock except for a few flakes ...not what I would call “the fish special”.Will not be returning.

Overall it was a good experience. Ambiance is fun. Service was good. Drink was great. Mozzarella salad was great. I got the carbonara dish and the noodles were quite undercooked. The ravioli my husband had was quite good. So I would recommend it.

Perfect date night place! Cozy and intimate, and the meal was outstanding! The almond semifreddo is the perfect dessert to share. It's a must do if you find yourself in Portland.

A great date night place. Cozy and intimate. Our host was friendly and welcoming. Fresh homemade pasta was out of this world delicious! Save room for dessert - the almond semifreddo is a must have. We'll certainly be back!

The special of the day appetizer was really tasty. However, their main courses off the standard menu were sub par, particularly faulted because flavors were unbalanced to degree that inedible. Overall, would not recommend dining at Roma Cafe.

I feel bad writing this because they where nice but I been sick for 24 hours! I think I got food poisoning! First off the food has no flavor I mean my wife told me I make better chicken parm. The steak had no flavor and I ended up getting a burger and it had no flavor! A lot of places in Portland have no flavor. I been violently throwing up and have cramps I would stay far away there is better food! I honestly come from a place with good food and I'm telling you the 99s has better chicken parm. What a shame!

The food and service was very good. I had written ahead that the dinner was for a birthday. The restaurant did minimal to respect that. Next special occasion we will going back to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.

Wonderful atmosphere! The service was phenomenal as well. We had a table of 4, each person got a different dish and we noticed the portion sizes varied. One order of raviolis and this person went home hungry. One order of the Pesto and this person was satisfied, the Bolognese left the 3rd person perfectly full and the 4th was the chicken parm where the person had to take left overs. I will definitely come back with this in mind.

Beautiful and well maintained property, central location with easily found parking in the area. Ordinary, very basic in ingredients and on the heavier side on spices Italian food. Very cordial service.

First time back to roma in about 15 years. Is it possible that this place got better. Food was fantastic. We had halibut, duck, chicken parm and rigatoni. Top notch. Dessert is a must have with the cannolis. Service was fantastic and did not let us down. Can't beat the atmosphere.

We had excellent service & great food. We felt the value was very reasonable as well. We started with the Brussels sprouts which were outstanding and we both enjoyed our pastas. We look forward to coming back soon!

The food was very good and served hot and timely. The service was outstanding and all were very attentive. The meals were fairly priced for quality of dishes. We will return for another meal.

Great food, good drinks, good service, intimate environment where you're not vying for attention with televisions or trying to talk over the background. The duck was exquisite, and the red sauces are always outstanding.
