Deep River Brewing Company Brewery • $
700 W Main St #102, Clayton

“This was my first time here and I wasn't disappointed! My book club met here and there was plenty of space for us to mingle. I'm not a craft beer drinker but I did sample their seltzers, which were all good, and I ended up doing a half and half with their limoncello and sour cherry (at the suggestion of the bartender). It was delicious! I'll definitely go back.“

“Definitely my favorite coffee shop. I'm in clayton a few times a week with my kids and they always ask to come here for cake pops. I love their monthly latte specials (especially anything with maple flavor) and the apple bottom waffle. My husband likes the breakfast sandwiches. The outdoor seating area is nice and it has an accessible entrance for my son who uses a wheelchair. I probably spend way too much money here but would rather support a local small business than Starbucks. 5 stars!Kid-friendliness: High chairs (awkward footrests for taller children) and muffins, cake pops, chocolate milk, etcWheelchair accessibility: The front door has stairs only so there is a ramp entrance through the gate on their patio. Follow the path to the black door and enter there (ooks like staff only, they should add an entrance sign here)“

“Walking up to this place was a fun surprise. It's a big Victorian style house and very welcoming. The interior was a little frat-ish. The rooms weren't lit very well and the bar in the corner looked makeshift. To say this place was casual is an understatement. The food was delicious, but once again, served in paper and plastic gave the sense it was cutting corners. It seemed to have a house of enthusiastic local supporters. My cosmo was wonderful! No Dewars for my husband. :/“

Bearded Bee Brewing Company Brewery • $$

“Really enjoyed the beer, service, & ambiance.Excellent Saison.Did not enjoy all the kids & dogs (barking/sitting/laying on the outdoor tables where people drink/eat). Most health codes strictly prohibit animals from being on seats or tables due to contamination risks. But I guess the dog owners could care less.“

Oak City Brewing Company Brewery • $$

“Very nice place to grab a pint with friends. They turned an old house into a tavern, which gives it a homey feeling. The beer selection is from their brewery as well as some guest taps. As for their beer, they do a nice job with several different styles to choose from. While they did offer a 4 flight, it was limited to a promotion they were having. Would have been nice to be able to flight some of their other taps. However, they do let you have samples of their taps, so that helps. They are pet friendly, inside and out, so that is nice. First time there, but it won't be my last.“

“We're originally from Benson and have lived in Texas for years and visited RNBBL with friends. When I heard someone had brought western style BBQ to NC, I had to check it out.For context, we visited on a Friday evening at 5:30pm. I ordered 1/4 brisket, 1/4 turkey, Mac and Cheese, and collards. My wife ordered 1/4 pulled pork, collards and slaw. Each order comes with a generous square of corn bread. Overall, the meals were great. I'll break down into more detail below. And some people might read this, look at all the trophies in the room and say, "Parker, you're crazy, and have no clue what you're talking about." I dunno. Taste is subjective. I'll stick to facts as much as I can.First, the "bad," even though it ain't really bad. The brisket, exclusively from the flat, was a bit underwhelming. The smoke didn't seem to penetrate very well, and the bark was thin and lacked kick. It made me think of pellet cooker brisket. ?‍♂️ That's not to say it wasn't good. It was. But if it had held more smokey goodness and had a stronger bark with that thick texture that carries all that delicious flavor, it would be some blow-your-head-off brisket. A set bark would hold moisture better as well, especially working with the flat. I would have given the food five stars if the brisket had been up to expectation. But perfecting brisket is the hardest thing in the Pit Master's skillset. That's why it's the crown jewel of any BBQ joint. Now, the other proteins:-The turkey was really good. Tender despite being a tiny bit dry, but the breast is lean, so of course it's going to be drier. The taste made up for it.-Pulled pork was easily the star of the show. Nice taste, moist, so tender it melts in your mouth. I watched an employee prepare more and it just pulled off the bone with no effort at all and he just squished it up with his hand. No chopping needed. Absolutely spot on.The dang collards were probably the best I've ever had from a small restaurant like this. That's not an exaggeration. The Mac and Cheese was pretty good, too. Next time, I'll get the jalapeño version. Now, those sauces!!! You get exactly what you read on the label!! They are out of this world!! Try them all, and try different ones on different meats and find what works for you. You won't be disappointed! The crew was friendly. The dude at the food pick-up window was a little overwhelmed, but he was hanging in there. The dining room guy kept us up with refills, which was a chore as good as that dang sweet tea is, so kudos to him. LolI'll go back, for sure. I didn't get enough.“

“Can't love this place any more on a hot, July afternoon. Come ready to make tough decisions... they have about a 100 flavors, plus a huge range of sizes to choose from. It's a little crazy but the young man at the counter was polite and patient, and the line of mostly regulars will what's the "best" (in their opinion, anyway). My personal favorite is sour cherry plus sour orange. The husband says tiger's blood is the best! The dog stuck to his usual "pup cup".“

“I love the food. My favorite is the grilled salmon salad. I also Love the 100 grade rating. I didn’t rate it 5 stars because the lighting is always so dim that it’s hard to read the menu. Also, the bathroom is extremely old so always looks dirty. I only saw one bathroom and that was for both men and women. That is unusual for a restaurant.“

“I have dined here twice and have had good experiences! I love the layout of the restaurant and they have axe throwing and arcade games. The first time I stopped in was for a beer and warm pretzel sticks with cheese and mustard. They have Hell Yes Ma'am on tap and it's one of my favorites. The second time I had lunch with my boyfriend. He had the Reuben and I had the chicken Philly. My sandwich was just ok, but the Reuben was delicious. I will definitely order that the next time I dine here. All of the waitstaff are very friendly and on top of their game. I'm looking forward to returning and trying out axe throwing.“
