This place was great - the fish was all very fresh, the chefs and server were all very kind and ensured everything was to our liking, and the environment was cute and simple. We did the 15 piece omakase for $120pp before tax and tip, which was very reasonable for the amount of food received.Definitely would go back!

I did the 18-course Omakase. Everything about the experience was incredible. The service. The quality of food. The mellow ambiance. Worth every penny. Will definitely be back ??

Every piece of nigiri was fresh and thoughtfully prepared in front of me, ambiance was quiet and calming, and sushi master and waitress were attentive. Would recommend for celebrating a special occasion.

Awesome service, I feel like I'm in a bougie Japanese restaurant, ambient gives spa-like vibes (very peaceful). Waiter came to refilled my water a lot and even gave me extra hand sanitizers. Appetizers were an awesome light start to the meal. I thought the otoro and sakura masu were my favorite pieces of salmon and tuna I've ever tried before. Every sushi altogether tasted very fresh and thoughtful. The dessert, the panna cotta, tasted very delicious and I loved that they paired with a hot green tea. I finished my meal in 1 hour and a half. Very aesthetic building, chef was very passionate about his cooking and focused and it all really tasted good! Highly recommend!

In an omakase environment that relies on shaved truffle and foie gras to thrill their customers, Sushi Makoto is a breath of fresh, reasonably priced air. It’s a very welcome addition to 14th street. They offered courses that felt experimental without being bastardizing, but for the most part, the menu is no nonsense: well-sourced fish draped on loosely packed rice. My favorite appetizer was the Spanish Mackerel that came with yuzu miso and a pepper leaf. The otoro was unsurprisingly melty and delightful.Though I couldn’t tell if they were Japanese owned or operated, I appreciated that they honored the Japanese tradition through their refined service and clean decor. Commendable since this often is not the case with omakase in this price range! Looking forward to coming again.
